Lyons Company, 1934. First Edition. SIGNED by the author with brief inscription to Weldon Hart of the Austin American-Statesman on front free endpaper. Octavo; 160p. Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and decoration. Photo-illustrated throughout. Boards edgeworn with bumping to corners and spine ends, scuffing to gilt on front, and some general smudging and soiling. Boards open easily but binding is still holding soundly. Smudges to front free endpaper with some foxing to first few pages, clearing up by second chapter. Some small marginal checks in pencil to a few chapters, but no other markings. Considered the first written history of professional football, and also considered more a "historical novel" due to many inaccuracies introduced by March, who, despite being known as "the father of professional football" for his role in founding the NFL, AFL, and the New York Giants, relied on his own memories and unsubstantiated rumors rather than solid research for much of the book's contents. BOOK RESUME: The Earths Face: Landscape and Its Relation to the Health of the Soil examines the relationship between the form of the Earths landscapes; plains, mountains, woods, urban centres, parks, and gardens and the fertility and health of soil across diverse environments. Drawing on early biodynamic agricultural principles, Ehrenfried Pfeiffer evaluates natural and anthropogenic influences on soil health and calls for greater ecological awareness and stewardship of landscapes. With a foreword by R. George Stapledon, the work situates environmental conscience and land management within both scientific and ethical frames, urging responsibility for maintaining soil fertility in an era of mechanization and industrial impact. AUTHOR: Ehrenfried E. Pfeiffer (1899-1961) was a German soil scientist, anthroposophist, and early pioneer of biodynamic agriculture, working in Switzerland and later in the United States. A disciple of Rudolf Steiner, Pfeiffer made significant contributions to soil fertility research, composting techniques, and biodynamic farming methods, helping found the Biodynamic Farming & Gardening Association. His writings including The Earth's Face and later works on soil treatment and biodynamics fused ecological observation with holistic agricultural principles, influencing organic and environmental thinkers in the mid-20th century and beyond.

God created us for a reason, and when we come to recognize our deepest longing, we can discover His plan for your lives. Debbie shares her own stories of heartache, frustration, and triumph as she encourages you to pursue your dreams with courage and passion!" "Debbie Macomber's Knit ogether will push you beyond your present limitations - equipping and encouraging you to travel through doors you thought were closed, but that God is preparing to open!" - Paula White, pastor of Without Walls Internatinal Church and author of Deal With It! "What an inspiring reminder Debbie Macomber has given us of the awesome plan God has for each of His children. Knit Together will encourage you not to give up on your dreams and give you the confidence to know that you can do what seems impossible." - Joyce Meyer, #1 New York Times bestselling author and Bible teacher "In her first foray into nonfiction, New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber reveals her inspiring life story, uncouraging readers to dream big and reminding them that they were made for a purpose. Millions of readers have fallen in love with Debbie Macomber's writing. Here heartwarming novels remind us what community and friendship are all about. Each book welcomes us home. Debbie was ten years old when she began writing, but she kept it to herself, afraid of having her fragile dream trampled. She was dyslexic, a slow reader, and a just-average student. Her thirdgrade teacher summed up what so many thought of her: "Debbie is such a nice little girl, but she'll never do well in school." Yet Debbie clung to her secret dreams of publication. She believed that God called her to write, and today, after battling years of uncertaintly and rejectino, Debbie is a wildly successful, award-winning, and beloved novelist, with more than sixty million copies of her books sold and nineteen appearances on the New York Times bestseller list (and another thirty hits on the NYT extended list). Not bad for a woman who once, after submitting a proposal to an edition for consideration, was told to "throw it away." Debbie knows what it's like to be told to throw your dream away. But she's here to tell you not to give in to discouragement! From your very beginning, God knit you together with hopes and aspirations. Take courage and inspiration from Debbie as she shares the valuable lessons she's learned over the years about making dreams happen. Dare to dream, to imagine, to wonder."

