Here they harnessed the water that flowed through the land utilizing a water wheel to power the entire distillery. Distillery Information In Dufftown we say “Rome was built on seven hills and Dufftown stands on seven stills.” Constructed in 1897 — and the seventh of the distilleries — Glendullan sits on the bank of the River Dullen amongst the picturesque Convall Hills. Glendullan’s onion-shaped stills produce a delicate spirit with a green apple profile. Most of our product is aged in American oak bourbon barrels, which impart sweetness and a rich nuttiness. A smaller portion of our single malt is aged in fruity European sherry casks. Wemyss Malts A Day at the Coast 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes Nose: Nose starts by imparting the crisp scent of sea spray. Underneath that is the vibrant sweetness of apples, along with some low-lying musty and woody notes. Palate: On the palate, with the wood supplanting the salty sea breeze, but mixing well with a foundation of vanilla and apple pie sweetness. The scotch also carries notes of peatiness, and has a noticeable, but not overpowering spicy bite to it, producing a flavor that is well-balanced. Finish: The finish is warm and has an earthy, musty aftertaste, and carries for a middling length of time. Distillery Information The original Clynelish distillery was founded in the village of Brora in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford, notorious for his role in the Highland Clearances. It was subsequently rebuilt on a new site across the road in 1968, and the original Clyenlish distillery was renamed as the Brora distillery. The new Clynelish distillery building was designed following the blueprint of the Caol Ila distillery on Islay.

With the Lovecraft-inspired letterpress bookplate of the James Strand estate on the front pastedown. This copy came from the important Arkham House collection assembled by James Strand of Portland, Oregon. After his death, in August 2023, his house was looted and most of his books were stolen. Some were subsequently recovered by the FBI, including this one, which is accompanied by the original evidence tag.
