A proper blackstrap rum with history, heft and plenty of flavour for anyone who enjoys the darker end of the spectrum. Pusser's Night Watch Black Strap Dark Rum 700ML Tasting Notes Nose: Rich and delicate nose. Palate: Balanced and rich flavors. Finish: Elegant long-lasting aftertaste. Distillery Information Pusser’s Rum was founded by sailor and businessman Charles Tobias in 1979, using the original blending recipe which he had been given by the Admiralty. Between the mid-17th and 19th centuries, the sailors of the Royal Navy were granted a daily ration of rum. This was afforded them by the ship’s Purser. The term Purser was gradually corrupted until it became Pusser, inspiring the name, and the style of the modern-day Pusser's rum range. The Pusser's portfolio now includes a host of expressions, showcasing the traditional British Naval style demerara rum. Pusser's Blue Label sits at the heart of the range and was originally bottled for sale at 54.5% ABV. However, this caused a bit of a conundrum over the years, as Pusser's couldn't be shipped to Navel bases around the world, where the maximum permitted strength is 40% ABV. To resolve the issue, the range underwent a revamp in 2014, Blue Label is now bottled at 40% ABV as standard, while the 'Gunpowder Proof' Black Label edition boasts the original higher strength. These bold, characterful molasses-based rums make for hearty sippers served neat over ice, and are a top choice for adding weight and character to cocktails and mixed drinks. Pusser's signature cocktail (which it managed to trademark in the 1980s) is the Painkiller. A twist on the classic Piña Colada, this tropical serve combines pineapple juice, orange juice, and coconut cream with a hearty helping of rum and a sprinkling of nutmeg – dangerously delicious!
