On the palate, a beautiful minerality conferred by the very limestone soils of the terroir brings finesse and harmony, while the grapefruit introduces an enjoyable tension which carries the finish. Producer Information Founded in 1987 in Chippis in Valais, “Les Bernunes” was at the time a very young estate. Winemaking then took place in the cellar of the family home. It is with great attention and work respectful of the vines that the estate has grown, improving its quality over time. In 1994, the Zufferey family finally built their cellar in Les Bernunes. Expansion work was carried out in 2013 to build, among other things, a wine workshop, a barrel cellar, a reception room and a terrace with a magnificent view of the vineyards. The family farm employs 5 to 6 people, joined by occasional help during pruning and green work. The transmission of knowledge and know-how between generations has begun. Respect for the environment, the product and the land is a common concern. The promotion of the Bernunes terroir is another. The Zufferey family puts product quality at the center of its work and demonstrates this in particular with the creation of a range of wines specific to the Bernunes terroir.

Producer: Claudy Clavien La Cave des Champs Vintage: 2021 Size: 500ml ABV: 13.8% Varietal: Petite Arvine Country/Region: Switzerland, Valais Surely one of the most beautiful white wine jewels that Valais has. Typically Valais in its belief, this wine is distinguished by very beautiful notes of wisteria or exotic fruits and on the palate by a final salinity. Wine which can be enjoyed in its youth or which can delight lovers of old wine. Producer Information Cultivating the vines with attention and passion is the secret of the Domaine. Independent winegrowers for three generations, the Clavien family takes care of the family wine estate, which today extends over eleven hectares. The richness of the local vineyard is due to its geological history: the great landslide of Sierre is among the two most important in Switzerland. When the Rhône glacier retreated, a mass of a billion cubic meters of limestone rock broke away from the mountain. Monumental blocks have collapsed into the plain. There are still some very beautiful hills The alternation of layers with different textures illustrates the region's wine-growing soils very well. The vine draws its strength from these sediments deposited over time. It can sink its roots there and thus draw deep down the elements necessary for its development. In the fall, its grapes mature thanks to the generous sunshine of the Valais microclimate. Claudy and his daughter Shadia share a love of viticulture and oenology. Their wines are pampered, pampered and aged for a long time before being bottled. They invite you to discover a wonderful terroir through their different wines, all AOC.

Around Sierre and Grange they have the driest climate in Switzerland with the Rhône creating some cool fog in the morning and often the warm wind Foehn (or the cold Bise) drying everything. They have warm dry summers and perfect mellow autumns. It might be in the heart of the Alps but they don't have problems with maturation, almost anything can mature here. People don't believe that it can be an oenologue's dream but it really is. Robert grows both international and native grape varieties – "I'm very happy to have been selected as one of the first four Swiss winemakers for the Best of 2012, and I am very proud that 11 wines that we make from 11 different varieties made that selection. It shows how special Valais is as a winemaking region. Almost every variety can reach full maturity here."

Producer: Cave des Remparts Vintage: 2022 Size: 700ml ABV: 13% Varietal: Petite Arvine Country/Region: Switzerland, Valais Delicate and impressive depth on the nose. The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting. Producer Information The culture of vine and wine is a tradition handed down from generation to generation in our family. With passion and patience, forbearers passed to each successive generation their knowledge and love for the earth and the natural world. This inheritance today can be traced back to the 15 th century. Vines have been cultivated in the Auxerre area since the 2nd century. In the Middle Ages, the area was almost exclusively farmland. By the 1950’s, however we counted 40,000 hectares (100,000 acres) of vines in the Auxerrois vineyards, making it the most important wine production area of France. After the ravages of the phylloxera in the 1880s, Henri Sorin, our great-great grandfather quickly reconstituted his vineyard. He was one of the first winegrowers in Saint-Bris to plant vines of Aligoté with grafted grapevines. Later, at the beginning of the 20th century, the first Sauvignon vines were also planted in Saint-Bris. In turn, Gaston Sorin and later André Sorin, increased their wine production by improving the techniques of wine-making. In addition. they developed the sale of wine in the Paris region, first in barrels and then in bottles. With Patrick and Jean-Marc by his side, " André Sorin and Sons " became “Domaine des Remparts” in 1982. Together they enlarged the vineyard and improved the winery, building new accommodations for the vinification and aging the wines. They invested in wine-making equipment and in particular in a grape harvester in 1986, marking the end of the manual grape harvests. While viticulture was formerly just a complement to cereal crops and to the production of cherries in the region, it is the main activity of our domain. Thomas Sorin, who represents the 19th generation of winemakers in our family, joined Patrick (his father) and Jean-Marc on the estate in the 2000’s. He brought new energy to wine-making and a second infusion of modernity into the Domaine des Remparts by constructing a new winery and introducing new vinification methods for our wines.

