Producer: Terrazze dell Etna Vintage: 2015 Size: 750ml ABV: 13% Varietal: Pinot Noir Country/Region: Italy, Sicily An elegant blend of Pinot Nero and Nerello Mascalese, this bright sparkler offers enticing scents of strawberry, raspberry and a whiff of pastry cream that carry over to the vibrant palate along with a hint of Mediterranean herb. It's persistent and refreshing, with a refined perlage. Beautiful deep pink. Producer Information Terrazze dell’ Etna winery was founded in 2008 by Nino Bevilacqua, an engineer from Palermo, when legendary Italian winemaker Riccardo Cotarella helped him to plan and build this extraordinary property. Stretching over 36 hectares including a mix of vineyards, olive trees, cherry trees, chestnut trees, and oaks, the estate grows all of its own grapes at altitudes that range from 600 to 950 meters a.s.l. — some of the highest-lying vineyards in the world. The name of the winery was inspired by the traditional terracing method (terrazza means terrace in Italian) that the Bevilacqua family revived when it purchased the farm more than a decade ago. Although the family also grows some international varieties for its classic-method sparkling wines, here the focus is on the native Nerello family of red grapes, Nerello Mascalease (the primary grape used in Etna wines) and Nerello Cappuccio. Farming here is only done by hand and the estate employs integrated farming techniques which encompasses upkeeping a variety of crops and livestock to enhance biodiversity. The soils are volcanic in nature, produced over the centuries by Mt. Etna in the vicinity. Terrazze dell’ Etna also practises a traditional approach to winemaking, with minimal intervention to create one of the appellation’s purest expressions.

Perfect for lovers of mineral-driven, dry white wines. Producer Information The company was founded in 2008 thanks to the rigorous attention paid by the Bevilacqua family in the recovery of the environmental context, in the restoration of the ancient vineyards, the millstones, the stone terraces, testimony to the history of the places. Today it covers an area of approximately 40 hectares producing 11 types of wines. The original terraces recovered thanks to a naturalistic architecture intervention, are cultivated by hand: skilled local workers dedicate their time and dedication to the vineyard following its natural cycle. At the end of winter the sheep graze the grass among the vines, the teams hoe the earth made softer by the passage of the flock. Each phase, from pruning to tying the vineyards, is carried out with great manual skill, today as in past times the natural cycle is rediscovered in the characteristic Etna landscape. The Terrazze dell'Etna company was founded in 2008 when Nino Bevilacqua , an engineer from Palermo in love with his land, began a passionate work of recovery of the ancient and characteristic local agricultural environment: through the purchase of small plots of land abandoned and submerged by brambles . The company is located within the Etna Natural Park and climbs the slopes of the volcano on the north-west side. Terrazze dell'Etna was born with the aim of enhancing the terroir of the highest active volcano in Europe and its native vine , Nerello Mascalese . Today we export to various countries abroad, proud to be able to tell the story of these one-of-a-kind wines.

It is definitely for food, with its acidity and fine freshness. Producer Information The Aubry estate is in the village of Jouy-les-Reims in the western part of the Montagne de Reims. Twin borthers Pierre and Philippe farm parcels in the limestone and clay soils of Jouy, as well as sites in three other premiere cru villages: Pargny-les-Reims, Villedommange, and Coulommes-la-Montagne. Aubry also farms one and a half hectares of ancient grape varieties still permitted by A.O.C. law. Their plantings of Petit Mesilier, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris) and Arbanne were completed in 1989 to mark the 200 year aniversary of grape growing by the Aubry family. Aubry makes two different cuvees to showcase these rare grapes. The Le Novembre d’Or Veteres Vites blends all seven permissible grapes in the Champagne Appelation: Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc Petit Mesleir, Arbanne, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. The Blanc de Blanc Le November d’Or Sable Brut blends Petit Meslier, Arbanne and Chardonnay all from parcels in Jouy-les-Reims. Sable is named for the French word for fettle or fine, referring to this cuvee’s lower atmospheric pressure; four atmospheres, rather than the normal six.

Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2015 Brut Vintage Rosé is generous and demonstrative, bursting with aromas of peach, orange and pear mingled with hints of red berries, fresh bread and ginger. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, it's rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into an ample, fleshy core that's girdled by bright acids and enlivened by a pillowy mousse. Long and expansive, it's more generous and gourmand than its racier 2014 predecessor, but just as good. James Suckling: This shows lots of cotton candy and peach, together with strawberries and cream. But not overpowering. Some cranberry, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine bubbles and a lively finish. Dosage 8g/L. Drink now or hold. Producer Information Although founded in 1776, the house in its current guise began in 1833, when Louis Roederer took the reins from his uncle and renamed the business for himself. Roederer set out to capture foreign markets, and most famously that of Russia; Roederer became the wine of choice for the Russian royal family. Cristal – now one of the region's top prestige cuvées along with the likes of Dom Pérignon (Moët), Belle Époque (Perrier-Jouet), Comtes de Champagne (Taittinger) or Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill (Pol Roger) – was created for the notoriously paranoid Tsar Alexander II of Russia, who requested the bottle be clear and flat-bottomed to prevent hidden explosives. Louis Roederer acquired several grand cru vineyards in Champagne in 1845 to add to his portfolio. This was unusual for the time as the majority of houses were buying grapes from growers rather than cultivating their own. Juicy and concentrated on the palate, concluding on a juicy, smoked, umami finish. Reviews: Wine Advocate: To produce the 2015 Brut Nature Rosé, Lécaillon and his team picked the ripest Pinot Noir in Roederer's holdings in lieu-dit Les Chèvres a week before the rest of their fruit there, macerating it at low temperature for four to five days before adding some 20% of this Pinot Noir to the same base that produces the regular Brut Nature. Delivering aromas of peach, clear honey, freshly baked bread and almond paste, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a rich, vinous profile, racy acids and a long, chalky finish. This has always been a structured wine, but in 2015, that structure is cloaked in more flesh and texture. Wine Spectator: A vivacious rosé, with a minerally overtone and a well-meshed range of crunchy pear, peach skin, pickled ginger and blood orange zest flavors set on a refined, lacy mousse. Ends with a long, creamy finish. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Drink now through 2032. 400 cases imported. James Suckling: A layered and fresh red with dried strawberry and cherry character. Medium body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Producer Information It is in the volcanic soils of Mt. Etna where the Tornatore family has set deep, centuries old roots. The Tornatores, one the oldest wine growing families on Mt. Etna, have lived in Sicily since 1680 and trace their Etna grape growing back to 1865. That heritage and the Tornatore’s profound respect and understanding of the land is showcased in wines that capture the essence of Etna, deftly balancing concentrated flavors, complexity, freshness and refinement. The Tornatore’s Etna roots have long grounded them in the flavors and patterns of their region, and it was this knowledge that inspired Francesco Tornatore to found his family’s winery in the town of Castiglione di Sicilia in 2010, nearly a century and a half after his great grandfather first planted vineyards on Mt. Etna. The region benefits from Sicily’s ample sunshine, but Mt. Etna’s high elevation also provides greater rainfall, moderating breezes and cooler temperatures. Etna’s unique nature means soils, microclimates and exposures change dramatically from site to site, creating a panorama of characteristics and possibilities in the vineyards. Tornatore blends artisan and modern winemaking to craft wines such as the Bianco and Rosso that display the full range of fruit and complex personality of Etna terroir, and single vineyard wines—Pietrarizzo with its high elevation and Trimarchisa with 40-year-old vines—that express the beauty and...

