Sourcing fruit from several AVA’s within Napa, Chandon focuses on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, made in both still and sparkling styles. It was the first time that a sparkling wine house in Napa Valley was owned by the French. The sparkling wines are made with the traditional Champagne method. Grapes are sourced from Napa’s cooler regions including Los Carneros, Mount Veeder, as well as the estate vineyard in Yountville. While sparkling wines are the focus at Domaine Chandon, still wines of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are also produced. Production is relatively large, and the wines can be found in numerous merchants around the United States and internationally. Domaine Chandon have expanded internationally with wineries located in Argentina, Brazil, China and India with Chandon Australia the most prolific. Domaine Chandon was famous for its Michelin-starred restaurant Étoile, the only fine dining restaurant located within a winery in Napa Valley. The palate is bursting with red fruit and citrus, with a zippy acidity and a long finish. Producer Information Piper Sonoma was founded in 1980 by the Marquis d’Aulan family, direct descendants of the Piper family. Recognizing Sonoma as a great growing region for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and believing in its terroir, the family's vision was to produce world-class sparkling wines in the New World, using old-world winemaking techniques. Nearly forty years later, the Piper Sonoma winemaking team continues to realize that vision and hand crafts premium sparkling wines under the guidance of long-time sparkling winemaker Keith Hock. With nearly forty years of experience in Sonoma County, the winemaking team source from more than 20 growers, some of whom, like the Green, Young and Ledbetter families, have been supplying grapes for more than three decades. Many growers have adopted voluntary no-till farming practices, with a strict adherence to hillside ordinances. Sustainable agriculture and integrated pest management techniques have been integrated and organic or naturally derived fertilizers are utilized, while composted grape material is used as fertilizer to increase water efficiency and help build soil structure. Piper Sonoma handcrafts their sparkling wines from the classic varietals Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc, by Méthode Traditionnelle, the same technique used to craft the best Champagnes. Each parcel is pressed and fermented separately, creating an extensive selection of base wines to choose from. Winemaker Keith Hock then tastes each component and selects those base wines that show potential to produce exceptional wine. The cuvée is placed en tirage for secondary fermentation in the bottle prior to disgorgement. Finally, a small percentage of older reserve wine is included in the liqueur d'expedition adding further complexity and texture. The Piper Sonoma house style is focused on precision and attention to detail. Each wine displays a balance between fruit expression, complexity and texture, to create wines that are...

Based in the city of Reims, Taittinger is known for its Chardonnay-dominant cuvées, the pinnacle of which is the blanc de blancs prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne. The family-owned estate has approximately 290 hectares (710 acres) of vines, around half of which is planted to Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Meunier making up the rest. These vineyards contribute 50 percent of Taittinger's output, with the rest coming from growers who have historical relationships with the house. Taittinger's Brut Reserve NV is composed of 40 percent Chardonnay, with the two Pinots making up the remainder. This makes for a fresh and reasonably delicate house style. In addition to this, Taittinger makes a range of Champagne styles, including a demi-sec, several rosés and an array of single-vineyard, vintage and otherwise limited-edition wines. The Comtes de Champagne is Taittinger's top wine, and was first made in the 1952 vintage. The grapes are mostly sourced from grand cru vineyards across Avizé, Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Oak is used sparingly to impart flavors of brioche and grilled almonds, rather than to add any tannins or weight. The bottles are kept for at least 10 years in the underground chalk galleries beneath the former Saint-Nicaise Abbey in Reims (now the Taittinger headquarters). Taittinger's flagship is considered one of the most consistent blanc...

