The most expensive sparkling wine on the list, Le Premier, a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The cellars were less than 330 feet (100m) away from the German front line during the First World War and managed to survive, even though 80 percent of Reims was destroyed.

The palate is lively and fresh with a lightly honeyed finish. Reviews: Wine Advocate: Taittinger's NV Brut Reserve—a blend of more than 35 different vineyards, assembling 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, including 30% reserve wines—has a clear, fresh and vinous bouquet with Pinot Meunier flavors in front. Bottled in 2014 and disgorged in March 2017 with nine grams of dosage, this is a lithe and fresh but mouth-filling Brut with round and aromatic fruit. It tastes almost as charming as the Rosé Prestige yet less vinous and is rather lean and fresh. The lovely, fragrant sweetly fruity nose has ripe pear, crunchy red apple and zingy lemon. The palate is light and refreshing, but with a lovely fruit purity and intensity. Lingering silky palate and classy, creamy mousse. There is a lovely easiness and quaffing character to this. Producer Information Taittinger is one of Champagne's most famous houses. Based in the city of Reims, Taittinger is known for its Chardonnay-dominant cuvées, the pinnacle of which is the blanc de blancs prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne. The family-owned estate has approximately 290 hectares (710 acres) of vines, around half of which is planted to Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Meunier making up the rest. These vineyards contribute 50 percent of Taittinger's output, with the rest coming from growers who have historical relationships with the house. Taittinger's Brut Reserve NV is composed of 40 percent Chardonnay, with the two Pinots making up the remainder. This makes for a fresh and reasonably delicate house style. In addition to this, Taittinger makes a range of Champagne styles, including a demi-sec, several rosés and an array of single-vineyard, vintage and otherwise limited-edition wines. The Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's top wine, and was first made in the 1952 vintage. The grapes are mostly sourced from grand cru vineyards across Avizé, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Layered with delicate peach, rosemary, mushroom and white truffle notes. Producer Information Champagne Telmont is a house founded in 1912 and located at Damery in Épernay in the Vallée de la Marne. During the Champagne Riots of 1911 Henri Lhôpital composed the song "Gloire au Champagne", urging winemakers to keep their production standards high. The riots also compelled Henri to set up a new house under his own name the following year. André Lhôpital became the cellar master in 1937 following the death of his father. Two years later on the outbreak of war, André joined the Cuirassiers cavalry regiment, whose insignia features on the wine labels. He renamed the house as Champagne de Telmont in 1947, after one of his best vineyard plots (the 'de' was removed some decades later). The business moved to its current location in Damery in 1968. Serge Lhôpital ran the business from 1983 to 1998, before handing it over his children, the current generation, Bertrand and Pascale. Bertrand remained as Cellar Master and Head of Viticulture when drinks group Rémy Cointreau became majority shareholders in 2020. In 2022, film star Leonardo DiCaprio became a minority shareholder in the Telmont house. The business current and planned environmental policies played an important part in this.

Producer: Taittinger Ratings: WA 90 WE 91 Vintage: NV Size: 3L ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: France, Champagne The expressive nose offers hints of peach, hawthorn and brioche. Wine Enthusiast: The nonvintage Taittinger cuvée, with its lively mousse, is soft and creamily fruity. While the bottle tasted was young, it had enough ripe white fruits and lime-juice flavors to balance out the freshness. Typically for Taittinger, Chardonnay is an important element in the blend, giving the wine its final mineral tautness. Oak is used sparingly to impart flavors of brioche and grilled almonds, rather than to add any tannins or weight. The bottles are kept...

