Glenury was founded by Captain Robert Barclay, the first man to walk 1000 miles in 1000 hours, the distillery underwent numerous fires and accidents all the way up until 1968 when its floor maltings were ceased. The distillery continued making whisky for two more decades until closure in 1983. The most famous of Glenury Royal bottlings is part of the Rare Malts Collection, a very prized part of that collection.
