Enjoy it neat or on the rocks for an unforgettable experience. Teaninich 12 Year Old (D.2011, B.2023) Moscatel Cask Finish The Cooper’s Choice Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: Impressive and charming nose. Palate: The palate is an explosion of delicate flavors, nice and delightful mouthfeel. Finish: Elegant long lasting aftertaste. Distillery Information The Teaninich Distillery is one shrouded in mystery. Founded in 1817, the Highland single malt whisky producer today has an annual capacity of 10.2 million litres and distills for brands including Haig Dimple, VAT 69 and Johnnie Walker. Despite its size and stature (it’s Diageo’s third-largest whisky distillery, covering more than 20 acres), there’s not much out there about Teaninich as a whisky in its own right – which is rather a shame as the liquid exudes as much character and body as its two illustrious near-neighbours: Dalmore and Glenmorangie. It was Captain Hugh Munro, head of the local clan, who set up Teaninich more than 200 years ago. Fun fact: in 1887 it became the first distillery north of Inverness to have electricity and a telephone. Teaninich remained in Munro family hands up until 1904, when Robert Innes Cameron, formerly a major shareholder, became the sole owner. After his death in 1932, the site was acquired by Distillery Company Limited the following year. Teaninich was passed from pillar to post through various mergers and acquisitions during the latter part of the 20th century, and today the distillery is of course owned by Diageo. If Teaninich is well-known for anything it is surely its unique blend of historic whisky distilling and cutting-edge technology – for example, it is one of just two Scotch distilleries to up its efficiency through using a mash filter instead of a mash tun or lauter tun. This focus on modernity has only accelerated in recent years: in 2013 Diageo invested £26 million in the site, essentially constructing a brand new, six-still-strong stillhouse and more than doubling capacity. In total, the site boasts 20 washbacks, six wash stills and six spirit stills, and 90% of its incoming barley is grown in Scotland. Teaninich is one of those rare whiskies where official bottlings are outranked by third-party products – and there aren’t even that many of those....

Size: 700ML Proof: 100 (50%ABV) Origin: Scotland Distillery: Teaninich This 10-year-old Teaninich single malt made it into The Golden Cut Collection – part of The Cooper's Choice series of independent bottlings from The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. Distilled in 2015, the whisky enjoyed a finish in Port casks before it was bottled at a hearty 50% ABV, bringing mouthcoating layers of dark fruits and spices. Teaninich 10 Year Old 2015 - The Cooper's Choice The Golden Cut Collection Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: Summer fruits and dark, jammy currants, with roasted malt and nut butter in tow. Palate: Rich, juicy layers of cassis, dark berries, toasted nuts, and spices. Finish: Sweet malt, jammy fruits, cakey spice. In total, the site boasts 20 washbacks, six wash stills and six spirit stills, and 90% of...

Lagavulin Manager`s Choice (Bottled 2009) 1993 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: The aroma profile opens to mixed fruits, a touch of medicinal notes, seaweed, sea breeze, honey, toffee, and salt. Palate: The palate offers sherry-infused honey sweetness, hints of eucalyptus, apricot, savoury ham, traces of an old campfire, anise, camphor, and malt. Finish: Perfect, long lasting finish. Distillery Information Lagavulin is one of the 'big three' peated malts from southern Islay, the other two being Ardbeg and Laphroaig. Official founded in 1816 by John Johnston, the distillery draws water from the local Solan Lochs while the peat is sourced from bogs on the western edge of the island. The team run four stills, two of which they inherited from the mythical Malt Mill distillery that was built on the same site, and favour long distillations, resulting in rounder, smoother whisky. For a long time the distillery favoured a 16 year old as their flagship bottling - the extended ageing indicative of their preference for less active, second or third full ex-Bourbon casks. Considered by many to be the classic Islay dram, Lagavulin is peaty and dry with hints of sea-spray and bonfire. More mature bottlings are notable by their elegant smokiness and complex aromas.