This is a light-bodied wine with a smooth, clean finish. Producer Information Beringer is California's longest continuously operating winery, located in the heart of Napa Valley. It has become one of the largest and most distributed American labels, and is known for its range of wines, from affordable table wines to fine single-vineyard cuvées and a private reserve label. Brothers Jacob and Frederick Beringer harvested their first vintage in 1876, in what has since become the St Helena AVA. In 1883, Frederick built the Rhine House as his home, a Victorian mansion, and it is now the main visitor site of the winery. Beringer's success was in part because of the federal license they obtained to make wine for religious purposes during Prohibition (1920-1933). The wine was sold to churches for sacramental purposes. After Prohibition was repealed, Beringer became the first winery to offer public tours – a significant contribution to the beginnings of modern Napa Valley tourism. Beringer was bought by the beverage manufacturer Nestlé in the early 1970s, and since then it has changed ownership numerous times. It is currently owned by Treasury Wine Estates, one of the largest North American wine suppliers, which also owns, among other labels, Penfolds, Wolf Blass and Stags' Leap. In 2015, Mark Beringer, the great-great-grandson of Jacob Beringer, became chief winemaker. As well was having wide distribution, Beringer is known for its range of quality wines. It owns land in Napa and Sonoma and all of the vineyards it owns or leases are third-party certified sustainable. It bottles numerous single-vineyard offerings, some of the most notable being Bancroft Ranch in Howell Mountain AVA, Chabot Vineyard and St. Helena Home Vineyard in St Helena AVA as well as Knights Valley Vineyard in Knights Valley AVA. Its portfolio is composed of the usual California offerings such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, with some Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Bordeaux-style blends as well. Beringer's most lauded range is the Private Reserve label, offering wines made from...

It makes wines throughout the Willamette Valley, with most vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA (in which the winery is located). The gravity-flow winery at the Winery Hills site was completed in 2001 and in 2015, owners Grace and Ken Evenstad also bought Château de la Crée, an estate in Burgundy. In 2021, Evenstad Estates (Domaine Serene's parent group established by the Evenstads) also acquired Vougeot-based operation Christian Confuron et Fils. The move added six hectares (15 acres) to the family's Burgundy holdings, predominantly in the more northern Cote de Nuits. Since its first commercial release in 1990, which received a 90-point score from critic Robert Parker, Domaine Serene has been a significant force in Oregon luxury wine. Producer: Cantine Riunite Vintage: NV Size: 1.5L Country/Region: Italy, Emilia-Romagna Bright light pink in color. Strong peach aromas, accompanied by hints of honey and sage. Clean, with strong, ripe peach flavors. Sweet with soft aromatics. Producer Information In 1950 a group of 9 wine producers from the Province of Reggio Emilia set up Cantine Cooperative Riunite. Eleven years later, 4 wineries from the Province of Modena followed their lead and founded Consorzio Interprovinciale Vini (CIV). The two organizations grew thanks to cooperation between their members. Come the 21st Century they realised that only by merging they would have been able to offer increasingly comprehensive and effective responses to the demands of the global market. Thus, in September 2008 Cantine Riunite & CIV was founded, becoming the hub of Lambrusco production and one of Italy’s leading wine companies. Another important chapter was written in 2002, when Cantine Riunite bought CANTINE MASCHIO, thus consolidating its position as leading sparkling wine company.

Producer: Gosset Ratings: WE 91 WS 93 Vintage: NV Size: 1.5L ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: France, Champagne The nose opens with the fresh ripeness of yellow apple and highlights of Granny Smith. It has beautifully subtle autolysis on the palate, deepening into notes of creamy apple crumble, Golden Delicious and Mirabelle plum, while remaining utterly strait-laced. Elegance, length and absolute freshness are inherent and quietly convincing. Reviews: Wine Enthusiast: Gosset’s nonvintage cuvée is a fine example of the richness of this producer’s Champagnes. It is full, laden with Pinot texture and a touch of toast from bottle aging. Wine Spectator: A spine of chiseled acidity structures this vivid, creamy Champagne, which has a minerally underpinning of smoke and brine and flavors of Asian pear, baked pineapple, lemon curd, toasted brioche and roasted almond. Producer Information Gosset is arguably the oldest house in Champagne. It was founded in 1584 in Aÿ, just outside of Reims, by Pierre Gosset who began making still red wines in bulk. In the mid-18th Century the Gosset family discovered bubbles in their wine as it began to ferment in bottle and, since then, Gosset Champagne has been almost continuously produced. The Gosset winery is still located in Aÿ, and all of the wines are produced there. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes are mostly purchased from grape growers who have vines located in grand and premier cru sites around the region. The varieties and plots are all vinified and kept separate until after fermentation, and then blended before bottling. The wines do not go through malolactic fermentation, giving them slightly higher levels of acidity (freshness) while they are bottled, aged and released. The range at Gosset includes a Grand Reserve NV Brut, Rosé, Blanc de Blancs and a vintage Millésime, which is only produced in the best years. The range of Celebris Champagnes are the prestige cuvée of the house, and the brut and rosé expressions are both made in an extra-brut style. Recent additions to the portfolio include the Extra Brut in 2018; the 100 percent Pinot Meunier Grand Blanc de Meunier...

