Winemaking is not the sole occupation of the Bocelli family – it is also boasts the globally renowned opera singer Andrea Bocelli. Schramsberg produces its sparkling wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Flora sourced from multiple cool-climate vineyard sites in Napa, Sonoma, Anderson Valley, and in Marin County. There is also 17 hectares (41 acres) of vines in the Napa appellation of Diamond Mountain planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, used for the production of still wines under Schramsberg's Davies Vineyards label.

Producer Information Jean-Marc Sélèque returned to Pierry in 2008 after internships at Chandon’s facilities in Napa Valley and in Australia’s Yarra Valley with a vision of what he wanted to do - and didn’t want to do - at Champagne JM Sélèque. The positive ideas were simple, but labor intensive: in the vines, shallow plowing of rows by horse or tractor for weed control; reducing yields by careful pruning; organic and biodynamic applications to boost the health of soil and vine. In the cellar, he moved to much slower and more gentle fermentations, something he considers key for flavor and texture. He did this by lowering the temperature and working more with wild yeast (a lot of his fermentations are wild, but he’s not orthodox about that). He instituted longer ageing on the lees for all the cuvées, both in barrel or tank and subsequently in bottle for the secondary fermentation (that bottling is now done at the end of July following the harvest, which is a long and relaxed élevage, allowing a young wine to come together). He did away with fining, and gradually did away with filtration (completely stopping in 2015 when his new cellar gave him the measure of control he needed). Finally, because his farming reforms resulted in better maturity in his grapes, he lowered the level of sugar in the final dosage. The dosage and other specifics are admirably detailed on Jean-Marc’s back labels. The domaine began in 1965, when Jean-Marc’s grandfather started planting vines with the aid of his father-in-law (then the president of the Pierry co-op). Subsequently Jean-Marc’s father joined the domaine in 1974 after acquiring a degree in enology, and he did much to update the winery and augment its vineyard holdings. When Jean-Marc came on board in 2008, he turned the domaine toward the organic viticulture he envisioned. Producer Information Our vineyards are located on the eastern part of Vallet. The basement consists of mica-schists albitic two-micas. There is two advantages with this type of soil. The lamination of this schist will result in rapid flow of water. The soil warms more quickly in spring and generate an early start to the vine. This crumbly side of the rock also allows deep rooting of vines. The roots find clay areas rich in minerals which are useful in summer to water resources. The difference between plots concerns the orientation of the vines, slope, soil thickness and age of the vines. Our vineyard is located south of the Loire, 50km from the Atlantic Ocean enjoys a rather oceanic climate. The winters are rather mild which generates a rather early start of the vine. Sometimes too much because the risks of frost exist until May 10th. In 1991 we sprayed an anti-freeze system for our hillside chardonnays. Summers are relatively dry but with mild temperatures. On some wet years, we cut the leaves around the fruit area to ensure good ventilation of the berries and the best possible maturity. The vine suffers little drought and especially the balance between sugar / acid in the berries allows to obtain aromatic wines while keeping its freshness. This climate is important in the character of our wines and gives it a real originality.

As a family affair (Arpepe is a conflation of the founder's name: Arturo Pelizzatti Perego), Arpepe dates back to the 19th Century when it was established as Pelizzatti. Despite a solid reputation, rocky times in the 1970s saw the Pelizzatti family sell several vineyard plots and the original domaine name. The winemaking enterprise was revived in the mid-1980s as Arpepe and, over the years, some of the vineyards sold in the 70s come back under the control of the estate. The portfolio is headed by a range of Valtellina Superiore labels covering the Grumello, Inferno and Sassella DOCG subregions. Based on Chiavennasca (the local name for Nebbiolo), these often single-vineyard expressions also encompass stylistic variations, from the vine-raisined Ultimi Raggi (Sassella) to the use of chestnut oak barrels in the Sesto Canto Riserva (Inferno). An entry-level Rosso di Valtelina and Il Pettirosso (the latter a Valtellina Superiore blend of the three main subregions) – both from Chiavennasca, although "Nebbiolo" is used on the label – are also produced. The estate covers 13 hectares (32 acres) of vineyard, all in Valtellina. Winemaking is relatively traditional with a preference for steel and concrete tank fermentation and aging in oak vats and large-format oak barrels.
