Producer: Terrazze dell'Etna Vintage: 2018 Size: 750ml ABV: 13% Varietal: Nerello Mascalese Country/Region: Italy, Sicily Terrazze dell’Etna have made a wine from a native Etna variety known for its finesse and crisp character, this white is fresh and fragrant with notes of tropical fruit and a hint of rosemary. Perfect for lovers of mineral-driven, dry white wines. Producer Information The company was founded in 2008 thanks to the rigorous attention paid by the Bevilacqua family in the recovery of the environmental context, in the restoration of the ancient vineyards, the millstones, the stone terraces, testimony to the history of the places. Today it covers an area of approximately 40 hectares producing 11 types of wines. The original terraces recovered thanks to a naturalistic architecture intervention, are cultivated by hand: skilled local workers dedicate their time and dedication to the vineyard following its natural cycle. At the end of winter the sheep graze the grass among the vines, the teams hoe the earth made softer by the passage of the flock. Each phase, from pruning to tying the vineyards, is carried out with great manual skill, today as in past times the natural cycle is rediscovered in the characteristic Etna landscape. The Terrazze dell'Etna company was founded in 2008 when Nino Bevilacqua , an engineer from Palermo in love with his land, began a passionate work of recovery of the ancient and characteristic local agricultural environment: through the purchase of small plots of land abandoned and submerged by brambles . The company is located within the Etna Natural Park and climbs the slopes of the volcano on the north-west side. Terrazze dell'Etna was born with the aim of enhancing the terroir of the highest active volcano in Europe and its native vine , Nerello Mascalese . Today we export to various countries abroad, proud to be able to tell the story of these one-of-a-kind wines.

Producer: Pian dell'Orino Vintage: 2019 Size: 750ml ABV: 14% Varietal: Sangiovese Country/Region: Italy, Tuscany The 2019 Rosso Di Montalcino is ripe but energetic, with pure red cherry, rose petal, orange peel, and white pepper. It is medium-bodied, with elegant ripe raspberry with a graceful feel. Producer Information Pian dell'Orino is a leading Montalcino wine estate. Well-known for its reds from the Sangiovese grape, the estate has 22 different clones planted to the variety. The 6 hectare (15 acre) estate covers four different vineyards in Montalcino, located next to the famous vineyards of Biondi Santi. The chalk-rich soils have proved very well suited to the Sangiovese grapes that are grown here. Proprietors Caroline Pobitzer and Jan Hendrick Erbach have farmed the estate organically and biodynamically for many years. Pian dell'Orino's top wine, the Bassolino di Sopra, is sourced from the upper part of the Bassolino vineyard. This inaugural vintage was 2007, and since has only been produced in the best years. In 2006 and 2004, a Riserva without a vineyard designation was made instead. The standard Brunello di Montalcino wine – called Vigneti del Versante from 2010 – is sourced from the Bassolino and Cancello Rosso vineyards. It is aged for around 45 months in large oak vats. The lineup also includes a Rosso di Montalcino that spends a year in oak barriques, and the Piandorino, a varietal Sangiovese made under the Toscana IGT designation. This wine is made with fruit from the more fertile parts of the vineyards, and is regarded by the estate as a more obviously fruity wine than the classic Montalcino style. Pian dell'Orino gained considerable attention in 2016 when the Bassolino di Sopra wine received a 100-point rating from Robert Parker's publication The Wine Advocate.