Producer: Ornellaia Ratings: JS 94 WA 93 Vintage: 2015 Size: 750ml ABV: 14% Varietal: Bordeaux Blend Red Country/Region: Italy, Tuscany The nose releases aromas of blackberries, raspberries and red cherries, accompanied by floral hints of wild roses, pink pepper and liquorice. On the palate, the wine has a good tannic structure, enveloping and balanced, with a crisp and savoury finish. Reviews: James Suckling: Plenty of blackberry and rust with tile and stone undertones. Full body, tannic and structured. A big and flavorful red. Better in 2020 when it is a little softer. Wine Advocate: This is a stunning and exuberant wine that drinks with beautiful intensity and personality. The 2015 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is made with fruit from the estate's young vines. Fruit from the older vines is instead directed to the top-shelf expressions. If this wine is any indication of what we can expect from the next vintage of Ornellaia to hit the market, we are in for a very special treat. This is a complete and richly concentrated expression that drinks with seamless intensity. It pits power against elegance with confidence and grace. Producer Information Ornellaia is one of the foremost producers in the Bolgheri appellation on the coast of Tuscany. It is particularly known for making one of Italy's most famous and expensive wines, which shares the same name. This Bordeaux-style blend is one of the original Super Tuscans. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, instead of Tuscany's most famous variety, Sangiovese. The vineyard, which neighbors Sassacaia in Tuscany's coastal Maremma region, enjoys gentle sea breezes, which mitigate the summer heat, and is sheltered by neighboring hills from cold winter winds. The soils are a complex mix of alluvial, volcanic and marine elements, providing a good base for the Bordeaux varieties planted here. After hand-picking and careful selection – firstly by bunch and secondly grape by grape – each variety and each vineyard block is vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. Ornellaia is aged for around 18 months in oak, 70 percent of which is new. Grapes which do not make the cut for the top wine (primarily...

Producer: Pian dell'Orino Vintage: 2015 Size: 1.5L ABV: 14% Varietal: Sangiovese Country/Region: Italy, Tuscany This envelops the palate in opulent textural fruits (red and hints of blue), with balsam herbs and nuances of candied citrus lifted by bright acidity. Sweet tannins frame the expression nicely through the slightly candied finish; yet make no mistake, while the Bassolino di Sopra may show the sunny nature of the 2015 vintage, it does so in a wonderfully harmonious way. Producer Information Pian dell'Orino is a leading Montalcino wine estate. Well-known for its reds from the Sangiovese grape, the estate has 22 different clones planted to the variety. The 6 hectare (15 acre) estate covers four different vineyards in Montalcino, located next to the famous vineyards of Biondi Santi. The chalk-rich soils have proved very well suited to the Sangiovese grapes that are grown here. Proprietors Caroline Pobitzer and Jan Hendrick Erbach have farmed the estate organically and biodynamically for many years. Pian dell'Orino's top wine, the Bassolino di Sopra, is sourced from the upper part of the Bassolino vineyard. This inaugural vintage was 2007, and since has only been produced in the best years. In 2006 and 2004, a Riserva without a vineyard designation was made instead. The standard Brunello di Montalcino wine – called Vigneti del Versante from 2010 – is sourced from the Bassolino and Cancello Rosso vineyards. It is aged for around 45 months in large oak vats. The lineup also includes a Rosso di Montalcino that spends a year in oak barriques, and the Piandorino, a varietal Sangiovese made under the Toscana IGT designation. This wine is made with fruit from the more fertile parts of the vineyards, and is regarded by the estate as a more obviously fruity wine than the classic Montalcino style. Pian dell'Orino gained considerable attention in 2016 when the Bassolino di Sopra wine received a 100-point rating from Robert Parker's publication The Wine Advocate.