A bold and expressive take on the rosé genre, this delivers an instantly appealing, drink now style. Good acid balance. Producer Information Champagne Drappier is a Champagne house located in the commune of Urville in the Aube, the southernmost subregion of Champagne. The house, founded in 1808, is known for its Pinot Noir-dominant wines, and its minimal use of sulfur and dosage. Drappier's top wine is the prestige tête de cuvée, Grande Sendrée, and it produces a range of non-vintage and vintage Champagnes. The estate owns 62 hectares (153 acres) of vineyard land mainly around Urville and the wider Aude region. The company also sources fruit through contractual arrangements with local growers. Pinot Noir thrives in the Aube and makes up the bulk of Drappier's plantings, although Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and small amounts of Petit Meslier, Blanc Vrai, and Arbane are also seen. In the winery, base wines are blended, bottled, and then aged on their lees in Drappier's underground cellars. After remuage (riddling) and disgorgement, Drappier's Champagnes are lightly dosed with liqueur d'expedition – a wine that has been aged in oak casks, then in demijohns, for more than 10 years. This addition allows for a more complex, longer finish. Drappier's Urville-based cellars were constructed by Cistercian monks from Clairvaux Abbey and are among the oldest in Champagne, dating back to 1152.

Producer: Champagne Rene Geoffroy Vintage: NV Size: 1.5L ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Pinot Noir Country/Region: France, Champagne As a preamble the ruby red hue of this Rosé de Saignée is a pleasure for the eyes. The nose of this Champagne is a spring bouquet: rose, wild strawberry, raspberry and later blackberry combine perfectly to offer aromas, which would not be expected in a conventional rosé Champagne. The mouth follows on from the nose, and, thanks to the structure of the Pinot Noir, the vinosity of the finish is compellin. Because of this freshness, this Rosé de Saignée Champagne is best enjoyed young to take full advantage of aromas of small, fresh and crisp red berries. Producer Information The Geoffroy House has its origins dating back to the early 17th century on the lands of the commune of Cumières, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Since then, the winegrowing know-how has been passed on from generation to generation and today, Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy and his wife Karine, accompanied by their daughters, watch over their 14 hectares vineyard with passion. They produce Champagnes "of winemaker" as we like to say, that is to say authentic and bearers of a history that is found even in their taste of terroir. The Village of Cumières is the anchor of the Geoffroy family in the 17th century. Generations follow one another but it is really only in the early 1950s that René Geoffroy and his wife Julienne decide to elaborate their own Champagne, thus the Geoffroy brand is born. Their son René succeeded his parents at the head of the company and acquired new parcels of vines in order to develop his business properly. His son Jean-Baptiste took over at the end of the 1980s, having graduated in viticulture and oenology. With his wife Karine, he decided to transfer the activity of Maison Geoffroy to Aÿ in 2008. Today, they gradually transmit their passion and know-how to their 5 daughters who will embody a fifth generation of winemakers.

Producer: Champagne Chateau de Bligny Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 12% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: France, Champagne Orangey pink robe. All the quality of the Pinots, lovely fresh raspberries, cherry stones, note of red fruit. Cherry flesh, redcurrant, grenadine, budding flowers (rose), red fruit pulp. Producer Information This magnificent property overlooks the village and was built on the foundations of the feudal castle by the Marquis de Dampierre, a French peer who had bought the estate in 1773 in order to hunt wolves. The tower and wing were added in the 19th Century. Solidly built of dressed stone and firmly sited at the base of a mound, the Chateau overlooks the village and the valley of the Landion, the source of which is situated under the Chateau cellars and still supplies it with water today. The main door of the Chateau comes from the former feudal castle demolished in 1770 and is in the Louis XIII style with its fine sculptural decorations of grapes and vine branches. Vines have been grown on the slopes of Bligny for many centuries. The Marquis de Dampierre, who owned the Bligny glassworks, lived in the chateau in the heart of the village. He also owned the surrounding hillsides. The vineyards provided for his personal wine consumption, and the wine was mostly still. In 1871, the Marquis de Dampierre lost his son, killed at the front. Contrary to certain draft schemes, the railway did not come through Bligny: it was routed instead through Bar-sur-Aube. The glassworks was therefore moved to Bar. Phylloxera sounded the death knell of the Bligny vineyards. Its reconstruction began in the early 19th Century when the chateau was passed on to Baron de Cachard. Louis XVIII had made him a noble and given him the title of Baron. Baron de Cachard gave the estate a new lease of life as a wine-producing establishment: he decided to plant a large vineyard, which earned him the nickname of “Gentleman Wine-maker”. Baron de Cachard had been aware of the former excellent reputation of the wines in the region. He had also bought the vineyards of the former Sainte Eulalie Priory, founded in the village in around 1000. The vineyards that he planted and bought now form the Chateau de Bligny estate. In 1930 the vineyards covered forty-four hectares. After the war, the...

