Like Abraham Lincoln himself, Booker designed Knob Creek Bourbon to be honest, unwavering and full of character. Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon is made in small batches, aged for nine years and bottled at 100 proof according to Booker’s original standards. To commemorate this year’s Belmont Stakes, Knob Creek has released the very special Knob Creek 2015 Belmont Stakes Kentucky Straight Bourbon bottle, which is adorned with a checkered mix of pale blues and a horse rider’s silhouette. It’s technically a Zinfandel since it has more than 75% Zin. But the flavors defy that classification. Producer Information Homefire Vineyard – We wanted to show that wines are better if made from vineyards that use organic-style farming methods. We created this vineyard from the ground up. The top 12-inches of soil are loam which becomes increasingly dense with depth. Our initial collection of Zinfandel vines are a St Peter’s Church clone grafted onto 110R rootstock which is well-suited to our soil conditions. The soil is balanced with natural components including more than 12-tons of compost per acre to date. Hales Vineyard – The old vines were planted in 1952. Half the vineyard is trellised, the other half, head pruned. Wilfred Wong calls the wine produced from these vines “classic Dry Creek Zin.” Mia’s Secret – This vineyard lies on a slope 1,200 feet above the valley. You’ll cross a couple streams and a washed out road to get there. But Zinfandel grown there is unlike any we’ve tasted; rich, mountain fruit, dark berry flavors and an exotic essence unique to the site.

Producer: Liquid Farm Ratings: WA 95 VN 92 Vintage: 2019 Size: 750ml ABV: 13% Varietal: Chardonnay Country/Region: United States, California Stylistically inspired by Chablis. All Sta. Rita Hills vineyards, barrel fermented and aged 10 months in neutral French Oak. A crisp Chardonnay that highlights Sta. Rita Hills unique minerality. Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2019 Chardonnay White Hill is energetic and pure, with scents of lemon peel, tangy yogurt, crushed shell and hazelnut. The palate is shimmery and perfumed, with nutty tones hinting at more savory complexity to come with bottle age. It has a fine, chalky texture that anchors the very long finish, and the overall style nods to a great Chablis. Vinous: The 2019 Chardonnay White Hill is a wild, exotic wine. Freshly cut flowers, mint, peach, crushed rocks and slate all race across the palate. This is an especially taut style. There is a hint of reduction that will probably dissipate in bottle. I am more concerned with the volatile acidity, which is at the limit of what most readers are likely to accept. Vineyard sources are Kessler-Haak, Clos Pepe and La Rinconada. Producer Information Liquid Farm’s first vintage was born of four barrels of 2009 Chardonnay. As a nearly 30-year wine industry veteran, it was Nelson’s experience working for Veuve Clicquot in the 1990s which helped to shape how Liquid Farm was formed. He went on to work for other champagne houses to help further his branding experience, but it was not until he was working for Champagne Henriot, which also owned William Fèvre Chablis and Bouchard Père et Fils, that he fell in love with Burgundy. Nelson, now a Santa Ynez Valley resident, explains, “Living in Los Angeles, I was a locavore when it came to food, but I didn’t ‘drink local’. In 2009, with friendship and guidance from Dragonette Cellars, I was able to produce 100 cases of Chardonnay from the Sta. Rita Hills, which resembled more of an old world style. It was what I enjoyed drinking, but grown closer to home.” Liquid Farm’s wine philosophy incorporates old world-inspiration meshed with the label’s support of local viticulture. Liquid Farm’s wines are earth- and mineral driven, with little or no use of new oak, shining a spotlight on the representation of the soil in which the vines producing their wines, have grown. Liquid Farm’s grapes are pulled from a carefully-curated selection of vineyards, some of which are...

Producer Information Oak Farm Vineyards, located in Lodi, California, sits at the heart of the historic DeVries estate with its centuries-old, majestic oak trees. He acquired his first taste for farming while driving a tractor in his family’s cherry and walnut orchards. It was a natural progression for Dan to move from the orchards into vineyards. The estate specializes in producing high-quality, single-block wines made predominantly from red wine grape varieties, particularly Shiraz. This original plot was extended in 2004 with the acquisition of the Clos Otto block and today, the Clos Otto Shiraz is the flagship of the Hentley Farm wine portfolio. It spends 22 months barrel-aging in French oak, approximately 50-percent of which are new. Hentley Farm's vineyards are planted to 70 percent Shiraz, and 17 percent Grenache as well a small portions of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. These vines are situated on clay soils that have substantial water retention properties, which is crucial for their survival during lengthy periods of low rainfall. Hentley Farm also sources Riesling grapes from two small vineyard blocks in the Eden Valley. These are used to make both a varietal Riesling wine, and the Poppy white-blend of Chardonnay, White Frontignac, Viognier and Pinot Gris.