Floral, with fragrant notes of jasmine, peony, apple, plum and citrus fruits. Tasty and fresh vein. Balanced on the palate, with marine undertones and lively minerality. Producer Information Valle d’Aosta is located in the northwest Italy. Surrounded by the Alps, the Valle d’Aosta is home to the highest elevated vineyards in all of Europe. Founded in 1989 by Costantino Charrere and Jolanda Plat, Les Cretes is one of only a few commercial wineries in the quaint region of Valle D'Aosta. The winery is located in Aymavilles with the cellar lying one mile from Monte Bianco tunnel. Comprised of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, as well as the indigenous varieties of Petit Rouge, Fumin, Petite Arvine and Gros Rouge, with 60 acres of vineyards in 6 communes along the river Dora Baltea. Until recently, their entire annual production of a few thousand cases was sold entirely within Italy. Originally from France, the Charrère family moved in the mid-1700s to what is now the Aosta Valley of Italy. They started out as farmers and millers, establishing a home site and building a water powered mill on their property in Aymaville. In 1955 the Charrères planted their first two hectares of grapes, focusing on making quality wines out of the indigenous vinifera varieties grown in the Aosta Valley. In 1989 the Charrères enlarged the original estate and built the Les Crêtes winery. The old mill and home site will soon be restored for use as an agritourism destination. Because the Charrères believe great wines always start with quality grapes, vineyard management at Les Crêtes is firmly based on a meticulous agronomic management system. Spraying to control diseases is kept to a minimum to protect the regions delicate terroir and to follow the new E.U. rural policies for preserving mountainous areas. The soils that have developed over the centuries on the glacial hillsides around Aymaville are composed of a mixture of sand and calcareous rocks. Les Crêtes vineyards are located at relatively high mountain elevations (600 to 1,000 m. /1,970 to 3,280 ft.), and due to the high elevation climatic conditions, the harvests at Les Crêtes often begin in late autumn. This gives the grapes time to ripen while exposed to a wide variation in day and night temperatures, a natural process which adds to the...

The palate is both vinous and mineral, giving the impression of an endless finish. Producer Information Our four-hectare vineyard was born in 2007 from the shared passion of four friends with a love of the world’s finest wines. Four friends – four musketeers, you might say – inspired by the desire to make fine wines on this magnificent terroir. We are privileged to be able to grow fine grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cornalin, Humagne Rouge and Diolinoir, as well as Petite Arvine, Païen, Humagne Blanche, Chardonnay and Malvoisie. Although James Paget and Alexandre Challand spend their days in the world of finance in Geneva, London and Zurich, Patrick Regamey, our famous flying doctor, is always on hand to offer his vast wine-making experience to the estate. Surrounded by a three-person team, Alexandre Plassat, a talented young agronomist handles the day-to-day management of the vineyard, from the vines to the cellars. He took over the reins from another Frenchman, Benoit Paris. The vineyard’s three founders are still surrounded by young talent. In November 2018, Elio Moreno, a multilingual globetrotter from Naples succeeded his friend Alexandre Plassat. The vineyard’s three founders are still surrounded by young talent driven to work on the future of winegrowing with vines free from synthetic products or herbicides. The team, now a quartet, is symbolised by the letter D, the fourth letter of the alphabet and the symbol on our label. The estate now grows wine on almost 11 hectares of land. All with the same passion and desire to produce fine wines!

