Rich and full-bodied, this wine has a dense mid-palate with a round and silky texture and a long finish. Producer Information Chimney Rock is a Californian wine producer, located off the Silverado Trail in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. It is best known for its individualistic, single-vineyard red wines produced from Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate was bought in 1980 by Hack and Stella Wilson, who planted 24 hectares (59 acres) of various red and white grape varieties. Soon after the first vintage in 1989, phylloxera hit the vineyard, forcing the replanting of the entire property. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, however, as the Wilsons were able to replant with a focus on the Bordeaux varieties – mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with blocks of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine portfolio of Chimney Rock's showcases terroir, with a majority of wines produced from a single vineyard block. The most notable of these include the Alpine Vineyard, Arete, Clone 7, Ganymede Vineyard, and Tomahawk Vineyard wines, all of which are characteristic of the Stags Leap District, with concentrated fruit intermingling with notes of sage, violet and graphite. In 2004, the Wilsons sold Chimney Rock to the Terlato family, owners of a global portfolio of wine brands.

Producer: Rock Rabbit Wines Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 12% Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon Country/Region: United States, Lodi Delightful aromas of black cherries and black olives are most noticeable. The flavor adds more complex notes including coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. The smooth mouthfeel is attributable to soft acidity and silky tannins. Producer Information Lodi is justifiably lauded for its old vine Zinfandels, but it is a production powerhouse when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon. Lodi and its surrounding area (San Joaquin County) rank third in the state in acres planted to Cab, behind Napa and Paso Robles/San Luis Obispo County. But in total tons crushed Lodi is number one by a wide margin, surpassing Napa and Paso combined. In other words, Lodi produces more Cabernet Sauvignon than anywhere else in the U.S. This more volume-driven approach to viticulture makes possible the value-oriented bottlings that so many wine drinkers reach for on an everyday basis. These offer the varietal’s classic profile of dark fruit, oak influence, subtle herbal and green pepper notes and solid structure. Try Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon from wineries like Cosentino, Ironstone, Lapis Luna and The Federalist.

From early on in his life, John Anthony Truchard walked vineyard rows, brushed dirt from his knees, and picked grape skins from his fingernails. He was meant to create handcrafted wines while focusing on growing the best fruit possible. He knew he wanted to do it differently. Gone were the days of purchasing a forty acre estate, building a winery, and planting vines. He instead would lease select land, evaluate soils and microclimates, and plant only what would strive in the choice locations. Today John and Michele Truchard own and operate this successful brand. They feature small vineyard sites from the Oak Knoll District, Carneros and Coombsville regions, and showcase their wines in the downtown Napa tasting lounge. They manage a small team of dedicated team members and push them to create something special with each and every client interaction. John and Michele have redefined the traditional Napa Valley experience with the introduction of custom vineyard tours, late night tastings, and an incredible line up of events.

The label has focused on the Chinese market and in 2015 was the best-selling premium California wine brand by value in China. In 2016, Yao Family Wines opened a tasting room in St Helena. The inaugural 2009 vintage was launched in 2011. The brand started with two Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons, a core Yao Ming bottling and the Yao Ming Family Reserve. Around half of Hall's wines come from around 300 acres (120 hectares) of estate vineyards in St Helena, while the rest comes from a number of grower vineyards throughout Rutherford, St Helena, Atlas Peak and the Alexander Valley. Grapes are handpicked block by block in each vineyard, with individual plots depending on soil type and terroir. The majority of the red grapes are then taken to the Hall winery in Rutherford, whereas the Sauvignon Blanc grapes and the fruit for the Napa Valley Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon wines are taken to the winery in St Helena for vinification. An early proponent of sustainable agriculture, Hall's Bergfeld Winery in St Helena was California’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified winery in 2013. Hall uses both natural and select-strain yeasts for fermentation. Some of the wines go through malolactic fermentation in small French...

