Producer: Molo 8 Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 8.5% Varietal: Lambrusco Country/Region: Italy, Lombardy Intense ruby red. The bouquet is persistent and fragrant with hints of black cherries and wild berries. On the palate the wine is aromatic, fruity and pleasantly sweet. Ideal for cheese, ham, salami, pork or cold cuts and most dishes. Producer Information The story of Molo 8 began in 1921 with Quitico Decordi Sr. Quitico and his family made their living in a small, family-run eatery that was known for serving the favorite local dishes. In addition to his fabulous food, Quitico began producing his own wine to be served in his restaurant. The local acclaim for the wines was so great that the family began focusing their efforts on producing wine, moving from simple house wine to crafting artisanal wines produced from local grapes. The Decordi’s reputation for producing great wine grew and with it so did demand. In 1950, the family built a new winery. Not content to rely solely on their reputation, the Decordi family has a history of innvovation in the cellar. In 1964, the winery installed some of the industry’s first automated bottling systems and in 2007 a thermo-regulated warehouse was built. Today the winery continues to innovate and received the prestigious UNI EN ISO 14001 environmental certification. This international certification is designed to recognize organizations that work to minimize how their operations affect the environment and take steps to continually innovate to prevent adverse changes to the air, water and land.

Producer: Chiarli Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 8% Varietal: Lambrusco Country/Region: Italy, Emilia-Romagna Here's a charming sparkling red dessert wine offering intense violet, fruitcake and blackberry jam aromas. With its fresh acidity, it's sweet but not cloying, doling out cherry tart and baked plum flavors. Producer Information The story of Lambrusco is closely intertwined with the Chiarli family of Modena, arguably the most important producers of red sparkling wine in the world. The tale begins with Cleto Chiarli, the proprietor of the Modena restaurant Osteria dell’Artigliere in the mid-1800s. As was common for restaurateurs and innkeepers in those days, Chiarli made his own wine to sell at the osteria. Naturally, the wine was made from Lambrusco, the area’s primary grape variety, and it was well received by customers—so much so that in 1860 Chiarli was emboldened to found Emilia Romagna’s first wine-producing company, the Cantina Cleto Chiarli. The company thrived, and eventually, under the Chiarli 1860 name, it became the largest privately-owned producer of Lambrusco. The Chiarli family was also instrumental in taking Lambrusco from being just one among innumerable Italian local wines to its status as a popular international phenomenon and one of the country’s primary exports. A century after the winery’s founding, the Chiarli family pioneered the use of the Charmat or tank method of sparkling wine production for Lambrusco. Whereas the customary “ancestral” method always resulted in dry, fizzy, cloudy wines because it continued to ferment inside the bottle after it was sealed, Charmat-method Lambrusco introduced several advantages. It allowed filtration to make the wine clear, offered the opportunity to increase the bottle pressure to the fully sparkling level, and made it possible to bottle a wine that would retain residual sugar. The new Lambrusco—sweet, red, clear, and effervescent—became a sensation, and for a couple of decades, it was the most-imported wine category in the United States. Although other, larger wine companies supplied the majority of Lambrusco exports, Chiarli 1860 held its own among the top Emilia Romagna wineries. By the turn of the 21st century, the business was in the hands of Cleto Chiarli’s...

