The original terraces recovered thanks to a naturalistic architecture intervention, are cultivated by hand: skilled local workers dedicate their time and dedication to the vineyard following its natural cycle. At the end of winter the sheep graze the grass among the vines, the teams hoe the earth made softer by the passage of the flock. Each phase, from pruning to tying the vineyards, is carried out with great manual skill, today as in past times the natural cycle is rediscovered in the characteristic Etna landscape. In 1959 Bruno Fronti created an agricultural service business from scratch, which he then grew successfully thanks to the collaboration with his sons Fabio and Stefano. Agrichanti today is among the most successful companies in earthmoving, vineyard planting and greenery management. Having worked in the wine sector for many years, in 1982 the first land was purchased to plant our vineyards. Today we own almost 20 hectares of vineyards, mainly in the municipality of Radda in Chianti and also in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. These vineyards are not grouped together, but rather in separate plots. For many years the wine produced with our grapes, except for a small part which was kept for family consumption, was sold in bulk to other wineries, until the 2009 harvest, when the first bottle with our label was finally made. With the inclusion of the second generation in the company, it is natural to start its own bottled production. The 2009 harvest and the first 3,000 bottles of Chianti Classico concretely represent what has always been the great passion for wine, thus integrating and completing the family business. Having worked in the wine sector for many years, in 1982 the first land was purchased to plant our vineyards. The winery was founded by cousins Alessio and Santi Planeta with their uncle Diego, who originally owned the Settesoli wine cooperative. At Planeta, there are six different wine-producing estates spread across the island, producing wines from local grapes Fiano and Nero d'Avola, as well as international varieties like Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. The six individual estates cover a variety of terroirs, varieties and methods of production. Menfi Dispensa is in the west is the heart of the family's land. It has the largest estate and winery and it the site of the private residence of the Planeta family. Varieties such as Fiano, Garganega, Chardonnay, Syrah and Nero d'Avola are grown here. Another of the Planeta estates is Buonivini in Noto, on the southeast corner of the island. Grapes grown and produced here include Nero d'Avola and Moscato Bianco, and are used to make Santa Cecilia DOC Noto and Passito di Noto respectively. The soils here are calcareous and rich in clay with a fine texture and high water retention.