Producer: Terrazze dell Etna Vintage: 2017 Size: 750ml ABV: 12.5% Varietal: Chardonnay Country/Region: Italy, Sicily A product of great fineness and elegance, well balanced with a discreet softness. Good intense aromatic persistence with an olfactive return of minerals and citrus hints, quite sapid, the foam is creamy and refined. Pair with fish and crustaceans, even raw, traditional Sicilian pasta dishes, soft cheese and white meat. Producer Information Terrazze dell’ Etna winery was founded in 2008 by Nino Bevilacqua, an engineer from Palermo, when legendary Italian winemaker Riccardo Cotarella helped him to plan and build this extraordinary property. Stretching over 36 hectares including a mix of vineyards, olive trees, cherry trees, chestnut trees, and oaks, the estate grows all of its own grapes at altitudes that range from 600 to 950 meters a.s.l. — some of the highest-lying vineyards in the world. The name of the winery was inspired by the traditional terracing method (terrazza means terrace in Italian) that the Bevilacqua family revived when it purchased the farm more than a decade ago. Although the family also grows some international varieties for its classic-method sparkling wines, here the focus is on the native Nerello family of red grapes, Nerello Mascalease (the primary grape used in Etna wines) and Nerello Cappuccio. Farming here is only done by hand and the estate employs integrated farming techniques which encompasses upkeeping a variety of crops and livestock to enhance biodiversity. The soils are volcanic in nature, produced over the centuries by Mt. Etna in the vicinity. Terrazze dell’ Etna also practises a traditional approach to winemaking, with minimal intervention to create one of the appellation’s purest expressions.

Reviews: Wine Advocate: A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2019 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia shows a greater degree of focus and detail compared to the previous vintage that I tasted at the same time. This wine reveals the sharp contours and etched character of the Cabernet Franc, especially with black licorice and black pepper. The results are linear and pure. Elegant fruit notes of blackberry and dark currant add to the thick layering of the wine. Wine Spectator: Currants, sweet tobacco, walnut husk and flowers on the nose. Producer Information Ornellaia is one of the foremost producers in the Bolgheri appellation on the coast of Tuscany. It is particularly known for making one of Italy's most famous and expensive wines, which shares the same name. This Bordeaux-style blend is one of the original Super Tuscans. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, instead of Tuscany's most famous variety, Sangiovese. The vineyard, which neighbors Sassacaia in Tuscany's coastal Maremma region, enjoys gentle sea breezes, which mitigate the summer heat, and is sheltered by neighboring hills from cold winter winds. The soils are a complex mix of alluvial, volcanic and marine elements, providing a good base for the Bordeaux varieties planted here. After hand-picking and careful selection – firstly by bunch and secondly grape by grape – each variety and each vineyard block is vinified separately in stainless steel tanks. Ornellaia is aged for around 18 months in oak, 70 percent of which is new.

Producer: Pian dell'Orino Vintage: 2016 Size: 750ml ABV: 14% Varietal: Sangiovese Country/Region: Italy, Tuscany This is a magnificent achievement with an extreme sense of purity and freshness that is elegant and streamlined. The bouquet reveals slight and miniature shifts in its evolution that keep your curiosity as you contemplate the wine in the glass. Wild berry is followed by a steady stream of balsam herb, cola, crushed oyster shell and delicate floral tones.

It’s full-bodied and very linear with tight tannins that draw you down the length of this young wine. Wet-earth and cool-stone undertones. It’s solid and so structured. A classic Ornellaia for the cellar. Reviews: Wine Advocate: This is a beautiful expression of coastal Tuscany and the sunny Mediterranean. The Ornellaia 2019 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia (a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot) pours from the bottle with a specific darkness that has elements of both inky saturation and ruby highlights. The wine is saturated and rich—this is something you notice off the bat—but it also reveals a pleasing lightness or grace that is transmitted to both the bouquet and the palate. Dark fruit, pressed blackberry and plum mingle with more substantial aromas of spice, leather and sweetly cured tobacco. The tannins are beautifully managed, and the wine sports considerable heft and density on the palate that drives a very long and pleasurable mouthfeel. A particularly elegant version of Masseto that combines richness and elegance. Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2018 Masseto is the vintage surprise few of us could have expected.