Producer: Cave de la Petite Revolution Vintage: 2015 Size: 375ml ABV: 15% Varietal: Grenache, Syrah, Merlot Country/Region: France, Provence The Visionnaire 2015 is a huge wine with a voluminous as well as noble bouquet, aromas of superripe berry fruits mate with the noble wood note of the premium barriques. The huge extract of this monster wine hides the 15% alcohol completely, the wine is tremendously lively, perfectly balanced, of great complexity, long and smooth on the finish. This noble groth is not only outstanding in Provence, it definitely competes with the very best wine icons of the world. Producer Information Cave de La Petite Révolution: "Where can you find perfect conditions to make a great French wine, with the precision of Bordeaux, the uniqueness of Burgundy and the power of Châteauneuf-du-Pape? For this demanding project we conducted a long and complex research and identified parcels in the Var region between Draguignan and Fayence that displayed a very special terroir and found some old, magnificent vines. Quality Accepts No Compromise. Therefore our innovative vineyard concept called Diva Viticulture reduces the yields per plant from traditional 2-3 kg down to less than 250 g. This radical and expensive approach leads to a very high and long lasting aroma concentration. For the winemaking we use an ancient wine cellar from the 17th century, “Cave de La Petite Revolution.” It was carefully restored and brought back into the traditional methods of producing wine. This micro cellar, with a maximum capacity of only 6 barriques per vintage, is located in the ancient centre of the romantic village of Roquebrune sur Argens. In a „classic“ year, solely two barrels are dedicated for the Grand Vin „Visionnaire“ and „À l’Attention des Divins“, two barrels for the wild brother „Salaux“ and one barrel for „la g.“, our Enfant Terrible"

Producer Information Domaine Jean-René Germanier is located in the hamlet of Balavaud in Vétroz in the canton of Valais and covers 60 hectares in AOC Valais. The 40-year-old vines on average benefit from state-of-the-art viticulture that respects the environment. Gilles Besse, the associate oenologist believes that everything happens first in the vineyard. For this reason, he works with the most total respect for his land by sublimating the most beautiful indigenous grape varieties of the region (Fendant, Petite Arvine, Humagne, Cornalin, Syrah and many others...) thus expressing the ultimate quintessence. of this very particular micro-climate: Almost southern sunshine, cool temperatures and protected from icy winds thanks to the imposing alpine massifs. To achieve constant improvement, Jean-René and Gilles have also chosen to reduce the yields of their vines in order to obtain more concentrated wines. Gilles Besse is a curious man who is always working to improve and test new blends. Finally, we will end with a quote from Jean-René Germanier which perfectly sums up the philosophy of the estate: "a winemaker must distinguish himself not by a prestige cuvée produced in confidential quantities but by irreproachable quality across the entire range".

This nectar is refreshing, perfect for an aperitif and moments of frank camaraderie. Producer Information It is the desire to create great wines in exceptional terroirs, to try to best reveal the qualities of indigenous Valais grape varieties in an authentic environment and to give the wine time to grow in freshness, darkness and calm of the cellar. Our farm was created in 2008, so after vinifying the first vintage in a mazot, then in a tractor garage in Fully, we found a more suitable location in the town of Saillon. We moved into this new cellar in 2011 and although the winemaking facilities are recent, the work remains essentially artisanal. Our vines are maintained manually due to the complicated topography of the steep hillsides (8.2 ha), made up of small terraces which range from 450 to 900 m. altitude. The climate is extraordinarily favorable to the vines, but in order to always guarantee impeccable quality and optimal maturity of the berries we carry out drastic sorting of the harvest. The yields are low and adapted to the vigor of each of the parcels, to ensure a good concentration of aromas and grape polyphenols.

