The term Purser was gradually corrupted until it became Pusser, inspiring the name, and the style of the modern-day Pusser's rum range. Pusser's Blue Label sits at the heart of the range and was originally bottled for sale at 54.5% ABV. However, this caused a bit of a conundrum over the years, as Pusser's couldn't be shipped to Navel bases around the world, where the maximum permitted strength is 40% ABV.