This has a wealth of fresh yeasty characters, fresh pastry and bread dough, plus red fruits, pink grapefruit, and some floral notes too. Producer Information Champagne Ruinart was one of the first Champagne houses, established in 1729. It takes its name from the Benedictine monk Dom Ruinart, whose writings on Champagne were passed down through his family and resulted in the Maison Ruinart we know today. Dom Ruinart was born in Champagne in 1657, and died in 1709. He moved from his home to an abbey just outside of Paris, where he began to learn about the "wine with bubbles", which was very popular among the young aristocrats of the time. He believed it could be made best on the soils of his hometown. Upon his death in 1709, he left many books containing his writings on this to his nephew Nicolas Ruinart and, 20 years later, Maison Ruinart was founded. The Ruinart house was passed through the family for the next two centuries, during which time they were the first to ship rosé Champagne, as well as being the first to ship their bottles in wooden cases. From humble beginnings, the house now produces almost 2 million bottles a year and is currently owned by luxury brand superpower LVMH. Ruinart owns...

Producer: Champagne Voirin Jumel Vintage: NV Size: 1.5L ABV: 12% Varietal: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Country/Region: France, Champagne Red berry, pink grapefruit, with hint of light spices give great flavors in your nose. In mouth, an incredible freshness with creamy notes of crunchy red berry. This juicy wine, salivating, long and intense will marry perfectly with Asian food or with strawberry pie with dark chocolate. Producer Information Jean Voirin, who owned some vines and sold all his grapes in bulk, decided to begin bottling his own champagne at the end of World War II. The Jumel family started producing champagne around the same time—René Jumel had a transport business and his wife's family had some vines that they cultivated. As the champagne market grew, René began selling some of his trucks and buying vineyards around the Côte des Blancs, which his wife, Paulette Richomme, worked and oversaw. Between 1950 and 1970, all the grapes were sold in bulk. In the early 1970’s, Francoise Jumel (daughter of Paulette and René) began bottling champagne with her husband Gilles Voirin under the name Voirin-Jumel. That year they sold nearly 10,000 bottles. In the 1990s, Francoise's children, Patrick and Alice, along with Patrick's wife Valerie, began running the domaine. Today it is a true family affair, and they own 11 hectares of vines in 11 different villages (broken down to approximately 10% Cramant, 20% Chouilly, 10% Avize, 5% Oiry, 10% Oger, 10% Mareuil-sur-Ay, 10% Vertus, 15% Verneuil and the remaining 10% in 3 other villages). Each lot of grapes is vinified separately and each tank goes through malolactic fermentation. In January, the wines are stabilized. Shortly thereafter, the vins clairs (still wines) are tasted and it is determined which lots will be used for each specific release. All the champagnes are given very low dosages, and are aged for 3-4 years minimum, thus ensuring fresh, lower-acidity champagnes that really highlight their varied terroirs. All their production is bottled and sold at the domaine.

