On the nose, the berries are immediately detectable and followed by hints of allspice and vanilla. Slightly less structured than a Cabernet Sauvignon but just as layered and satisfying, its tannins are firm yet plush. Producer Information Sterling Vineyards is a Napa Valley wine producer, founded by British businessman Peter Newton in 1964. The brand is most famous for producing the first vintage-dated Merlot in California in its inaugural 1969 vintage. Other wines produced in Sterling's 1969 vintage were Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The Sterling wine portfolio is led by the flagship Iridium Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from esate vineyards within the Napa Valley. After a hand-pick in the vineyardm the grapes are fermented in a combination of concrete, French oak and stainless steel tanks. It spends 18 months barrel-aging in new French oak prior to bottling.