Producer: Robert Mondavi Winery Vintage: 2017 Size: 750ml ABV: 14.5% Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon Country/Region: United states, Monterey County Layered and complex, their Bourbon Barrel-aged Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with aromas of blackberry cobbler, graham cracker, brown sugar, milk chocolate, coffee and smoke. A palate of blueberry pie, praline, sweet vanilla custard, caramel and mocha is framed by soft, chewy tannins and a hint of toasted oak on the lingering finish. Producer Information Robert Mondavi Winery is one of the most prominent wine producers in Napa Valley. Founded in 1966 by Robert Mondavi himself, the company is widely credited with kickstarting the modern era of California's wine industry. Robert Mondavi Winery makes a range of wines, from the value-driven Woodbridge and Private Selection labels to collectable, age-worthy wines from Napa Valley's famed To Kalon vineyard. Mondavi founded the winery after a less-than-amicable split from his family's business, Charles Krug. His stated aim was to swap quantity for quality, believing that good wine could be made in the valley. To Kalon, originally planted in 1868, became the epicenter of his estate, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc (often labeled Fumé Blanc in California) providing the backbone of the Mondavi range. Over the years, Mondavi has employed some of Napa's most famous winemakers, including Mike Grgich (of Chateau Montelena), Warren Winiarski (of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars) and Zelma Long (of Simi Winery). Today, the winery makes wines from a host of grape varieties, including Merlot, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir and Moscato. The range spans vineyards throughout Napa, including sites in Carneros and Stags Leap.

The palate is fruit-forward with underlying notes of rich cocoa and leather. Reviews: Wine Advocate: A barrel sample of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is opaque purple-black colored and bursts flamboyantly from the glass, revealing notes of spice cake, potpourri, Ceylon tea and incense notes over a core of black currant cordial, black forest cake and baked blackberries with a waft of dusty soil. The palate is full, rich, spicy and seductive with a velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed. James Suckling: Delightfully ripe, with succulent blackberry, plum and cassis flavors rolled together, carried by a well-buried graphite edge and ending with a flurry of additional fruit, while licorice and violet notes chime in. Shows the slight toothy edge of the vintage, but has enough fruit to succeed. Producer Information Hall Wines is a wine producer located in St Helena, in California's Napa Valley. It specializes in wines made from the Bordeaux varieties, and in particular Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. The estate was founded by Katheryn Walt Hall and her husband Craig after she inherited vineyards from her father – a grapegrower in the region. An early proponent of sustainable agriculture, Hall's Bergfeld Winery in St Helena was California’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified winery...

Producer: Chimney Rock Vintage: 2019 Size: 750ml ABV: 14.5% Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon Country/Region: United States, Stags Leap District A fragrant nose of plums, dark cherries, mulberries, dried flowers, sweet spices and violets. Medium- to full-bodied with firm, fine tannins and fresh acidity. Velvety and creamy. Pretty purple fruit and floral notes on a supple finish.

Producer Information A commitment to classic Napa Valley style sets Heritance wines apart and deeply roots them in America’s most celebrated wine region. As the cornerstone Napa brand of the Taub Family Vineyards, Heritance produces wines from the best mid-valley sites in St. Helena, Yountville, Oakville and Rutherford – including the renowned Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III. The family’s roots in the California wine business date back to the days just following the end of Prohibition. Three generations of Taubs, starting with Martin Taub (left) and David S. Taub (center), have contributed to an illustrious and enterprising legacy in the wine and spirits trade. Inspired by his family’s legacy, Taub Family Vineyards was launched in 2013 by Marc D. Taub (right), President & CEO of Taub Family Companies which includes Palm Bay International and Taub Family Selections. The Beauty of Napa is the diversity of its soils: older and mineral driven on the slopes of the Mayacamus and Vaca Mountain ranges, with alluvial fans of primarily gravelly, sandy and loamy clay on the valley floor. Rutherford soils are dominated by the Franciscan marine sedimentary materials with some volcanic deposits. The Mediterranean climate allows for a long, dry summer with warm days and cool nights, and light summer rainfall, with a low risk for vineyard disease. Under the experienced eye of chief winemaker Tom Hinde, Heritance wines uphold a tradition of elegance. Former President and CEO of Flowers Winery, Tom’s experience in California winemaking is considerable. While he is involved in every aspect of the growing and winemaking process, he also finds time to promote the wines across the country, working with Marc Taub to showcase the beauty of Napa Valley in every bottle of Heritance.

Producer Information Charles Krug is the oldest commercially run winery in Napa Valley, California. Founded in 1861, the winery is located in the St Helena appellation and is owned by the Mondavi family. The wine portfolio is expansive and includes the most notable Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon. Charles Krug was a Prussian immigrant, and founded the winery when he was 27 years old. He introduced the cider press as a tool for winemaking, and the original press can still be seen at the winery today. After he died in 1892, the winery went into the hands of James Moffitt, who sold it to Cesare Mondavi in 1943. Mondavi left it to his sons, Peter and Robert, until a falling out over the direction of Charles Krug saw Robert Mondavi leave to begin his own winery. Peter Mondavi Sr made Charles Krug into the legend that it is today. He introduced several innovations including research on cold fermentation, experimentation with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in what is now the Carneros region, cold, sterile filtration techniques, and aging wine in small, French oak barrels. Mondavi became President of Charles Krug in 1976, and was named one of the 12 "Living Legends" in 1999 by the Napa Valley Vintners Association. He died in February, 2016, leaving the winery to his sons Marc and Peter Jr.