Mumm Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 12.1% Varietal: Champagne Blend Country/Region: France, Champagne Fairly deep orangy pink. Clean fruity nose recalling strawberry and fresh raspberry. Fleshy, fresh, indulgent palate where the fruit aromas show lovely focused expression. Producer Information Champagne G. H. Mumm, based in Reims, is one of the largest producers in Champagne. The portfolio is centered around the zesty, refreshing Cordon Rouge Brut, which is based on the classic Champagne blend, along with a range of other styles including brut rosé, demi-sec, vintage and blanc de blancs. The top wine is the Cuvée R. Lalou, a limited release vintage Champagne made from selected grand cru parcels and named after René Lalou, a former head of the company. Champagne Mumm owns around 220 hectares (540 acres) of vines, with many in some of the top grand cru vineyards in Champagne. These holdings make up approximately 25 percent of Mumm's production, with the remaining grapes coming from independent growers, with whom Mumm has long-standing relationships in order to help maintain a consistent style in the finished product. The Cordon Rouge is aged for two and a half years, with vintage wines spending nearly five years in bottle. These are aged in Mumm's 25km (15 miles) of cellars, which are home to almost 25 million bottles of wine. P.A. Mumm Giesler was founded in Reims in 1827 by three winemaking Mumm brothers, along with two other investors, all from the Rhine Valley in Germany. The company was later renamed as G. H. Mumm et Cie, and released the first Cordon Rouge, with its iconic red sash, in 1876. Mumm has expanded beyond Champagne, opening Mumm Napa in the Napa Valley in 1983. For decades, principally in the latter half of the 20th Century, Mumm – and its cordon rouge label – had become associated with sporting feats. Before the era of sponsorship deals, a Mumm representative would be on hand with a bottle or more to hand to the winner of the likes of a yachting, cycling or motorcar race. In an oft-repeated public relations coup, the victor or victors would be snapped with bottles of Mumm in hand. In more recent years, the celebrations have become considerably more formalised although Mumm can sometimes still be seen on the podium.

The nose is strong with an elegant blend of flowers and fruit. Dominated by white fruit, small tangy fruits can also be distinguished. The mouth is direct and well balanced a mix of hazelnuts and honey. Producer Information The vineyards of Le Mesnil sur Oger have a truly excellent terroir - 100% of its vineyards are ranked as "Grand Cru". The vineyards are situated at the heart of the prestigious "Côte des Blancs", so called because of the omnipresence of the superb Chardonnay. The white wine made from this grape, with its white skin and flesh is the reason why the appellation is known as the "Blanc de Blancs". The quality of its vineyards comes from the fact that they are east-facing. With vineyard topsoil over a base layer of chalk the vineyards have excellent hydric qualities thus allowing the chardonnay grape to reach their full potential.

Fine, red-fruity nose reminiscent of currants, red cherries, pomegranate, raspberries and dried herbs. Very direct and firm at the start, extremely compact, powerful, wiry and with a defined body, well structured, with perceptible tannins and a steely acidity that keeps the ripe, precise fruit in check. In the finish, this wine ends with raspberries that marry smoky and stony notes. Reviews: Wine Enthusiast: The wine has a lively mousse along with crisp acidity. Unusually for a rosé, the blend is 90% Chardonnay, the color coming from the addition of red wine (normal in Champagne). It shows some maturity with a hint of toastiness as well as a soft aftertaste on the sweet side of Brut. Producer Information Domaine Petit & Bajan crafts “grower” Champagne, a récoltant-manipulant house that grows its own grapes and makes its own wine all on site. This qualitative difference is crucial for those seeking the ultimate in Champagne flavor and character. The estate’s vineyards are split between the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, with just over two acres of Chardonnay vines in Avize, Cramant and Oger, and five acres of Pinot Noir in Verzenay. All vineyards are rated grand cru and are cared for sustainably. Crucially, the estate aims to harvest only perfectly ripe fruit, resulting in many local growers finishing the harvest before they even start. (A telling anecdote from the couple: most years, the very last two winemakers to finish the harvest in Avize are Richard Petit and Anselme Selosse.) Grapes are harvested by hand, and sorted in the fields and cellar. Grapes are pressed in a traditional, upright wooden press in small batches, immediately after harvesting. Juice is settled naturally, and fermented on selected yeasts. Malolactic conversion is allowed. Wines are aged in bottle for a minimum of three years. Dosage as a rule is low, no more than 3 grams/L for all Champagnes.

For us, this gives us the ability to control the entire production from A to Z. from the vineyard to the vinification to the cellar” This corner of Champagne where the winery is located is called the Côte sud d’Epernay and encircles Epernay. Here, all three major grape varieties thrive on different soils. The subsoil is chalk, with various depths of clay, marl, and silex. The vineyards in each of these three villages face different directions, which give different characteristics to the wines even though they are less than 8km away from each other.