Producer: Tenuta dell' Ornellaia Ratings: WA 97 WS 97 Vintage: 2019 Size: 750 ml ABV: 14.5% Varietal: Bordeaux Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot Country/Region: Italy, Tuscany The aromas of blackcurrants, fresh basil and thyme, as well as cedar and sandalwood are so attractive. Perfumed and nuanced. Full-bodied, yet so tight and integrated, with weightless tannins that frame the wine in a precise and curated fashion. Very structured and built for aging. It’s rather shy now, but will reward those who are patient. A kind of stealth in its nature. A more thought-provoking edition of Masseto. Reviews: Wine Advocate: This bottle opens a new chapter for one of Italy's most celebrated and collected wines. The first vintage made entirely in its dedicated state-of-the-art winery (and the first vintage with a 10% dabble of Cabernet Franc added to what has historically aways been a pure expression of Merlot), the Masseto 2019 Masseto has two main themes at heart: concentration and elegance. And managing those two seemingly contrasting elements requires a little bit of magic. That's the Masseto magic we look for. The 2019 vintage delivers it in spades with lovely concentrated fruit, blackberry, integrated spice, tobacco, crushed slate, pencil shaving and lots of texture and fiber to push a lasting mouthfeel. The wine's richness translates into density and power to the palate, meanwhile the bouquet reveals fluidity and new sides as the wine opens in the glass. The finish is tapered and focused. Wine Spectator: Intense aromas of blackberries and black olives, together with hints of rosemary bush and lavender. Perfumed and nuanced. It shows loads of blackberry, blackcurrant and walnut flavors. Ripe yet polished tannins. Give this three or four years to come together. Reviews: Wine Advocate: This vintage of Ornellaia is called Solare and represents the 12th edition in the estate's Vendemmia d'Artista series featuring artwork by Tomás Saraceno. His beautiful art depicts a radiant sun halo and is intended as a symbol of sustainability. That theme of sunshine and warmth is particularly well suited to a vintage such as this. The Ornellaia 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is generous and fruit-forward with dense richness and concentration all driven by the smaller and more compact berry size that characterizes this dry, hot growing season. Black and purple fruits segue to spice, tobacco, leather and some of those beautiful Mediterranean notes of black olive and wild sage. These various moving pieces work together in perfect harmony. The tannins are beautifully managed here. If you consider the more astringent and rougher approach of the mid-tier Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia, this wine shows a whole other level of magnificent tannic management that could not have been easy given the diminutive berry size. This vintage sees a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 9% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard soils are characterized by reddish sand with calcareous rock. The wine is fermented in both stainless steel and cement and is transferred over to barrique to finish malolactic fermentation. Medium bodied, rounded tannins and a finale of medium smoothness. Producer Information The winery is quite recent and owned by the Fronti family, whose origins are proudly peasant. In 1959 Bruno Fronti created an agricultural service business from scratch, which he then grew successfully thanks to the collaboration with his sons Fabio and Stefano. Agrichanti today is among the most successful companies in earthmoving, vineyard planting and greenery management. Having worked in the wine sector for many years, in 1982 the first land was purchased to plant our vineyards. Today we own almost 20 hectares of vineyards, mainly in the municipality of Radda in Chianti and also in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. These vineyards are not grouped together, but rather in separate plots. For many years the wine produced with our grapes, except for a small part which was kept for family consumption, was sold in bulk to other wineries, until the 2009 harvest, when the first bottle with our label was finally made. With the inclusion of the second generation in the company, it is natural to start its own bottled production. The 2009 harvest and the first 3,000 bottles of Chianti Classico concretely represent what has always been the great passion for wine, thus integrating and completing the family business. The commitment for the future is to evolve and grow, while remaining faithful to traditions and our territory, trying to enhance as much as possible what nature offers us and the viticultural peculiarities of the highest areas of the Chianti region. We are certified organic since the 2016 harvest. We believe in respecting nature, the people who work in the vineyard and those who appreciate wine in the glass.