Fruity aromas of red berries intermingle with spicy notes. On the palate, pleasantly semi-sweet fruit flavors come through. It is nicely balanced by light tannins. Producer Information Based in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, Donelli has been producing wines of mass appeal since 1915 when Adolfo Donelli transitioned from bottling wine in his home cellar to launching a full-scale winery. From the start, Donelli has dedicated itself to the production of Lambrusco, a sparkling red that is as unique as the region where it was born. The Giacobazzi family took control of the winery in the mid-90s and is proud to carry on the respected traditions of Donelli. Antonio Giacobazzi, president of Donelli, is joined in the business by three of his children: Alberto, Giovanni, and Angela. Spanning over 110 hectares, Donelli’s estate-owned vineyards are planted to various strains of the native Lambrusco varietal, as well as other indigenous grapes. All fruit is hand-harvested after careful vineyard selection. The grapes undergo multiple fermentations in refrigerated stainless steel tanks, helping to create the subtle effervescence and freshness showcased in each wine, via the Charmat method. Modern technology is combined with tradition, producing wines that have garnered acclaim throughout the world and made Donelli an internationally recognized brand. With deep roots in the region, Donelli is actively involved in the culture of Emilia-Romagna, embracing all things local. The Scaglietti line of wines pays tribute to Ferrari. In 2002, they began building a new facility to produce a higher-end line of Lambrusco wines using carefully selected, estate-grown grapes and state-of-the-art equipment. The new company was named Cleto Chiarli after the founder. The new winery was built at an estate in the heart of the Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC in Modena province. Here, the family had long owned vineyards and a manor house where Gen. Enrico Cialdini, a hero of the Italian reunification, was born in 1811. Slowly and carefully, the Cialdini house was converted into a modern winemaking facility. Surrounding it are more than 100 acres of Lambrusco Grasparossa vineyards, as well as 17 acres of Grechetto Gentile vines. Good body, balanced and pleasantly round. Producer Information The activity commences in 1922 when Adelmo Lombardini produces the first engine and, in 1933, together with his brothers Alberto and Raniero, decides to start his own business activity through “Lombardini Fabrica Motori” (Lombardini Engine Factory) constituted as a joint-stock company, taking over the already existing implants of a mechanical factory with attached foundry, situated in the immediate suburbs of Reggio Emilia. After the great difficulties of the Second World War, the post military reconstruction finds the company ready with its range of diesel and combustion engines, marine engines and the production of generating sets, motor-pumps, motor-compressors and motor-welders. The fifties conclude with the reaching of two fundamental stages of the company life’s history: in 1957 production of the LA engine series takes-off; in 1959 the range of products diversifies with the manufacturing of the first caterpillar agricultural tractor – Castoro. The results obtained are such that cause the premises of Via Galliano, where the company originated, to become inadequate. In 1963, the construction of new premises, the current premises of Pieve (Reggio Emilia), is decided. During the same period, the company’s first real international achievement takes place with the creation of its first overseas branches.

Producer Information Cantina di Soliera is a cooperative winery composed of over 400 of the best growers in Emilia-Romagna. Their production of indigenous Lambrusco grapes stretches over the sunny vineyards between the Panaro and Secchia rivers, north of the capital city of Modena. This large and interprovincial group of growers forms one of the oldest co-ops in the region, who in 1982, established this collective in order to bottle their own prized grapes. With over a century of combined experience, Cantina di Soliera has established itself as one of the top producers of Lambrusco di Sorbara, Salamino di Santa Croce, and Grasparossa di Castelvetro, from which they produce traditional, ancestral and tank-method sparkling wines. Cantina di Soliera producers are stretched over vineyards between the Panaro and Secchia rivers, both tributaries of the river Po. The vineyards lie on sandy and clay soils, ideal for the cultivation of indigenous Lambrusco di Sorbara, the authentic grape of Emilia-Romagna. The sunny microclimate and sandy-clay soils are key to producing elegant Lambrusco, with fine, structural qualities, with the clay providing structure and the sandy soil is crucial for imparting elegant notes. Among the many noble cru sites from which Cantina di Soliera selects their grapes, lies a single-vineyard plot of some 4 hectares of ungrafted Sorbara grapes, from 50-year-old vines. From here, grapes are sourced for the Cantina’s most authentic, dry Sorbara Lambrusco.

