Producer: Boekenhoutskloof Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 14.7% Varietal: Syrah Country/Region: South Africa, Western Cape The nose is exceptionally intense and complex with red berry fruit juxtaposed against a dark, brooding fruit compote and Swartland violets. The nose exudes aromas of raspberry, mulberry, blackberry, damson, dark chocolate and liquorice with whiffs of cloves, nutmeg and orange rind. The wine has a soft, smooth entry, a rich mid-palate and the abundance of red and black berry fruit on the nose follows through with balanced acidity and svelte cocoa powdery tannins. Producer Information Boekenhoutskloof is one of South Africa's most prominent wine producers. Located in the Franschhoek Valley it is well-known for producing premium red wines, in particular The Chocolate Block which is an ever-changing blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Cinsaut, among others. The estate was established in 1776, and takes its name from the indigenous Cape Beech trees (boekenhout) which surround the property. It came under its current ownership in 1993, at which point the cellars and winery were revamped. The vineyard has approximately 20 hectares (50 acres) under vine, 75-percent of which is planted to red grape varieties. This includes Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Mourvedre along with the Chocolate Block varieties. White grapes planted at Boekenshoutskloof include Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. The Boekenhoutskloof portfolio is led by a range of single-varietal wines named for the estate as well as The Chocolate Block. These include a Syrah, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Semillon. The Wolftrap and Porcupine Ridge are Boekenhoutskloof's entry-level ranges, providing a range of easy-drinking, approachable red and white wines. In 2009 Boekenhoutskloof acquired two sites in Swartland to produce a premium varietal Syrah. The dry-climate, rocky bedrock and schist-based soils here create ideal terroir for the production of intense and perfumed Syrah.

On the palate, it is full and round with intense notes of allspice, liquorice and black pepper. Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2016 Swartland Syrah is unmistakable with a dark purple core and black pepper on the nose with mineral-driven, black-fruited concentration and a soft, smoky presence. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and purely Syrah with some oak influences and soft minerality on the back end, followed by a clean, precise and long finish. Tom Cannavan: In this blend 80% comes from Porseleinberg, 20% from the Gold Mine farm, both in Swartland. Made partially in foudre, part in concrete eggs, and all vines from schist soils. Quite sumptuous with its deep blue/black fruit concentration, a little rounding, sweet blackcurrant pastille character, soft and yet with a briary grip, plenty of racy, dry, earthy and polished fine tannins, some chalky acids to finish. Producer: Une Femme Wines Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 12% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: United States, California This wine delivers aromatic notes of honeysuckle, orange blossom, and Meyer lemon peel on the nose. In the glass, you'll find beautiful acidity, and flavors of crisp Asian pear, white peach, and Central Valley fruits. Hints of green apple, jasmine, and light florals create a soft and delicate finish. Producer Information As the founder of The Riddler, the all-women-funded Champagne bars in San Francisco and New York, I served tens of thousands of bottles of Champagne to the most stylish women on both coasts. While there, I realized that every time we put a woman-made wine on the list, it would outsell all others. I wondered why there wasn’t a modern sparkling wine brand for "women like us": made by women winemakers, giving back to women-centered charities, digitally native, contemporary in style, and available everywhere we ate, drank, shopped, and traveled. At Une Femme, we are building that brand. So, whether we’re toasting to a dream job, a first home, or progress towards a better world, Une Femme is raising a glass to women raising the bar.

Sourcing fruit from several AVA’s within Napa, Chandon focuses on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, made in both still and sparkling styles. Established in 1973, Domain Chandon was created by the Champagne producer Moët and Chandon and businessman John Wright. It was the first time that a sparkling wine house in Napa Valley was owned by the French. The sparkling wines are made with the traditional Champagne method. They range from easy drinking and affordable, such as the Brut Classic and Chandon Rosé, to the complex and rich Étoile Tête de Cuvée, only produced in certain vintages. Grapes are sourced from Napa’s cooler regions including Los Carneros, Mount Veeder, as well as the estate vineyard in Yountville. While sparkling wines are the focus at Domaine Chandon, still wines of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are also produced. Production is relatively large, and the wines can be found in numerous merchants around the United States and internationally. Domaine Chandon have expanded internationally with wineries located in Argentina, Brazil, China and India with Chandon Australia the most prolific. Domaine Chandon was famous for its Michelin-starred restaurant Étoile, the only fine dining restaurant located within a winery in Napa Valley. However, after 37 years of business, the restaurant closed its doors in 2014.

Founded by the eponymous filmmaker, famous for directing The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now, the business was sold in 2021 to Delicato Family Wines. The winery had the highest production among the varied Coppola wine estates and produced the group's value brands. It was created decades later to separate the different brands the Neibaum-Coppola estate had cultivated. Wanting to distinguish the Rubicon label (which at the time accounted for only around 5000 of the estate's 268,000 annual case production), Neibaum-Coppola changed its name to Rubicon (now Inglenook Winery after another name change in 2011) and moved the production of its other wines, including the Diamond Collection, to Sonoma, establishing the Francis Ford Coppola Winery. The Francis Ford Coppola Winery was built as a fairly lavish attraction among Sonoma wineries. It has multiple tasting bars, tours, two restaurants, a swimming pool, a movie gallery, performing arts pavilion and a park with bocce courts. Much of the film memorabilia which had drawn large crowds to the Inglenook estate has been relocated to the Francis Ford Coppola Winery to maintain the focus of Inglenook as a fine wine producer. Just north of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery is the Francis Ford Coppola Winery Too! of which was established to showcase the entire portfolio of wines from the Coppola Family holdings. This establishment is the home of the Virginia Dare label. In the 2021 sale, Coppola retained Inglenook winery and vineyard (where Francis and his wife Eleanor live) and Domaine de Broglie in Oregon.