Size: 700ML Proof: 100 (50%ABV) Origin: Scotland Distillery: Highland Park This 2015 vintage single malt is brought to us as part of The Cooper's Choice Golden Cut Collection from the Vintage Malt Whisky Co. Matured for a total of nine years, the whisky was treated to a finish in a sauternes wine cask, bringing zesty notes of citrus honey and tropical fruit sweetness to the gently smoky malt at its core. Highland Park 9 Year Old 2015 - The Cooper's Choice The Golden Cut Collection Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: Smoked heather honey and hints of grilled tropical fruits. Palate: Honeyed sweetness carries through with candied orange, lemon drops, and delicate peat smoke. Finish: Smoky embers, apricot pastries, and sweetly warming spice. Distillery Information Highland Park is Scotland’s northernmost whisky distillery, lying just to the North-east of fellow Orcadian, Scapa. Orkney is a rugged, beautiful island and the Highland Park distillery sits on a hillside near Kirkwall. Not far off, are sweeping plains of barley field and the rocky outcrops which protrude ominously from the ground. The sea beats the coast; her salty air and the island’s geology contribute to the rich character of Highland Park single malts. The distillery draws its water from the mineral rich springs to the east of the distillery as well as the Crantit Spring. Highland Park was founded in 1798, by David Robertson on what was once the site of Magnus Eunson's cottage. Eunson was not only a beadle at the local church but also a notorious smuggler. Highland Park was officially licensed in 1826. After James Borwick inherited the distillery in 1869, the production at Highland Park was slowed; James was a priest and believed that whisky production contradicted with his religious status. Accordingly, in 1876 Stuart and Mackay moved in and dramatically helped sales through overseas exportation.

Palate: Nutty malt, runny toffee, and creamy milk chocolate, with leathery oak and soft spices beneath. Finish: Oily malt lingers, with waxed citrus, vanilla fudge, and nutty biscotti. Distillery Information In 1958, Tormore whisky distillery was built by Schenley International, they had intentioned it to supply whisky for their Long John blends. The rather elegant distillery sits in the Cromdale Hills of Speyside, surrounded by pine forest and overlooking the River Spey. The buildings were designed by Sir Albert Richardson, of Royal Academy fame, and are so picturesque they are already B-listed and, furthermore, have been reproduced in scale model form for an exhibition at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre in Edinburgh. Production commenced in 1960 and, following a healthy start, the stills capacity was doubled to number eight. Today, Tormore has a capacity of 3.7 million litres annually, all of which is filled at Chivas Bros warehouses. Some of the spirit is returned for maturation at the distillery. Allied Domecq acquired Tormore in 1989 and five years later the first official house bottling was released, Tormore twelve year-old. Independent bottlings are rather rare, and the official range is quite small, one can, however, find Tormore in the Ballantine’s blend. Presently under Pernod Ricard ownership following Chivas’ 2005 acquisition of Allied Domecq.

Palate: Poached plums, dusted with cakey spices, with sweet, juicy barley beneath. Finish: Fruit loaf, woody spice, caramelised biscuits. Distillery Information In 1892, John Morrison purchased the Knock Estate and farm. Shortly after, he uncovered a spring on Knock Hill’s southern slopes. He found the water to have a superb flavour and sent it to a Distiller’s Company Limited-owned Laboratory in Edinburgh for evaluation. They confirmed the water was indeed of outstanding quality and put up an offer for the site. Morrison gladly accepted. The Knockdhu distillery was built in May of 1893 and designed by the Elgin-based architects Gordon and Macbey. The distillery was the first to be built by Distillers Company Ltd. The water is piped from Knock Hill to the distillery and also to those living in the local village, though today five other water sources are used in supplement as well as that from the Ternemney Brook, which proffers the distillery’s cooling water. The capacity is small; the distillery’s pair of stills produce around 900,000 litres yearly. Today, none of the whisky is bottled as Knockdhu single malt. Rather as anCnoc. The name anCnoc was chosen as the current owners, Inver House, deemed Knockdhu too similar to Knockando and relabelled it to avoid confusion. Despite being small, the Knockdhu whisky distillery boasts large onsite storage facilities; its five warehouses have space for 7,600 casks.