Producer: MetaPhusis Vintage: 2018 Size: 750ml ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Petite Arvine Country/Region: Switzerland, Vaud The palate is an explosion of delicate flavors, nice and delightful mouthfeel. Quite delicate and smooth texture on the long finish. Producer Information Steve Bettschen purchased a vineyard in 2007 with no intention of making wine himself–he hired a company to work the vineyards for him, but when that didn’t work out, he took things into his own hands and the rest, as they say, was history. Today, he works his vineyards almost entirely by hand on his own (with some occasional help from a horse). Between his own vineyards and those from which he sources fruit, Steve has a multitude of different terroirs as well as different styles of farming. As he says, “each of my suppliers has a big personality, and that influences their viticulture. The human aspect enriches the project as well, in my opinion.” A small, old-fashioned vertical press is used for all grapes, except those destined for traditional-method sparkling wine. Whites are fermented and aged in barrel, while reds are fermented in stainless steel then aged in barrel. All fermentations take place with native yeasts. Wines are bottled via gravity, and left unfiltered when possible. In general, he lets time do its work and uses pumps and machines as little as possible. He does use a bit of SO2 because he feels that without it, it’s necessary to intervene more to control the temperature, which uses a significant amount of energy and thus has a negative impact on his carbon footprint. The goal, in Steve’s words, is to create wines that “express the energy of the places they come from.”

It is the most charming wine in the collection, early drinkable, yet profound, enormously concentrated and with an immense length in the finale. Gregor Drescher made a great Guillotine in 2016. Great elegance and length on the finish. Producer Information Didier Joris is a legendary figure in the Valais, where the history of wine would be unthinkable without him. He grew up in a farming family that initially concentrated on raising cattle. To this very day, Didier still raves about «his Queens», the Hérens fighting cows. It was only during the 1960s and 1970s that the Joris family began to terrace slopes to plant vines and cultivate vineyards. As the family did not have much expertise in this sector at that time, young Didier attended the Agricultural College of Châteauneuf. From there he went on to complete an internship in Germany, where he not only gained experience in viticulture, but also as a baker, butcher and in wine laboratories. After qualifying at Changins, he began working as a lecturer and researcher at the College of Oenology and Viticulture at the age of 21. He taught such greats as Marie-Thérèse Chappaz, Jean-René Germanier, Denis Mercier, Marie Bernard Gillioz and numerous other talents.

Producer Information Domaine Hubert Lignier (formerly Hubert Lignier & Fils and also known as Hubert et Laurent Lignier) is a family-run domaine in Burgundy, producing both red and wines. The estate is located in Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits subregion and is best known for its Pinot Noir wines from the grand cru vineyard Clos de la Roche. It is owned and run by the father-son duo Hubert and Laurent Lignier. The estate is made up of around nine hectares (22 acres) of vineyard land that ranges from the basic Bourgogne appellation to grand cru. Vineyard holdings are primarily located in the villages of Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Chambolle-Musigny, with newer vineyards acquired in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Pommard. Pinot Noir is the primary grape variety produced by the domaine, but Chardonnay, Gamay, and Aligoté are also included in the portfolio. Hubert Lignier practices traditional methods in the vineyard to showcase the terroir of each appellation, but practices interventionalist methods for vinification. Wines are left to age for 20-22 months in barrel, and are left unracked and on the lees after malolactic fermentation. Hubert Lignier wines are bottled without fining. Hubert Lignier himself had stepped back from running his domaine in the early 1990s, leaving the reins to his son, Romain. Romain tragically died in 2004 and Hubert returned to winemaking with his other son Laurent. The transition was not smooth, however. Following his death, Romain's widow, Kellen, established the Lucie & Auguste Lignier label (named after the couple's young children) in 2006, using vines leased to Romain by his father. Over this period, Hubert and Laurent Lignier produced wines under the Hubert Lignier & Fils title, with limited access to fruit under the sharecropping agreement with Kellen Lignier. Kellen Lignier produced wines under the Lucie & Auguste Lignier title until 2013. Since then, all Hubert Lignier's vineyard holdings are now labeled under his name.