James Suckling: Deliciously spiced red-cherry, blueberry, pink-grapefruit and pomegranate aromas with very attractive complexity already on release. The majority of Rocche Costamagna's vineyards are located in La Morra, with additional vineyard plots situated in Verduno. Grape varieties including Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Arneis are grown in La Morra. The vineyard sites in Verduno provide the Nebbiolo grapes for the Rocche Costamagna Langhe Nebbiolo Roccardo. The family-owned estate dates back to 1841; Alessandro Locatelli has been in charge since the 1980s and has overseen extensive renovations in both the vineyards and winery. Seamlessly knit and mouthwatering, with a minerally underpinning and a finely detailed, dotted bead. Lush and creamy on the vibrant, lasting finish. Producer Information Veuve Clicquot is one of Champagne's best known producers, and has been a consistent seller since it was founded in 1772. Pinot Noir has dominated over Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier in this blend from its inception. The house famously invented the process of riddling, which removed the dead yeast cells and gave the finished wines a clear appearance. The house was founded by Philippe Clicquot in 1772 as a sideline to his successful textile business, but became the second largest producer of Champagne in the region under his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin. In 1798 Philippe Clicquot married his only son, Francois, to the daughter of a prominent local business man named Ponsardin as a way to consolidate the power of both his and Ponsardin's successful businesses. Francois and his wife, Barbe-Nicole, saw an opportunity to take over the wine business and hopefully foster its growth. The attempt failed miserably due to the outbreak of the Napoleonic Wars, and Francois Clicquot died in 1805. Barbe-Nicole continued on her own and, with the help of investments from her father-in-law and some deft smuggling of wines to Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Veuve Clicquot exploded onto the market. The development of the riddling process meant production increased significantly, which was able to satiate demand. Today, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is owned by luxury giant Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy (LVMH). The portfolio of Veuve Clicquot includes non-vintage and vintage wines in Brut, Rosé and Demi-Sec variants. The top wine is La Grande Dame, a vintage champagne first created in 1972 in honor of Barbe-Nicole, produced from a blend of eight grand cru vineyards. One of the most recent additions to the portfolio is the Rich Collection which is characterized by champagnes with a high dosage giving a sweet and round flavor profile. The Veuve Clicquot...

Lifted by fresh acidity on the medium-bodied palate, the wine keeps unfolding in toasted walnuts, honey and a dash of bitter marmalade. It’s mouth-filling, alive with acidity and full of finesse. Producer Information Champagne Bollinger is one of the most famous houses in Champagne, in northern France. It is notable for its muscular, Pinot Noir-dominant cuvée, and is widely available around the world. The house, originally known as Renaudin-Bollinger & Cie, was founded in 1829. It passed through generations of the family of Bollinger until 2008 when, for the first time in its history, the chairman came from outside of the family. Champagne Bollinger is still independently owned by Société Jacques Bollinger. Bollinger is located in Aÿ in the heart of Champagne, and the majority of the vines are located on premier cru and grand cru plots. The house style is focused on Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier being used to enhance rather than dominate. Pinot Noir makes up no less than 60 percent of all of the Bollinger collection, and there is no Blanc de Blanc in the portfolio. Two-thirds of the grapes are estate-grown, with the rest coming from growers with a long history with the house; all plots are vinified separately to allow for each specific terroir to be fully expressed. Bollinger manages 169 hectares (417 acres) of vineyards. Bollinger has a vast array of barrels dating back to 1903. The majority are purchased from a French négociant at three years of age and are maintained by an in-house cooper until 30 years of age. This allows for the roundness of style and integrated flavor typical of Bollinger.