Producer: Arido Wines Vintage: NV Size: 750ml Varietal: Muscat Country/Region: Argentina, Mendoza A beguiling yellow-green hue in the glass, followed by a crisp, sweet entry, this Moscato has perfect acidity and fruit balance. A lively experience with a refreshing finish. Producer Information Arido means dry in Finnish. The name of the wine does not lie, it perfectly describes the growing conditions in Barrancas, located in the Mendoza Valley, about 30 kilometers from the city of Mendoza itself. Arido vines grow at a height of about a kilometer in the middle of a mountainous desert. Nutrient-poor soil consists largely of sand. In the area, it rains less during an entire calendar year than in sunny Helsinki during the summer months. Fortunately, the melting waters of the Andes provide relief for the vines. The high location of Arido's nurseries means significant temperature variations between day and night. The sun shining during the day ensures even ripening of the grapes, the coldness of the night ensures the preservation of acids. The end result is admirably balanced new world wines that are able to surprise even the most hardened Europhile with their freshness. The preservation of natural freshness is supported by the fact that all Arido wines are aged in steel tanks. Behind Arido is a man named Carlos Pulenta. Carlos is considered to be an innovator who, with his activity, has significantly succeeded in promoting Argentina's rise as one of the significant countries in the world of wine. We also have him to thank for the Vistalba and Tomero wines in our selections!

Crisp acidity is balanced nicely with a hint of toasty oak. Producer Information Chateau Ste. Michelle is the oldest, and one of the most prestigious, wineries in Washington. The company produces a wide range of wines from grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay, but it is best known for its high-quality wines made from Riesling. It was founded as the American Wine Growers in 1954 by the merger of two companies that were set up following the repeal of Prohibition in the 1930s: the National Wine Company and the Pomerelle Wine Company. Before the merger, the National Wine Company had planted Vitis vinifera grapes in the Columbia Valley. However it was legendary winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, as a consultant, who introduced higher quality vinifera wines in 1967. These were produced under the name Ste. Michelle Vintners and the first wines released were Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Semillon and Grenache. In 1974, two years before the Judgment of Paris, a blind tasting set up by the Los Angeles Times awarded first place to a Ste. Michelle Vintners Riesling, over wines from Germany and California. This brought national attention to the producer, and cemented Riesling's success in the region. In 1976, the name was changed to Chateau Ste. Michelle. The winery has since achieved international acclaim. Chateau Ste. Michelle has three estate vineyards all in the Columbia Valley AVA – Cold Creek, Horse Heaven and Canoe Ridge. Both the Horse Heaven and Canoe Ridge vineyards are in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, while Cold Creek is just north of the Yakima Valley. A total of 3,500 acres (1416 hectares) are shielded from ample rainfall by the Cascade Mountains allowing estate viticulturists to control grapevine vigor and yield through irrigation. The Single Vineyard collection showcases the unique characteristics and terroir of each of the estate vineyards. However, it is the Impetus that is the flagship of the Ste. Michelle wine portfolio. It is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with Malbec and Syrah that is barrel-aged for 24 months in 100-percent new French oak. It is released...
