Producer Information Cardwell Hill Cellars was founded with a passion for premium wine and a love of the Willamette Valley. In January of 2000 Dan and Nancy Chapel purchased the land that is Cardwell Hill Cellars. Located twelve miles west of Corvallis in the shadow of Mary’s Peak, this plot was just what they wanted. It had a north/south slope, volcanic basalt soil and abundant rainfall. Once the ink was dry on the contract, Dan and Nancy set about to establish their brand. They cleared, planted and built. Soon new vineyards were established and an administrative center and winery were built. In 2003 the first pinot noir was produced. The tasting room opened to the public Thanksgiving weekend 2004. Pinot Noir 2006,their fourth vintage, was included by Wine Spectator in their Top 100. And so the dream continues.

Dense, but juicy and well-defined through the finish. Reviews: Wine Advocate: 2019 was a late-ripening vintage at Colgin’s IX Estate on Pritchard Hill. Much was picked during the third week of October, allowing winemaker Allison Tauzier to perform a little more co-fermentation.The 2019 IX Estate is opaque purple-black in color, needing a little coaxing to unlock notions of blackberry preserves, baked plums and crème de cassis, plus hints of pencil lead, star anise, wild sage and Indian spices, leading to a fragrant waft of lavender. Built like a brick house, the opulent, full-bodied palate is perfectly framed by super firm, exquisitely ripe tannins and a fantastic acid line to give lift throughout the long earthy finish. So finely knit together, this multi-layered, seamless beauty is just breathtaking. James Suckling: Ripe cherries, plums and flowers on the nose. Orange peel, too, together with hints of thyme, bay leaf and sage. Medium-to full-bodied, incredibly deep and fresh, with fine tannins that carry you deep down into the finish. It tells you its great, but makes you spend time in order to understand it. Reminds me of the 1990 Latour. Producer Information Colgin Cellars is one of California's so-called "cult" wineries, founded by Ann Colgin in 1992. Producer: Futo Vintage: 2011 Size: 750ml ABV: 14.5 - 15.5% Varietal: Bordeaux Blend Red Country/Region: United States, Oakville The 2011 Futo Oakville Estate Red is a highly regarded, Cabernet Sauvignon-based proprietary red blend from Napa Valley that succeeded despite the challenging, cool, and low-yield 2011 vintage. Often described as a top performer for its year, it is noted for its aromatic complexity, energy, and structured, yet balanced, profile. Producer Information Futo Wines (sometimes refered to as Futo Estate) is a Napa Valley wine producer with vineyards in the highly-regarded AVAs of Oakville and the Stags Leap District. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted grape variety across these vineyards and forms the central component of Futo Wines' Bordeaux-style red wines. The estate was founded in 2002 with Tom and Kyle Futo's purchase of a 16-hectare (40-acre) Oakville property – the renowned Harlan Estate is an immediate neighbor in the undulating foothills on the western edge of the valley. Approximately three hectares (seven acres) of Futo's original land had previously been planted to vine back in the 1980s. In 2004, Futo Wines expanded its vineyard holdings with the acquisition of an adjoining two-hectare (six-acre) plot. The Oakville winery was completed in 2008, and four years later, Futo Wines increased its vineyard hectarage with an additional 16-hectare (40-acre) property in the Stags Leap District. Futo's Oakville vineyards are planted on sandstone and shale slopes elevated above the valley floor. These plots have been divided into 25 blocks that are mainly planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with additional sections of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. These grape varieties are blended to produce the flagship Futo Oakville estate red wine. The Futo 5500 label is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine made from Futo Wines' 5500 Estate in the Stags Leap District. This site – a former rock quarry – is typified by steep terraces planted to Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The estate's third wine – the Futo OVSL – is red blend sourced from both the Oakville (OV) and Stags Leap District (SL) vineyards.

Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2018 IX Estate is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Very deep purple-black colored, it needs a little coaxing to reveal earth and mineral scents of iron ore, tilled soil, forest floor and truffles with ripe red and black currants, kirsch, Black Forest cake and mulberries plus nuances of tar, lilacs and Sichuan pepper. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, the palate has a rock-solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and exhilarating freshness supporting the taut, muscular fruit. Mineral and savory accents linger long into the epic finish. A thought-provoking, pensive, mesmerizing wine. Jeb Dunnuck: Another perfect wine, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon IX Estate is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 14% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, all from the estate on Pritchard Hill. A monster of a wine that needs serious bottle age, it reveals a dense purple hue as well as a mineral-drenched bouquet of pure crème de cassis, charcoal, spring flowers, tobacco, and earth. Just incredible on the palate, it’s full-bodied and flawlessly balanced, with remarkable purity and a finish that won’t quit. Cabernet – or red wine for that matter – doesn’t get any better! The finish is long and elegant, showcasing the wine’s remarkable balance and depth. Producer Information Harlan Estate is a high-profile, critically-lauded wine producer based in the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley, California. Its Cabernet Sauvignon-based flagship wine is one of California's most sought-after wines, regularly commanding prices exceeding $1000 per bottle. The estate was founded in 1984 by property developer William (known as "Bill") Harlan. He had previously developed the Meadowood resort before buying 240 acres (97 hectares) of steep, densely wooded land above the western Oakville benchlands. Some 40 acres (16 hectares) of this was cleared for vineyards. These are mostly planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, but with smaller amounts of other red Bodeaux varieties. Harlan Estate's first commercial vintage was the 1990, which was released in 1996 with a then-expensive price tag of $65 a bottle. Since then, the estate has cemented itself as one of the most highly-regarded wine producers in the world, with eight vintages achieving 100-point scores from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. As a result, prices have risen exponentially, and today the average global price (ex-tax) per 750ml bottle approaches $1,500 USD. In addition to the flagship red, Harlan Estate also makes a second wine, The Maiden.

The original vines were pulled during Prohibition and, in 1997, Colgin replanted the vineyards with a mixture of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines are grown on volcanic soils on the slopes of the Tychson Hill. The Tychson Hill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon vintages 2002, 2012 and most recently the 2013 have perfect scores from Robert Parker, with the critic comparing the wines to a hypothetical blend of the finest Pauillac and Napa Valley wines. The Cariad Vineyards encompass three main plots – the Madrona Ranch, Howell Mountain and Thorevilos – and are owned and managed by David Abreu. The Cariad Red Wine is produced from a blend of grapes from these three vineyards, usually Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The IX estate vineyards, also known as the number nine estate, form an eight-hectare (20-acre) plot on a broad slope of the St Helena hill. Producer: Colgin Cellars Ratings: WA 98 JD 98 Vintage: 2017 Size: 750ml ABV: 15% Varietal: Bordeaux Blend Red Country/Region: United States, California In its youth, this vintage has continually shown enhanced soil driven aromas such as iron, graphite and wild sage. Raspberry and marzipan combine with juniper and nutmeg, adding complexity at every sip. Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2017 IX Estate is composed of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. Opaque purple-black colored, the nose is quite closed and shy to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal freshly crushed blackberries, mulberries and blackcurrants plus suggestions of dusty soil, bouquet garni, pencil lead and cast-iron pan with gentle wafts of sandalwood, cardamom, rare beef and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house, strutting incredibly ripe yet super firm tannins, and it has lovely, uplifting freshness to help define all those black fruit and savory layers, finishing with epic length. Needs time, but this should turn out to be incredibly nuanced and long lived! Jeb Dunnuck: Blackcurrants, tobacco, gravelly earth, and lead pencil notes emerge from the 2017 IX Estate, which has a Chateau Latour-like austerity and class. Coming from vines around the estate, high up on Pritchard Hill, it builds beautifully on the palate and is full-bodied and massively concentrated, yet has stunning balance as well as polished, silky tannins. Enough can’t be said about the quality coming from this estate, and this is another magical wine that will stand up to the greatest Cabernets in the world. Hide bottles for 5-7 years (if you have more patience than I do) and enjoy over the following 40-50 years. Producer Information Colgin Cellars is one of California's so-called "cult" wineries, founded by Ann Colgin in 1992. It's the most popular and widely available Pinot from the winery and should find a place in every Pinot-lover's cellar. Producer Information Patricia Green Cellars is located in the Ribbon Ridge district of Yamhill County on the 52 acre estate purchased in 2000 by Patty Green and Jim Anderson. The winery, and thus the two friends, are noted for producing a tremendously broad selection of Pinot Noirs from far flung vineyards representing some of the better sites in the Ribbon Ridge, Dundee Hills, Chehalem Mountains, and the Eola Hills growing regions. We look to produce Pinot Noirs that show the distinctions of the sites we work with. All of the vineyards we either maintain or purchase fruit from are extremely well-tended sites that seek to grow the best fruit possible through rigorous attention to detail on every single vine. To ensure that our sites truly show the characteristics of the soil, micro-climate and clonal material none of them use irrigation. In the winery the philosophy of attention to the smallest details is further extended all the way from the fermenting must to the final bottling process. All of our wines at all of their points of evolution are handled and manipulated as little as possible while being smelled and tasted on a regular basis. Our selection of barrels has been limited to one cooper noted for producing some of the best made Pinot Noir barrels in the world. As we produce as many as 15-16 different bottlings of Pinot Noir under our own label each vintage the decisions we make about the quality of every single barrel is quite rigorous ensuring that each bottling represents the best possible wine from each vineyard with which we work.