F Producer Information Taittinger is one of Champagne's most famous houses. Based in the city of Reims, Taittinger is known for its Chardonnay-dominant cuvées, the pinnacle of which is the blanc de blancs prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne. The family-owned estate has approximately 290 hectares (710 acres) of vines, around half of which is planted to Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Meunier making up the rest. These vineyards contribute 50 percent of Taittinger's output, with the rest coming from growers who have historical relationships with the house. Taittinger's Brut Reserve NV is composed of 40 percent Chardonnay, with the two Pinots making up the remainder. This makes for a fresh and reasonably delicate house style. In addition to this, Taittinger makes a range of Champagne styles, including a demi-sec, several rosés and an array of single-vineyard, vintage and otherwise limited-edition wines. The Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's top wine, and was first made in the 1952 vintage. The grapes are mostly sourced from grand cru vineyards across Avizé, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It's more similar to the style of the opulent 2012 than the lean 2013. This is made from 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay. It was aged on its lees for five and half years. This is a bold rich Champagne that's great to drink now but will keep for many years. Though you probably won't be able to keep your hands off it. Reviews: James Suckling: Lots of spicy apple with sliced lemons and pears and hints of stone. Full-bodied with soft and layered bubbles that caress your palate. Dusty and succulent. Creamy finish. Wine Advocate: Pol Roger's 2015 Brut Vintage is generous and demonstrative, bursting with aromas of golden orchard fruit, nectarine, warm bread, buttered popcorn and orange oil. Full-bodied, broad and vinous, it's rich and fleshy, with a sweet, layered core of fruit, racy acids and a pretty pinpoint mousse. Stylistically, the 2015 has more in common with the richness and concentration of 2012 than the chiseled raciness of 2013. It's a beautiful bottle in the making. Producer Information Champagne Pol Roger is a prominent Champagne producer based in Epernay. It is known for its elegant, balanced house style made from equal proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The Pol Roger champagne portfolio includes a non vintage brut, a vintage brut, a demi sec, a brut nature, a rosé and a blanc de blancs. The blend used in the Sir Winston Churchill cuvée is a closely guarded secret but is dominated by Pinot Noir for structure and strength and finished with Chardonnay for its elegance. Pol Roger grows just over half of its grapes on its 89 hectares (220 acres) of estate vineyards. The rest is supplied by contract growers with whom the company has long-term relationships. Everything is done by hand in the winery and Pol Roger is home to the largest remuage team in Champagne. The cellar of the champagne house is one of the deepest cellars in Epernay. Producer: Roederer Estate Ratings: WE 96 JS 97 Vintage: 2015 Size: 750ml ABV: 12% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: United States, California Fine tiny bubbles and a long lasting mousse are the usual footprints of the L’Ermitage cuvée. Aromas of hazelnut and roasted pecans opening to some clove spiciness. Vibrant acidity, with notes of Asian pear, baked green apple. Creamy mid palate and clean acid with a dry finish. Reviews: Wine Enthusiast: This grand, special-occasion wine is wonderfully complex and layered, but also powerful in the way its toasted walnut, Bosc pear and fresh bread flavors start out strong in the aroma and keep pumping on the palate and through a lingering finish. Nice and dry, tangy but mouth filling, it's a sophisticated indulgence. James Suckling: This is a powerful and dense sparkling wine that is first and foremost a classic-quality wine. And then you think about the bubbles. Full-bodied with lots of brioche, pie crust and bread dough. Great finish. Five years on the lees. 52% chardonnay and 48% pinot noir. Producer Information Roederer Estate is a California sparkling wine producer located in Anderson Valley. Established in 1982 by the Champagne house Louis Roederer, the first wine was released in 1988. The sparkling wines are made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the methode traditionnelle, and are considered as some of California's best. The estate covers 620 acres (250 hectares) of vineyard land, and farms with organic and biodynamic methods. Anderson Valley's cool climate is well-suited to the production of sparkling wines, and the estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are able to ripen slowly and retain acidity, which is essential for sparkling wine production. Roederer is known for its blending style. Only the first pressing of fruit – around 70 percent of the total pressed – is used. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, wines are blended with oak-aged reserve wines and spend a minimum of two years on their lees before disgorgement. The house has previously produced two non-vintage cuvées – the Brut, composed of around 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir; and the Brut Rosé, composed of about 55 percent Pinot Noir and 45 percent Chardonnay. As of 2021, Roederer are no longer producing vintage Champagne. L'Ermitage, Roederer's...