The palate reveals a balanced, fleshy, fruity rosé Champagne displaying great simplicity. Producer Information Champagne Charles de Cazanove, though now based in Reims, was founded in Avizé, in the Côte des Blancs subregion of Champagne, in 1811 by Charles Gabriel de Cazanove – a 24-year-old glassmaker. Nearly one hundred years later, mirroring the royal patronage of many Champagne houses of the late 19th Century, King Edward VII of England was having stock specially imported from France with his own personal label. From the 1950s the Martini and Rossi company gained increasing control of the house. It was owned by Moët and Chandon from 1983 to 1985 before being sold to an Epernay distributor. In 2004, it was purchased by the Rapeneau family, owners of the GH Martel Champagne house. It now falls within the wider GH Martel group. The Charles de Cazanove portfolio cosists of three basic tiers of wines, which are topped by the Grand Apparat cuvée and the deluxe Stradivarius range. Grand Apparat is a predominantly Pinot Noir-based Champagne Blend (with over 50 percent Pinot Noir, 30 percent Chardonnay and just over ten percent Pinot Meunier) while Stradivarius is Chardonnay-dominant (roughly 70 percent Chardonnay to 30 percent Pinot Noir). In addition, chef de cave Christophe Rapeneau makes a sibling range labelled as Champagne Vieille France, which is now marketed separately but is often listed as a sub-brand of Charles de Cazanove.

Producer: Champagne Chavost Vintage: NV Size: 750ml ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir Country/Region: France, Champagne It is as elegant and complex as the other Champagnes. It has also a lovely freshness, delicious notes of strawberry, raspberry and lime zest. It’s a Champagne with an extra natural kick! Producer Information Champagne Chavost is a grower based in Chavot-Courcourt, just to the south of Épernay. All wines have no added sulfites. The domaine was formed in 1946. There are 5 hectares (12 acres) of manually harvested vineyards, currently in conversion to organic status. As well as avoiding sulfur, there are no chemical additions, chaptalization or acidity management, and no fining or filtration of the base wines. Fermentations use native yeasts. All of the white cuvées are made entirely from first-press juice. The Blanc D'Assemblage Brut Nature is the core non-vintage release with around 9000 bottles. It combines 47 percent each of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier with 6 percent Pinot Noir. The base wine is vinified entirely in thermoregulated stainless steel. Both the Blanc de Chardonnay and Blanc de Meunier have zero dosage though the former is labeled as an Extra Brut and the latter as a Brut Nature. Output for both is about 3,700 bottles. The Rosé de Saignée is two-thirds Pinot Meunier, one-third Pinot Noir. Only around 1,000 bottles are released. Eureka! is a Brut Nature based on Pinot Noir (70 percent) with equal parts of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Production is around 2000 bottles. Discontinued cuvées may still be avialble at some of the retailers on our database. Chavost also produces just over 1000 bottles of a Chardonnay Coteaux Champenois still wine. It spends 18 months in used French oak barrels. Vinification follows the same principles as the sparkling wines.

Medium-bodied with sharp, vibrant acidity. Fine bubbles. Fresh and energetic. Reviews: Wine Advocate: This disgorgement of the NV Cuvée des Moines Brut Rosé is from September 2017 and is (probably) based on the 2014 vintage. The salmon colored wine leads to a delicate, fresh and vinous nose with intense red fruit and floral aromas and a refined chalkiness. It's a bit reductive perhaps but nicely round and fruity on the elegant and refined palate. An excellent cuvée of Pinot Meunier (40%) and equal parts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Wine Enthusiast: This textured Champagne is on the cusp between vibrancy and a sense of some bottle age in its toastiness. The crisper aspect still shows in the lime and red-currant flavors. Producer Information Besserat de Bellefon was founded in Ay in 1843 by Edmond Besserat, who originally hailed from Hautvillers. Over the years he became recognized for his skill in crafting exceptional cuvées that he supplied to the greatest hotels, restaurants and wine merchants of the day. Following in Edmond's footsteps, future generations continued the business. His grandsons, Victor and Edmond, became as passionate as their forebear about work well done and a commitment to excellence and quality. With complementary talents (one was an outstanding technician, the other a highly accomplished taster) they worked together in complete harmony. They were committed to developing Besserat de Bellefon’s renown and prestige. In 1920 Edmond married Yvonne de Méric de Bellefon, daughter of a noble Champagne family, giving the House a family crest, and the Besserat de Bellefon legend was born.

