[First Edition] Elizabeth and Essex A Tragic History Lytton Strachey [Used - Near fine] [Hardcover]
348.31 CAD
Dust jacket: The grey-toned picture of Elizabeth I on the front panel, the frame around it, the title printing on front and spine panels and the blurb on the back panel about some of Strachey's other books, are all clear, precise and unfaded despite the near 100 year age of the book. There is some light soiling of the cream coloured areas on all panels. There are some very small nicks and chips along the top and bottom edges of all panels. The front fold-in panel is price clipped. Cover boards: Pleasant light-brown, cloth-bound. Unmarked: no scratches dents or bumps. All edges are straight, all corners are sharp. Text block: square (no lean), tightly bound. Top edge stain: dark brown (which nicely complements the light brown of the boards). All edges (amazingly) spotless. Internally: apart from a previous resale price neatly written in soft pencil on the top right of the front free end paper and a tiny black spot (one in each of two places) near the front edges of pages numbered two and thirty-four, there are no other internal marks or inscriptions of any kind, and (again amazingly) no spotting anywhere. We have included nineteen photographs and would be happy to provide more.