Producer Information Nicolas Feuillatte is a brand and conglomerate of grape growers known as the Centre Vinicole – Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte (CV-CNF) and is one of the most popular Champagne brands on the market. The founder Nicolas Feuillatte initially came to winemaking in the 1970s, with the purchase of some land in the AOC Champagne area. In 1976, his father bequeathed him a vineyard in Boulese, which consequently led to the establishment of the Nicolas Feuillatte brand in 1980.Taking a departure from his contemporaries, Feuillatte focused on creating a softer-tasting Champagne with a reduced acidity that would appeal to a wider market. The popularity of the Nicolas Feuillatte brand quickly grew, largely bolstered by the endorsement of key public figures at the time including Princess Diana and Jackie Kennedy. The success of the brand's first vintages were evident and, in order to increase production levels, Feuillatte joined together with 4000 other growers. In 1986, Feuillatte sold his business to form the CV-CNF, which at the time consisted of 5000 growers.

James Suckling: What a striking nose of wild strawberry for a champagne that’s 100% chardonnay, but the wines of this village always tend in the berry direction. For a bone-dry wine, this is brimming with fruit and exhibits lovely elegance, then turns just slightly more austere at the very long, chalky finish. Still very young. From organically grown grapes. Producer Information Champagne Larmandier-Bernier is a Champagne house in Vertus, just south of Reims, producing acclaimed wines from Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims vineyards. Producer Information Louis Roederer is a well-regarded Champagne house based in the city of Reims and best-known for its flagship wine: Cristal. The house, established in the late 18th Century, is still family-owned, and produces a house style with equal amounts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, around one-fifth Pinot Meunier. History: Although founded in 1776, the house in its current guise began in 1833, when Louis Roederer took the reins from his uncle and renamed the business for himself. Today, the Roederer vineyards encompass around 240 hectares (600 acres) of land in the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. By 2012, around 25 percent of the vineyards were managed biodynamically (the 2012 Cristal is made from biodynamically farmed grapes).

Producer: Veuve Clicquot Vintage: 2015 Size: 750ml ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: France, Champagne Delicate and impressive depth on the nose. The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting. The Veuve Clicquot underground cellars (crayères) were originally chalk quarries established in medieval times. They stretch for more than 24 kilometers beneath colline Saint Nicaise and provide a constant temperate and humidity for aging champagne. In 2015, the cellars were listed as a Unesco World Heritage site.

In the nose fruity after ripe apples and peaches, biscuit with fine citrus and roasting flavours. At the palate harmonious, mineral, sweet with a fine and soft texture. Long lasting in the finish. Producer Information Michel-Schlumberger’s first vines were planted in 1979 by Jean-Jacques Michel, who was a native of Switzerland. Michel traveled far and wide across Northern California searching for the perfect place to establish his winery. He immediately recognized the potential of the Dry Creek Valley climate and soils to produce premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Chardonnay grapes, and the contoured exposures of Wine Creek Canyon, in particular, to create very unique flavors, especially in red wines. In 1991, Jacques Pierre Schlumberger joined the winery team, bringing with him a more than 400-year family legacy of winemaking in Alsace, France. The Michel-Schlumberger brand was born, and over the years, the reputation of the wines and the beauty of the Estate garnered attention from around the world. In 2011, Schlumberger retired and the Estate evolved again, with investment and new management committed to taking the wines and the winery to even greater heights. The mission-style architecture of the Estate harkens to Michel-Schlumberger’s European roots while honoring the influence of the Spanish in early Californian history. Today, the winery’s white stucco walls, terracotta tiled roof, bell tower, and grand courtyard offer a spectacular place to enjoy a day in the Wine Country. Our Estate heritage is reflected in our guest experience. This includes motorized tours through the vineyards, walking cellar tours through our production area, barrel tastings, and seated reserve tastings of our award-winning, low production wines.