Producer Information Roederer Estate is a California sparkling wine producer located in Anderson Valley. Established in 1982 by the Champagne house Louis Roederer, the first wine was released in 1988. The sparkling wines are made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the methode traditionnelle, and are considered as some of California's best. The estate covers 620 acres (250 hectares) of vineyard land, and farms with organic and biodynamic methods. Anderson Valley's cool climate is well-suited to the production of sparkling wines, and the estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are able to ripen slowly and retain acidity, which is essential for sparkling wine production. Roederer is known for its blending style. Only the first pressing of fruit – around 70 percent of the total pressed – is used. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, wines are blended with oak-aged reserve wines and spend a minimum of two years on their lees before disgorgement. The house has previously produced two non-vintage cuvées – the Brut, composed of around 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir; and the Brut Rosé, composed of about 55 percent Pinot Noir and 45 percent Chardonnay. As of 2021, Roederer are no longer producing vintage Champagne. L'Ermitage, Roederer's prestige cuvée, is a vintage sparkling wine made only in exceptional years from the estate's best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The wine debuted with the 1989 vintage. Varietal wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also availible at the cellar door.

A very good rose to match salads and barbecued fish. Wine Spectator: This mouthwatering rosé shows finesse and style, as flavors of pink grapefruit sorbet, white cherry, lemon blossoms and blanched almond dance across the palate on a lightly chalky mousse. Producer Information Champagne Henriot is an independent, family-owned house in Champagne. The Brut Souverain is the house's most important wine, both in terms of fame and production, and is made of roughly equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a smaller proportion of Pinot Meunier. The Henriot family control roughly 35 hectares (87 acres) of vineyards, scattered around the Vallée de la Marne, Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. These provide around 20 percent of the company's needs, with most of the remainder supplied by regular contract growers. Pinot Noir is selected mainly from the premier and grands cru vineyards on the northern slope of the Montagne de Reims, while the Chardonnay comes largely from the Côte des Blancs. Chardonnay is Henriot's most important variety, and the portfolio has both a generic Blanc de Blancs wine and the premium Cuve 38, sourced exclusively from grand cru vineyards. Henriot also makes a Demi-Sec and Rosé Brut, as well as a Vintage Brut and Rosé. Previously named the Cuvée des Enchanteleurs, the Cuvée Hemera is at the very top of the range and is only produced in the best years. The first vintage of the Cuvée Hemera was the 2005. The Henriot family came from Lorraine originally, but moved to the Champagne region in 1640 and began to broker wines and acquire vineyards. Henriot was established in 1808 and in 1850, the business was declared the official supplier to the Imperial and Royal Court of Austria.

Producer Information Champagne Delamotte is a Champagne house located at Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte de Blancs. It was established in 1760 by François Delamotte, and most closely associated with the Chardonnay grape variety. This is no surprise considering that its 'sister' house is the legendary Champagne Salon. The champagne is primarily produced with fruit grown from chalk soils in the Grand Cru villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, and Cramant. Delamotte also cultivates some Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier for its Brut and Rosé Champagnes. Red varieties are sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne. The compact portfolio is as follows. All wines are Brut, receiving a light dosage (sugar adjustment) before being packaged for sale.