Producer: Chiarli Vintage: 2021 Size: 750ml Varietal: Lambrusco Country/Region: Italy, Emilia-Romagna Bright cherry pink. Smells of fresh raspberries on the nose, plus lots of citrus, then red currants again. Balanced on the palate, with well-integrated perlage, plus some fruity sweetness, overall consistent, correct from start to finish. Producer Information The story of Lambrusco is closely intertwined with the Chiarli family of Modena, arguably the most important producer of red sparkling wine in the world. The tale begins with Cleto Chiarli, the proprietor of the Modena restaurant Osteria dell’Artigliere in the mid-1800s. As was common for restaurateurs and innkeepers in those days, Chiarli made his own wine to sell at the osteria. Naturally, the wine was made from Lambrusco, the area’s primary grape variety, and it was well-received by customers—so much so that in 1860 Chiarli was emboldened to found Emilia Romagna’s first wine-producing company, the Cantina Cleto Chiarli. By the turn of the 21st century, the business was in the hands of Cleto Chiarli's great-grandsons Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli, and they decided to move to a new production center that would focus on more or an artisanal, quality-driven style. The Cleto Chiarli estate also includes vineyards in Sozzigalli, planted to Lambrusco di Sorbara. This is for the production of Vecchia Modena Premium, the first ever Lambrusco to receive the Tre Bicchieri from the Gambero Rosso. Also their bottle fermented Lambrusco, Fondatore. All of the vineyards are certified...

Producer: Tenuta Pederzana Vintage: 2019 Size: 750ml ABV: 12% Varietal: Lambrusco Country/Region: Italy, Emilia Romagna There's a vein of sourness, astringency and thinness in the mouth followed by bright berry fruit and plump cherry. This is a light and straightforward bubbly Lambrusco that offers a good introductory view of this traditional Italian bubbly red wine. Producer Information Following WWII, Franco Simonini and his wife Margherita collaborated closely with the University of Bologna in a bid to identify the best clones of the noble variety prevalent in the area, Grasparossa di Castelvetro. After much experimentation, he succeeded in isolating a clone of Grasparossa which, years later, his nephew Francesco Gibellini – who now runs the company with his uncle Massimo – discovered to be unique among the range of clones registered with the Experimental Institute for Viticulture. Growing from an estate of only 2.5 acres, to the 35 acre estate that it is today, Pederzana remains focused on preserving its ancient strain of Grasparossa grafted onto Golia rootstock in Guyot-trained vineyards. The vineyards have the ideal conditions for cultivating Grasparossa with rich aromas and excellent polyphenol levels. The terroir and microclimate of Pederzana are singular. Sunlight bathes the estate in the valley of Solignano Vecchio from the early morning onwards and it benefits from very cool air currents that create the ideal temperature fluctuation between day and night for the successful ripening of Grasparossa’s aromas and polyphenols. The clayey soil allows the vines to cope well even for quite long periods without any rain, and the constant ventilation means that the vegetation always remains dry. The vineyards are divided into two main zones: One just below the winery with south-easterly exposure and the other facing due east. This results in different ripening times and the development of varied characteristics within the Grasparossa that, ultimately, result in a richer blend for the final wines. Harvesting at Pederzana takes place entirely by hand in order to carefully select the ripest and healthiest parcels of grapes.

In the background, spreadable cheese and wet earth. On the palate, medium body, rough acidity and a decidedly taut finish. Producer Information The year is 1890, on the Via Emilia, the most important commercial road of the town. Remigio Medici owned three successful taverns and decided to find a winery with the aim of making the most of the family vineyards, located between the Via Emilia and the foothills of the Enza valley. Remigio’s son Ermete expanded the business and consolidated the company’s reputation, before handing over the reins to his sons Valter and Giorgio, who began to export, further expanding the brand. The long history of Medici Ermete had officially begun. In the 70s, the United States witnessed the “Lambrusco boom”, and it is important to underline how, together with Chianti, it was among the first Italian wines to be exported. In 1988, the fourth generation of the Medici family, Alberto and Pierluigi Medici, joined the company. A little later Alessandra too came along, now managing the company hospitality. These were fundamental years for the history of Medici Ermete: the family decided to revolutionize the production method of Lambrusco! The vineyards were replanted and the yields were lowered by 35% compared to the regulations (through a pruning system called cordon spur). From this pioneering philosophy, in 1993 our “Concerto”, a CRU of Lambrusco Salamino, was born. Today the company owns about 80 hectares of vineyards (grown entirely organically), distributed among the areas with the highest wine-making vocation in the Emilia-Romagna region, and exports to over 70 countries in the world. Now in their fifth generation, represented by Alessandro, the Medici family can boast solid experience in the vineyard as well as the cellar. They won their wager: the maximum enhancement of their wines. The winning idea was to create a close link between the territory and the wines produced, the rigorous selection of grapes, at the cost of a yield per hectare even 30-40% lower than the DOC regulations, but guaranteeing wines of...