It has attained something of a cult status for its richly colored, textured wines, and is a favorite of notable American wine critic Robert Parker. Pinot Noir plays the starring role in Egly-Ouriet's wines, and the flagship is the Blanc de Noir Vieilles Vignes Brut Grand Cru Ambonnay. The standard Tradition Brut Grand Cru and the Brut Grand Cru Vintage both have 70-percent Pinot Noir and 30-percent Chardonnay, while the Rosé Grand Cru has a dash of Coteaux Champenois rouge added. Egly-Ouriet's range also includes the Brut Les Vignes de Vrigny Premier Cru cuvee made entirely from Pinot Meunier, and the Ambonnay Rouge, a still red wine which is reasonably unusual in Champagne. Established in 1930, Egly-Ouriet now has nine hectares (22 ac) of vineyards which are mostly Grand Cru plots in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay, and mostly planted to Pinot Noir with a small amount of Chardonnay. The exception is a plot of old-vine Pinot Meunier at Vrigny. In the winery, Egly-Ouriet are particularly patient with all cuvées aged on lees in bottle following the second fermentation for a minimum of 36 months before disgorgement.

The nose is fragrant with ripe peach and rose petal, and it has a rich texture, with a more viscous feel, and note of yellow flowers and Anjou pear. It speaks to the ripeness of the vintage, but it is long on the palate and has a light phenolic finish. James Suckling: This is a vivid Taittinger with notes of chalk, almond croissants, lemon curd and biscuits. Bright and linear, with a tight bead of bubbles. Focused with persistent pastry notes. 50% pinot noir and 50% chardonnay; 70% Grands Crus and 30% Premiers Crus. Producer Information Taittinger is one of Champagne's most famous houses. Oak is used sparingly to impart flavors of brioche and grilled almonds, rather than to add any tannins or weight. The bottles are kept for at least 10 years in the underground chalk galleries beneath the former Saint-Nicaise Abbey in Reims (now the Taittinger headquarters). Guy worked with a small holding of vineyards spread across three villages (Mareuil sur Ay, Avenay val d’Or and Bisseuil). From an early age, Antoine took a budding interest in the family business. He learned from his grandfather the joy of hard work, caring for the land, and the precision of cellar work so very necessary to make great Champagne. Antoine’s love for his grandfather can be seen in the homage to him on the label of his Champagnes. Antoine attended the Viticampus in Avize and started working with his grandfather in 2011 and in 2013 he took over complete operations of the domaine, where he has worked solely with oak and began the use of biodynamic practices. With working with his grandfather in the first couple of years, it has been a transition to organic vineyard practices and in 2012 and 2014 both were planted on 40% organic vineyards, while 2020, and going forward all vineyards are farmed 100% organic and biodynamic throughout.

Producer Information Laurent-Perrier is one of Champagne's most famous houses, founded in 1812 in the village of Tours-sur-Marne. Its house style is known for its finesse and elegance, based around an emphasis on the Chardonnay variety in all but the rosé wines. Chardonnay accounts for 55 percent of the blend in La Cuvée (the renamed Brut Non-Vintage). This proportion was increased from 2004 when the company gained access to some additional Chardonnay vineyards. Recently the level of sugar in the dosage has dropped from 12.5 to nine grams per liter. Across the range, Pinot Noir is used to provide structure and longevity. Pinot Meunier is only used in small proportions in La Cuvée Brut and the Harmony Demi-Sec labels. The Brut Vintage is made less often than is the case for some houses. Both this and the Ultra Brut (a brut nature / zero dosage wine) are typically made from equal parts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Grand Siècle is the house's prestige cuvée, first released in 1959. It is unusual for a prestige Champagne in that it is blended from three vintages. Effectively, the house seeks to consistently produce a wine with the quality of a theoretical vintage release from an absolutely perfect year. From 2019, the company introduced an "Iteration number" to identify each release. This began with Iteration 24 (the 24th Grand Siècle, from the 2007 (60 percent) 2006 and 2004 vintages (20 percent each). Alongside these white wines, Laurent-Perrier makes a pair of rosé Champagnes (for which it is particularly well known). The popular Cuvée Rosé is made entirely from Pinot Noir. The vintage Cuvée Alexandra, the house's most exclusive wine, includes 20 percent Chardonnay. The wines are vinified separately according to their vineyard, allowing for more control over the blending process. Laurent-Perrier was one of the first Champagne houses to use stainless steel tanks for fermentation....