It’s an incredibly interesting contrast that’s easily identifiable now but will mellow in time. There’s an abundance of purity and freshness as the palate leans toward cool character with layer after layer of raspberry jam, cocoa, strawberry and clove. While not overly coarse, the tannins are persistent and mouthcoating, a perfect balance to the laser-focused seam of acidity that slowly yields to the stony minerality that’s typical of wine from the Estate. Polished and persistent, the finish transitions from mineral to cassis and then glides through ripe plum adorned with allspice and espresso. Delicate notes of vanilla and mint slowly come into focus leaving an extraordinarily complex and delicious experience to behold. Reviews: Vinous: The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate shows the racier, more voluptuous side of the vintage. A burst of super-ripe red cherry fruit, spice, mint, tobacco and cedar gives the wine an extra kick of exoticism that is a signature of the year, and a bit out of character for Montelena. Even so, the wine retains its super-classic sense of structure. Today, the 2017 is clearly still recovering from its recent bottling a few months ago, but it has so much to offer. Producer Information Chateau Montelena is one of the most prominent Napa Valley wineries. It was directly associated with bringing international recognition to the California wine industry through the 1976 Judgment of Paris. Based in Calistoga, it is famous for its varietal Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines. Despite its claim to fame with Chardonnay, the flagship wine of Chateau Montelena has actually been its Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. It was born in the early 1980s, when the estate vines had matured enough to start producing quality fruit. After fermentation in stainless steel, it is barrel-aged in a...

A thick entry, with mixed berry flavors, lush and structured midpalate with great backbone of coating, ageable tannin. Full and mouthwatering with flavors of plum, blackberry all the way through to the end. Layers of toasted sweet oak are well integrated, adding structure and support to the ripe fruit flavors. Producer Information Far Niente Winery was established in Napa Valley, California, in 1885 by John Benson. It is a producer of premium Cabernet Sauvignon and one of the most storied California wineries. Benson was the uncle of American impressionist painter Winslow Homer and a "forty-niner" – he travelled to California in 1849 during the California Gold Rush that saw a huge influx of people into the region. Benson bought land in Oakville and had a gravity-flow winery built and vineyards planted. The estate was profitable until Prohibition (1920-1933) caused the winery to be abandoned. In 1979 Gil Nickel bought the winery and adjacent vineyards and began to refurbish them. The Benson name was kept until the words "far niente" were found inscribed in stone at the front of the winery – part of the Italian expression il dolce far niente or 'without a care'. A red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and a white wine made from Chardonnay are the only wines produced, and the first vintages (1979, ’80, ’81) were vinified offsite until the restoration was completed in 1982. The winery is now on the National Register for Historic Places. In 1998 a bottle of Far Niente Sweet Muscat from 1886 was discovered in a private California cellar. The bottle looks to be the oldest intact bottle of Californian wine, and the label is believed to have been illustrated by Winslow Homer. There are several vineyards in the Oakville appellation that provide grapes for the Far Niente wines. The Martin Stelling vineyard provides fruit for the Cabernet Sauvignon, and bounds Heitz Cellar's famous Martha's Vineyard, as well as Harlan Estate. Fruit for the Chardonnay comes from several vineyards in Coombsville, a cooler area just east of Napa town. In 1989, Gil Nickel founded Dolce, a California winery focused entirely...