Alberto Medici is responsible for revolutionizing the production of Lambrusco wines by lowering yields and developing a unique fermentation process to elevate the quality of the wines. In the mouth full-bodied, fleshy, fine carbonic acid, just a hint of sweetness underlining the fruit, lots of freshness and aroma in the long finish. Producer Information Cantine Ceci, founded by Otello, host of the Parma lowlands, and combined the history of wine with its future. It all started in 1938 in his restaurant, where the best tripe in the province was eaten and where Otello mixed the Lambrusco that he produced by buying grapes from the local farmers. His sons Giovanni and Bruno were still children, but they had already understood what charm the pressing of the grapes aroused in the season of the enthralling harvest. The restaurant was thus abandoned to kick off the adventure of the Cantine Ceci. It is a tradition that transforms and evolves in its continuity, and that has made the Ceci brothers discover the love for grapes, for wine, and for those poetic and boiling vats, inspiring their work and suggesting them the objectives to be pursued. To continue this journey are Otello’s grandchildren: Alessandro, Maria Teresa, Maria Paola, Elisa and Chiara; they are the ones who represent the new soul of the company and help provide a new impetus to what has been done previously, to build even more solid foundations for those who will come after them; to speak through the territory and express what this land is able to give, without mystification, focusing on the great quality of what they offer on the wine market, without neglecting the innovation of the products, both from an organoleptic and aesthetic point of view, arriving to distribute sparkling wines and Otello Nerodilambrusco in a unique square bottle in the world. The rapid expansion began in the 90s, with the birth of Lambrusco Terre Verdiane, with which this grape experienced a new youth and unexpected prestige.

Eleven years later, 4 wineries from the Province of Modena followed their lead and founded Consorzio Interprovinciale Vini (CIV). Come the 21st Century they realised that only by merging they would have been able to offer increasingly comprehensive and effective responses to the demands of the global market. Thus, in September 2008 Cantine Riunite & CIV was founded, becoming the hub of Lambrusco production and one of Italy’s leading wine companies. Another important chapter was written in 2002, when Cantine Riunite bought CANTINE MASCHIO, thus consolidating its position as leading sparkling wine company.

Producer Information As the founder of The Riddler, the all-women-funded Champagne bars in San Francisco and New York, I served tens of thousands of bottles of Champagne to the most stylish women on both coasts. While there, I realized that every time we put a woman-made wine on the list, it would outsell all others. I wondered why there wasn’t a modern sparkling wine brand for "women like us": made by women winemakers, giving back to women-centered charities, digitally native, contemporary in style, and available everywhere we ate, drank, shopped, and traveled. At Une Femme, we are building that brand. So, whether we’re toasting to a dream job, a first home, or progress towards a better world, Une Femme is raising a glass to women raising the bar.

Off-dry in style, it has rich, over-ripe aromas accented by subtle floral and citrus notes and pleasant nutty nuances. Producer Information With roots in the wine business dating back to 1913, Opici Family Distributing is a fourth-generation, family-owned wine and spirits wholesaler operating in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Florida, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. In 1913, Joseph and Esther Opici–both Italian immigrants–began importing wines from Italy and distributing them within New Jersey. Despite falling on hard times during the Depression and Prohibition, the Opicis remained focused on their passion for the wine industry. Once Prohibition was repealed in 1933, the Opicis persuaded a colleague from California to ship them one railroad car full of wine for $1500, and they were back in business! In 1934, Joseph and Esther established the American Beverage Distribution Company of New Jersey. Later that year, the couple’s son Hubert graduated from high school and joined the business. As with many small family businesses, every family member had a job – Hubert was the delivery boy, Joseph was the salesman, and Esther ran the office. Several years later, the family recognized opportunities waiting on the West Coast, and Joseph moved to California to establish the family’s first winery in Cucamonga in 1939, leaving Esther and Hubert to run the East Coast operations. Hubert put his wine career on hold in 1942 when he volunteered for the Armed Forces. But he eagerly rejoined the business a few years later, taking the reins of the New Jersey operations as his mother and sister, Mary, moved to California to assist his father. In 1944, Hubert married Rose Marie Deregibus, who became his partner in life and in business. Together, the husband-wife team expanded into new markets – they purchased the Cazanove Wine Company of New York in 1946. The Opicis also moved their West Coast winery to a larger facility in Altaloma, California in 1948. During the 1990s, the Opici family expanded their...