Reviews: Wine Advocate: There is one barrel of the 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Haut Densité, an extraordinary wine that transcends its appellation. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of ripe lemons, dried white flowers and beeswax, the wine is medium to full-bodied, immensely layered and concentrated, with an electric sense of energy, incredible texture and a searingly mineral finish. The wine's combination of amplitude, satiny glossiness and weightlessness is magical, surpassing many grands crus, and despite its comparatively lowly appellation I have scored it accordingly. Vinous: The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Haut Densité has a very tightly wound and precise bouquet at first. The nose is backward with fleeting scents of cold wet limestone and sea spray, but it gradually gains intensity and articulates the vineyard. The palate is well balanced with strong saline notes, intense and focused with fine depth towards the finish. Excellent. There is just a single 350-litre barrel of this, around 450 bottles or so. Producer: Domaine Hubert Lamy Vintage: 2018 Size: 750ml ABV: 13.8% Varietal: Chardonnay Country/Region: France, Burgundy Delicate and impressive depth on the nose. The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting. Producer Information Domaine Hubert Lamy is a wine estate based in Saint-Aubin, Burgundy, producing well-regarded wines from that appellation. The domaine also has holdings in neighboring appellations in the Côte de Beaune, including a tiny plot in the Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, several holdings in Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, and beyond. The domain was established in 1973, but the Lamy family history of vine growing in Saint-Aubin dates back to 1640. Since setting up, Hubert Lamy has passed management of the domaine onto his son, the Méo-Camuzet-trained Olivier Lamy and his wife Karine. The estate now covers just under 20 hectares (50 acres) across Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay. However, the majority of the domaine vineyards are in Saint-Aubin, with around two-thirds of the holdings are given to Chardonnay and the remaining third, Pinot Noir. The soils are mainly comprised of the classic, ancient clay-limestone combination of the Côte d'Or, and, nominally, the domaine's best land is a tiny 0.05 hectare (0.12 acre) plot in Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. Lamy's Chardonnay is fermented in barrels ranging from one to five years old and is bottled after 12-18 months of aging. Large format oak barrels, or hogsheads (between 300 and 600-liters in capacity) are preferred over the more regular 228L Burgundy barriques and around 30 percent of the oak is new wood. The vinification for Pinot Noir includes a small portion of whole cluster bunches in the ferment but, for the majority, the grapes are destemmed prior to fermentation. Secondary fermentation occurs in barrels and the red wines are racked, fined and filtered, then botted after 12-18 months of barrel maturation.

Producer: Domaine Hubert Lignier Ratings: WA 90 Vintage: 2019 Size: 750ml Varietal: Pinot Noir Country/Region: France, Burgundy The taste of wine is very elegant, with tangible, but rounded tannins and an unusually long, silky finish. Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2019s, according to Laurent Lignier, possess 'all the characteristics of great Pinot Noir,' and that's an analysis with which I would concur. He has once again produced a fine vintage for both his domaine holdings and négociant sources—the latter, amounting to some 3.5 hectares of vines, now clearly distinguished in our reviews. As readers will know, winemaking is pretty classical at this address, with a short cold maceration, two to three weeks' maceration with one pigéage and one rémontage per day and maturation in barrels, some third of which are new—if possible, without racking—for fully 22 months in the domaine's cold cellars. Lignier began picking on September 16, and alcohol levels range between 13.5% and 14.7%, the latter extreme representing the exception rather than the rule. Tasting through the wines, the vast majority of which were in barrel and had not been racked, the most obvious analogy was with the domaine's 2015s at the same stage—but I look forward to revisiting them from bottle to confirm that impression. Wines are left to age for 20-22...