Palate: Layers of fruit cake, poached orchard fruits, nut brittle, and baking spice. Finish: Lingering sweetness with robust sherried oak and spiced fruit. Distillery Information Founded in 1897, the Tomatin whisky distillery sits at an altitude of 313m just to the west of the village of the same name and quenches its annual five million litre capacity with the pure waters of the Allt-na-Frithe. Closing briefly at the beginning of the 20th century, Tomatin experienced good fortunes and during the 1950s began increasing its stills, installing the last in 1974, bringing its total to an impressive 23, although 11 were dismantled in 2002. Following the 1985 liquidation of prior owners Tomatin Distillers Company, the Tomatin distillery became the first Scottish single malt maker to be purchased by a Japanese company; in 1986 Takara Shuzo and Okara acquired Tomatin, which stands, today, as one of Scotland’s largest distilleries. Tomatin not only has a substantial capacity but also boasts an onsite cooperage and 14 warehouses, nearly as large as Japan’s largest distillery, the Suntory owned Hakushu. There is a profusion of independent bottlings, though there is a rather small house range. The Scotch from Tomatin is also used in many blends, notably in the famed ‘The Antiquary’ range. Today, the distillery runs at full capacity, largely producing unpeated malt whisky. Following the acquisition of Okara’s interests by Takara Shuzo and a subsequent amalgamation, the whisky distillery is now under the ownership of The Marubeni group. Palate: Balanced and rich flavors. Finish: Elegant long-lasting aftertaste. Distillery Information The Linkwood distillery sits in Elgin, drawing its water from the springs of Millbuies Loch. Next to the distillery is a large and rather beautiful reservoir which plays host to a variety of local wildlife including ducks and swans, the latter can be seen gracing the label of the twelve year-old bottling. Linkwood is home to two stillhouses, Linkwood A, which is currently not in use, houses the two original stills and Linkwood B, in which a further four stills operate. The distillery has a capacity of 2.24 million litres per annum and the majority of the whisky produced is used for blending, notably in Johnnie Walker. Thanks to Diageo there have been, of late, several single malt whiskies released from Linkwood. In 2008, three twenty-six year-olds were launched, notable for their 50cl bottles and having spent the last fourteen years of their maturation in either rum, red wine or port casks.

Inchgower 11 Year Old 2011 Cask #803818 - The Cooper's Choice (The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.) Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: Rich and delicate nose. Palate: Balanced and rich flavors. Finish: Elegant long-lasting aftertaste. Distillery Information The Inchgower distillery was founded as ‘The Great Distillery of Inchgower’ in 1871 by Alexander Wilson and Co. It was intended that Inchgower would utilise the buildings and equipment of the old Tochieneal Distillery. The Inchgower distillery lies in Banffshire not far from the mouth of the River Spey and just on the outskirts of the fishing town, Buckie. The distillery was bought out by Buckie Town Council in 1936, following the bankruptcy of Alexander Wilson and Co. Two years later Arthur Bell and Sons acquired the distillery for £3,000. During the 1960s Arthur Bell and Sons renovated the distillery and installed a further two stills, doubling the total capacity to a little less than two million litres annually. They also included Inchgower Scotch whisky as a component in the popular Bells blend, the vast majority of whisky produced at the distillery, as much as 99%, is used as a blending component. In 1985, Guinness acquired the distillery, and following the merger with Grand Metropolitan, Inchgower is currently under the watchful eye of Diageo. Despite being a relatively small-scale distillery, Inchgower boasts thirteen onsite warehouses which hold up to 60,000 casks. There have been very few official releases, though independent bottlings are available.

Size: 700ML Proof: 104 (52%ABV) Origin: Scotland Distillery: Loch Lomond The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. got hold of this heavily peated Inchfad single malt from Loch Lomond and bottled it up for The Cooper's Choice collection. Distilled in 2009, the whisky enjoyed 15 years maturing in a single bourbon cask, bringing generous notes of creamy vanilla pod and toasted oak to join the earthy smoke at its core. Inchfad 15 Year Old 2009 Cask #1012 - The Cooper's Choice (The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.) Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: Very elegant and precise aromas. Palate: Balanced and rich flavors. Finish: Elegant long-lasting aftertaste. Distillery Information Over the course of Loch Lomond’s existence, the distillery has released seven different malts. Four of them were destined for blending, the remaining three were intended to be bottled as single malt whiskies, though most have been released as such over the years. Bottlings have been under the names: Inchmurrin, Inchmoan, Inchfad, Crotengea, Glen Douglass, Craiglodge and, naturally, Loch Lomond, each with varying peat levels. The name Loch Lomond is used for single malt releases though it is also used for a blended Scotch produced onsite using both grain and malt whisky. Loch Lomond was in such a good position to release so many different whiskies as it had an unusual set up of stills. There were three sets of stills, two were fitted with rectification columns as well as five continuous stills. Loch Lomond sits in an industrial complex, once home to Britain’s earliest car factory. The distillery was built in 1965 by the Littlemill Distillery Company Ltd, under the ownership of Duncan Thomas and American Barton Brands. Production began a year later.

Glenrothes 26 Year Old Signatory Vintage Symington’s Choice 1997 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: It has very pleasant and lovely aromas. Palate: A very pleasant, rich and smooth taste in the mouth. Lovely texture. Finish: Elegant long lasting aftertaste. Distillery Information The Glenrothes Distillery is located in Rothes in the heart of the Speyside. It looks back on a very turbulent history. The day the first spirit was distilled at Glenrothes was 28 December 1879 and this might have been seen a bit as a bad omen: It was the day the Tay Bridge at Dundee collapsed.