Producer: Veuve Clicquot Ratings: D 91 WS 90 Vintage: NV Size: (12)*750ML ABV: 12% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: France, Champagne This has aromas of grapefruit, citrus peel, quince, toast and almonds. It’s medium-bodied with creamy, fine tannins. Silky texture. Nutty complexity at the end. Reviews: Decanter: Noticeable fruit intensity and fresh notes of red fruits, fresh blueberries and a small amount of quince. Interesting and quite demanding. Wine Spectator: A crisp and lacy Champagne, with a hint of smoke underscoring flavors of poached apricot, pastry cream and pickled ginger. An overtone of Mandarin orange peel ties it all together. Producer Information Veuve Clicquot is one of Champagne's best known producers, and has been a consistent seller since it was founded in 1772. Pinot Noir has dominated over Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier in this blend from its inception. The house famously invented the process of riddling, which removed the dead yeast cells and gave the finished wines a clear appearance. The house was founded by Philippe Clicquot in 1772 as a sideline to his successful textile business, but became the second largest producer of Champagne in the region under his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin. In 1798 Philippe Clicquot married his only son, Francois, to the daughter of a prominent local business man named Ponsardin as a way to consolidate the power of both his and Ponsardin's successful businesses. Francois and his wife, Barbe-Nicole, saw an opportunity to take over the wine business and hopefully foster its growth. The attempt failed miserably due to the outbreak of the Napoleonic Wars, and Francois Clicquot died in 1805. Barbe-Nicole continued on her own and, with the help of investments from her father-in-law and some deft smuggling of wines to Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Veuve Clicquot exploded onto the market. The development of the riddling process meant production increased significantly, which was able to satiate demand. Today, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is owned by luxury giant Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy (LVMH). The portfolio of Veuve Clicquot includes non-vintage and vintage wines in Brut, Rosé and Demi-Sec variants. The top wine is La Grande Dame, a vintage champagne first created in 1972 in honor of Barbe-Nicole, produced from a blend of eight grand cru...

Producer Information In the 1990's, a group of friends with a passion for good wine and fun times together crushed a few tons of grapes in the Napa Valley for their personal cellars. The resulting wine was so well-received that they started producing wine the very next year to share with the public. They chose to name the wine, appropriately, Amici ("friends" in Italian). Amici's owners — John Harris, Bob and Celia Shepard, and Bart Woytowicz—are all great friends with a passion for making and enjoying great wine. At Amici the focus is on quality, not quantity. Because they insist on keeping the production small, they can carefully control the process of creating each wine, crafting what they like to consider a small work of art in each bottle. What started as a few friends crushing some grapes for fun is now an award-winning premium wine known around the country, but one thing will never change: Amici is a wine created by friends, for friends.

The nose is vibrant and intense with green apple, citrus fruit, minerality and brioche. The palate is generous and sumptuous with fleshy peach and apple. Producer Information Moet & Chandon based in the so-called "Champagne capital" of Épernay, is easily the most famous house in the Champagne region. It is one of the largest too, comprising 1150 hectares (2850 acres) of estate vineyards plus more from growers, 28km (17 miles) of cellars and a production capacity of 60 million bottles a year. The house was founded by Claude Moët in 1743. However, his grandson, Jean-Remy Moët, is credited with having brought Champagne to a wider audience and, by the 19th Century, the house was recognized both domestically and internationally. In the 1970s and '80s, Moët & Chandon expanded its empire beyond Champagne, partnering first with Cognac house Hennessy and then with fashion giant Louis Vuitton, forming the well-known luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy –often referred to simply as LVMH.