Aromatic and mineral. Producer Information In 1920 Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino began to vinify part of the grapes produced in the family's vineyards, a small rural reality in the heart of the Langhe region, in Castiglione Falletto. His son Alfonso started enthusiastically to bottle the wine produced and thanks to Luigi's father, Lorenzo, with perseverance and willpower, the wines were for the first time exported. The Azienda Agricola Azelia, in the centre of the area of Barolo production, is nowadays composed of 16 hectares and it produces, on average, 80,000 bottles per year. Luigi is supported by his wife Lorella and his son Lorenzo, who bears the name of his grandfather and who represents the fifth generation of wine producers. The family management is essential as it permits an extreme precision in every step of the production. Great care is given to the work in the vineyards. Wine is made there from old vines which produce very few grapes. The low yields are further reduced through the green harvest, indispensable to select fruits, to have a uniform ripening and an impeccable quality. It is fundamental a scrupulous attention in the cellar where the respect for the tradition does not exclude the contribution of modern techniques.

Producer Information Valle dell’Acate is found in the south east corner of Sicily, located between the Iblei mountains and the Mediterranean sea in province of Ragusa. This corner of Sicily has always been a hotbed of vinous activity, but it was in the 1800s that Gaetano Jacono founded the cellars.Today the estate has about 80 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards planted to mostly Frappato and Nero d’Avola, with also Grillo and Chardonnay. The vineyards are between Acate, Comiso and Vittoria in the historical “Classico” district for Cerasuolo, which was one of the first Sicilian red wines to earn DOC status in 1973. In 2005, Cerasuolo was elevated to DOCG status—Sicily’s only wine to bear this distinction! The Cerasuolo blend must be comprised of Nero d’Avola and Frappato (50% to 70% Nero d’Avola blended with 30% to 50% Frappato), and the wine must be aged for no less than 18 months before release. Valle dell’Acate’s monovarietal Frappato, Nero d’Avola and Grillo are no less compelling than the flagship Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico. And 2018 will also see the first release of the Iri da Iri, a cru of Cerasuolo which showcases the incredible aging potential of this historic blend.

Producer Information Bellavista is a wine producer located in the heart of the Franciacorta wine region, where it produces a range of well-received vintage and non-vintage sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The company was founded by Vittorio Moretti in the early 1970s. The estate spans 190 hectares (470 acres) of vineyard land spread across 10 communes in the Franciacorta DOCG zone. Varieties planted include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Bianco, with vines averaging more than 20 years old. Bellavista's vineyards have a wide range of different soil types and are divided into 147 small parcels based on geographical differences and grape variety. These plots remain separate throughout the harvest and vinification process – the subsequent base wines are blended to achieve Bellavista's house style. Bellavista produces all of its sparkling wines by the traditional method (Franciacorta is often favorably compared to Champagne). To produce its non-vintage cuvées, the estate blends current vintage wines with a selection from at least 20 different reserve wines.

Producer: Tenuta dell' Ornellaia Ratings: WA 95 WS 97 Vintage: 2018 Size: 375 ml ABV: 14.5% Varietal: Bordeaux Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot Country/Region: Italy, Tuscany So aromatic and complex with blackcurrants, blueberries, fresh violets and lavender on the nose. Some graphite and iodine, too. Medium to full body with firm, chewy tannins that are polished and refined, yet the palate is so long and refined. This is an Ornellaia with strength in elegance. Reviews: Wine Advocate: The 2018 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is complete and seamlessly stitched together with extreme care and precision. This is an almost technical blend of Merlot (at 50% of the blend for the first time), 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot that offers a true sense of wholeness and consistency that speaks to the blending expertise and experience of the winemaking team. Finding harmony among the various vinous components of the wine was especially important in this vintage that prized early-ripening grapes like Merlot over the others. Blackberry and dried cherry segue to spice, tar, campfire ash and more sweet fruit. We're off to a great start, and this vintage of Ornellaia is surely destined to flesh out and grow more complex with age.