Notes of herbs, spice and strawberry follow through on the mouth. The finish has considerable authority. Producer Information Evelyne Roques – Boizel continues the tradition of women from Champagne who have inspired their house with drive and character. In 1984, she expressed the spirit which has guided the four generations of Boizels preceding her throughout its 150 year history in the motto, "A Family, A House, A Tradition". The House was founded by August in 1834, participating in the great adventure of the beginnings of Champagne. The House gradually built up a reputation in France and abroad, for August had already understood the importance of exporting. His son Edouard had immense wine – cellars tunneled into the flank of Mont Bernon and made the first bruts of the young House. He created vintage Champagnes, some of which rest to this day in the deepest of the Boizel cellars, in the vault known as "Tésor" (Treasure). Jules further developed export markets and from 1920 onwards produced a Cuvée "Blanc de Blancs" (100% Chardonnay), a rare choice at that time. After the war, his son, René Boizel, found himself at the helm of a House which had suffered greatly… All he had left were his cellars, the loyal friendship of his customers and, as a sportsman, great reserves of energy. He restored the House to the position it had occupied before and opened up new markets. He...

The palate's boldly stated, showcasing plenty of fleshy wild-berry and nectarine supporting flavors of wild strawberry, smoke, lemon peel and aromatic herbs. Fresh and focused, with a mouthwatering finish. Producer Information The Aubry estate is in the village of Jouy-les-Reims in the western part of the Montagne de Reims. Twin borthers Pierre and Philippe farm parcels in the limestone and clay soils of Jouy, as well as sites in three other premiere cru villages: Pargny-les-Reims, Villedommange, and Coulommes-la-Montagne. Aubry also farms one and a half hectares of ancient grape varieties still permitted by A.O.C. law. Their plantings of Petit Mesilier, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris) and Arbanne were completed in 1989 to mark the 200 year aniversary of grape growing by the Aubry family. Aubry makes two different cuvees to showcase these rare grapes. The Le Novembre d’Or Veteres Vites blends all seven permissible grapes in the Champagne Appelation: Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc Petit Mesleir, Arbanne, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. The Blanc de Blanc Le November d’Or Sable Brut blends Petit Meslier, Arbanne and Chardonnay all from parcels in Jouy-les-Reims. Sable is named for the French word for fettle or fine, referring to this cuvee’s lower atmospheric pressure; four atmospheres, rather than the normal six.

The nose suggests a delicious cocktail of red fruits. The ensemble is integrated on the palate by the finesse of the bubbles and the joyous sparkle of a persistant mousse.

Vilmart produces wines from 11 hectares (27 acres) of vineyards in and around the village, with about 60-percent planted to Chardonnay and 40-percent to Pinot Noir. It is a so-called "grower" Champagne house, which means it only makes wines from vineyard plots that it owns, rather than buying in grapes, which is common for the larger houses. Vilmart's standard cuvée is Chardonnay-dominant, with Pinot Noir contributing around 30-percent. On top of this, the house produces a range of other wines, including the flagship Grand Cellier d'Or vintage wine, also Chardonnay-dominant, made from the oldest plots of vines. The base wine is aged for 10 months in 228-liter oak barrels before the secondary fermentation. There are numerous other wines including the Rubis rosé.

Blend : 45% Pinot Noir, 34% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Meunier. Producer Information Champagne Jacquart was founded in 1964 in Reims, Champagne by a group of 18 grapegrowers. This group has since grown to approximately 1500, covering half of the crus in Champagne. The wines are produced from the Champagne blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The house style is fresh and fruit-focused, without the influence of too much oak. There are three ranges at Champagne Jacquart: the Mosaique, the vintage and the Alpha series. The non-vintage Mosaique collection is in reference to the mosaic of areas from which Jacquart source their grapes; within this collection are brut, extra-brut and rosé expressions. The brut and rosé wines spend three years aging on their lees, while the extra brut ages for five years in the cellar. The Alpha is the prestige cuvée from the house and is made from equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These grapes are sourced from four crus in the Montagne de Reims: Mailly, Trépail, Villers-Marmery and Verzenay. It is aged for six years in the cellars before being released. The house has access to grapes from grand cru and premier cru appellations in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. Grapes are all handpicked and are softly pressed in the winery. Fermented takes place in stainless steel vats. The wines are bottled for the second fermentation and aged for at least three years on their lees before they are disgorged and released.