Producer Information Juicy Rebound found its origins and inspiration in France where we lived and worked for many years. One common theme we kept hearing from people who had traveled in France was “ …we just love the simple café and restaurant wines in France, they are so delicious!” We decided to make Juicy Rebound wines with that character of those satisfying café wines that the French call “vins de soif” (thirst-quenching wines). Our wines are ready to enjoy at a moment’s notice, versatile at table, and appreciated by experienced as well as novice wine drinkers. In our winemaking life we come across vineyards and wines that are too good to ignore, We give them a second chance or a “Juicy Rebound”. Our working days in Napa and Sonoma Valley give us unprecedented exposure to great wines at very real prices. We have access to much of this top end fruit since large wineries cannot be burdened with smaller fermenters or small bottlings. That’s where we at Juicy can offer you top-end wines that may sell for 3-4 times the price elsewhere given their pedigree. Juicy Rebound is an opportunity to score wines that winemaker’s drink on their weekends. It is a collection of wines that are fun, delicious, juicy and never pretentious. We are thrilled to offer a broad range of wines from small and great appellations. Medium- bodied, the palate is delicately played, elegant, soft-textured and refreshing, delivering loads of black and red berry sparks and a mineral-laced finish. James Suckling: Lots of currants and blackberries on the nose with some violets, following through to a full body with round, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. Nice balance and freshness to this. Always well balanced. From organically grown grapes. Producer Information Grgich Hills Estate is a historic fixture in Napa Valley, founded by Miljenko "Mike" Grgich in the Rutherford AVA in 1977. The winery produces an array of wines from five estate vineyards located throughout the valley. Mike Grgich gained notoriety for crafting the 1973 vintage of Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that ranked top at the famous Judgment of Paris tasting in 1976, beating out some of Burgundy's most famous white wines. As a result, Grgich Hills Estate's Chardonnay is one of the more popular wines in the range, sourced from cooler vineyards in American Canyon and Carneros. With no malolactic fermentation, this is a fresher style of Chardonnay with bright acidity. As with most Napa wineries, Grgich also produces a line up of rich and bold red wines, including a Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Grgich Estate Zinfandel is sourced from the vineyard in Calistoga, Napa's warmest AVA. The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are sourced from a few estate vineyards, and are blended together each vintage to yield the optimal result. Estate vineyards are cultivated in Calistoga, Rutherford, Carneros, and Yountville with 163 acres (65ha) of the total 366 acres (148ha) in American Canyon.

Producer: Chimney Rock Vintage: 2013 Size: 750ml ABV: 14.5% Varietal: Cabernet Franc Country/Region: United States, Stags Leap District This wine shows terrific balance and harmony. Quite delicate and smooth texture on the long finish.

Medium-bodied, creamy and delicious. Pretty tension of fruit and tannins. Reviews: Wine Advocate: Lighter in hue and less generously fruited than many other recent vintages, Spottswoode's 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is minty and red-fruited, with cherries dominating the nose and medium-bodied palate. In this tasting, it came across as slightly herbal and astringent on the finish, so perhaps it's merely going through a closed phase in its evolution and will improve from here. Best After 2023. Jeb Dunnuck: Looking at the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which was bottled two months prior to my tasting, it too has a Château Margaux-like complexity and elegance, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, sandalwood, dried flowers, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil. Harvested all pre-fire, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, silky tannins, and remarkable purity, all making for a quintessential Spottswoode that’s going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and keep for 20+ years. The complexity comes from the wineries signature 'coastal sage' which you will find on both the nose and palate. Notes of vanilla, leather, black and blue fruit will be found while discovering this wine. Producer Information In 1996, with forty years of winemaking experience, Jim and Mary Dierberg’s dream of producing wines worthy of their 250 year plan became a reality. After a long search through France and Napa, while learning the craft and making wine in the mid-west, they discovered the potential of Santa Barbara’s cool coastal valleys. The family planted two estates -first their namesake Dierberg Vineyard and later Drum Canyon Vineyard – both under their DIERBERG label. These estates, along with the family’s iconic warm climate site Star Lane Vineyard, culminated in a trio of peerless properties in Santa Barbara County. Jim and Mary are no newcomers to wine. Since 1974, they’ve owned the Hermannhof Winery in Hermann, Missouri, which was one of the United States’ most significant wine-growing regions prior to Prohibition. Located about an hour’s drive west of St. Louis, Hermannhof is one of America’s oldest wineries. The Dierbergs have dedicated the past 40 years to renovating the property and raising its reputation as a place for education and entertainment. While the town’s history and charm brought the Dierbergs to Hermann, the region’s Midwestern climate cannot support the traditional European varietals that Jim and Mary have become fans of over the years. In the 1980s, the Dierbergs began looking outside of Missouri for a place to plant that passion. After realizing that properties in Bordeaux and Napa Valley weren’t suitable for their desires, they chanced upon the Santa Barbara area in 1996. Today, the entire operation is one big family affair, with the Dierbergs’ grown children and their spouses intimately involved in the day-to-day operations of the vineyard and...