We have partnerships consisting of a large network of licensed retailers from within the United States, Europe and across the world ensuring orders are fulfilled. Producer: Turley Wine Cellars Vintage: 2019 Size: 750ml Varietal: Zinfandel Country/Region: United States, Napa Valley The 2019 Zinfandel Turley Estate has a medium ruby color. The nose begins with graphite, tar and aniseed and fleshes out to bright black and red berries with wafts of potpourri. The medium-bodied palate is surprisingly intense, offering up loads of berry and peachy fruits. It has a gently grainy and fresh frame, and it finishes long and floral. Producer Information Turley Wine Cellars was established in the Napa Valley in 1993 by Larry Turley. Turley, a founder of Frog's Leap Winery in Rutherford, wanted a smaller, more intimate production size, and wanted to work with old vines. Turley sold his shares in Frog's Leap to begin his own winery with the help of his sister Helen Turley, a notable Californian wine consultant and winemaker. Helen acted as winemaker until 1995 when she went back to consulting and Ehren Jordan assumed the winemaking role. Jordan left Turley in 2013 when the position was taken by his protégé, Tegan Passalacqua. The estate makes around 30 wines from 35 different vineyards, split roughly in half between estate-owned land and long-term leases. The focus has been on reviving old vines. Some of the vineyards are more than 100 years old, including the Hayne and Ueberroth vineyards, planted in 1902 and 1885 respectively. The predominant grape here is Zinfandel, but Petite Sirah features heavily as well. Turley's style embraces the full-bodied, robust, and fruit-dominant potential of Zinfandel when grown in Californian heat. The approach has been to bring the fruit to full physiological ripeness which can lead to high alcohol levels – in hot years some of Turley's wines have been as high as 18 percent alcohol. Turley now has two wineries – one in Templeton in Paso Robles, and the other in St Helena in Napa. A cult following and moderate production volumes – around 16,000 cases a year – means that the majority of the wines are sold through mailing list with a two-year wait list. The company also has two cellar doors – one in Paso Robles, south of San Francisco, and one in Amador County, east of the city.

Medium-bodied, delicately styled and refreshing, it whispers rather than shouts of fragrant black fruits with soft, rounded tannins coating the long, spicy and floral-perfumed finish. This makes such a great complement to the Cabernet from IX Estate this vintage, it's almost a shame to split them up! For the Belmonte family, the owners of VJB Vineyards and Cellars, that’s most certainly true, and it’s those treasured traditions combined with the relaxed California lifestyle they’ve come to love that they share with guests to their winery since 2003.The seeds of owning a winery were sown in the late 1990s when the family owned Caffe Portofino, a popular restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa. As Henry and Victor watched diners enjoy wine with their meals they had an idea to start making their own wine to sell at the restaurant. The brothers made their first harvest of Cabernet grapes in 1999, but before that wine was ever bottled, Victor passed away unexpectedly. Though filled with grief, Henry, along with his parents, was determined to keep his younger brother’s memory and passion for making wine alive. VJB Vineyards and Cellars—named for Victor Joseph Belmonte— was born.In the summer of 2012 VJB Vineyards and Cellars celebrated its grand opening. The estate produces two Cabernet Sauvignon-predominant blended wines from a small 2-hectare (5-acre) vineyard site. Only around 800 cases of wine are produced each year. Only a few bottles find their way outside northern California. The property is divided into two separate plots. The upper vineyard is characterized by volcanic soils and is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, while Merlot, Cabernet Franc and smaller quantities of Petit Verdot are planted in the clay-loam soils of the lower vineyard parcels. These grape varieties are blended to produce the estate's flagship Bordeaux red blend, Dancing Hares, and its second label, Mad Hatter. The first Dancing Hares vintage was produced in 2003, although the wine wasn't released to market until 2011. This vintage was a blend of 47 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 34 percent Merlot and 19 percent Cabernet Franc. More recent vintages have been supplemented with a small percentage of Petit Verdot.
