The brand itself was created by Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants. The Mitchell's originally bought full casks of mature whiskey from the Jameson Bow street distillery and had these cask transported to their bonded warehouse in Fitzwilliam lane. When these cask reached certain ages they would paint a coloured spot on the cask to mark these milestones. A Green Spot was marked on the casks to mark 10 years old. These were such sought after whiskeys and such an iconic brand that they have now been recreated by Irish Distillers. Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whisky Tasting Notes Nose: Clearly sherried.