(1854-1925). "What it has come to": An autograph letter fragment with original pen-and-ink political caricatures, n.d. Single leaf (approximately 110 × 170 mm), written in ink on headed stationery ('Alington, Dean Park, Bournemouth'). The surviving leaf is the illustrated first page only, the remainder of the letter having been removed by a previous collector; extensive mounting residue to the verso. Small paper-clip mark at the upper left corner. Still, very good.  The recto shows an animated pen-and-ink cartoon by Furniss of three figures in confrontation, one gesturing emphatically toward a scuffle between the other two, beneath the caption 'What it has come to?'. The gesturing figure bears a strong resemblance to David Lloyd George. Addressed to Lord Portarlington; unsigned, as its the first-page fragment of a letter. An accomplished example of Furniss's informal sketches that he used to drop into correspondence. Furniss (1854-1925) was one of the leading British illustrators and political cartoonists of his generation, closely associated with Punch.

Autograph card signed to an official connected to the Royal Academy, with original pen-and-ink self-caricature. London, 23 St Edmund's Terrace, Regent's Park, [c. 1880s-1890s]. Card, 90 × 140 mm. Autograph manuscript note in ink to recto; pen-and-ink drawing to verso. Two stickers or remnants of attached to the left hand side of the card, some minor edge wear otherwise very good.  Autograph note from Harry Furniss to an offical connected to the Royal Academy, apologising for a delay in replying owing to being occupied but that he will be at the Royal Academy during the week, and thanking him for a suggestion. The verso bears an original self-caricature by Furniss, showing himself top-hatted and intent, captioned 'I have my eye on it', and referring to 'Lot 1864'. The drawing appears to allude directly to the recipient's suggested work, visualising Furniss as a prospective purchaser scrutinising a particular catalogue lot.  Furniss was one of the leading political and social caricaturists of the late Victorian period, best known for his long association with Punch, as well as for illustrating works by Lewis Carroll.

[Signed] [First Edition] Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - Deluxe edition, first printing, signed Rowling J.K. [Used - Fine] [Hardcover] [Signed] [First Edition] Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - Deluxe edition, first printing, signed Rowling J.K. [Used - Fine] [Hardcover] 5991.44 CAD First edition, first printing of the deluxe edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed by J.K. Rowling on the half-title page in black ink. The book was signed in October 2000 for a U.S.-based rare book dealer at a private event. It was subsequently purchased on 8 June 2001 by the previous owner, who carefully preserved the book for nearly twenty-five years before parting with it. The deluxe edition represents the first collector's edition issued in the Harry Potter series. According to Errington (p. 15), the title was published on 27 September 1999 in a limited edition of only 4,869 copies. Because of this restricted limitation, authentically signed copies of the deluxe first edition are exceedingly rare. An unread, fine copy. The red cloth binding is clean and unmarked, with two very small dents to the fore edge of the front board. The spine ends are very slightly pushed, and the corners remain sharp. The endpapers are clean and unmarked, and the pages show only the mild toning typically found in this edition. There is slight separation between the half-title and title page, while the binding itself remains excellent and sound. The blue ribbon marker is untouched and retains its original position. The gilt page edges are almost entirely free from marks. The book is accompanied by the original dealer's letter to the subsequent buyer, as well as a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston (TheHarryPotterSpecialist), the world's sole expert on J.K. Rowling's signature. A very attractive copy of an exceptionally scarce signed collector's edition, presented in a custom-made half-leather clamshell box.

[Used - Near fine] 9568.77 CAD Signed first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The book was signed by J.K. Rowling on the half-title page in the year of publication 2003 for a charity auction, where it was won by the previous owner, Rita, who preserved it for over two decades. This title is one of the hardest Harry Potter book to find signed, as the author made only one very small appearance for its release and did not attend any public signing events around publication due to having recently given birth. The book is in VG+/ near fine condition, with sharp spine ends and corners. There is minor sun fading to the top edge of the front and rear board, and to the top of the spine. Internally, it is bright and clean, with no ownership inscriptions. The page edges are mildly tanned, as is typically seen. A few very light signs of use are visible along the fore-edge. Comes in a fine dust jacket. Included is a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, the world's sole expert on J.K. Rowling's signature and an informative collector's card with additional details. [Signed] [First Edition] Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Signed on loosely inserted bookplate Rowling J.K. [Used - Fine] [Hardcover] [Signed] [First Edition] Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Signed on loosely inserted bookplate Rowling J.K. [Used - Fine] [Hardcover] 3606.55 CAD First edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, with J.K. Rowling's signature on an original Bloomsbury bookplate, loosely inserted. It was won in the week after the bookrelease by 9-year-old Will Matthews from Portswood, Southampton, in a competition to write a poem about which Hogwarts house he would like to be in. The competition was organized on June 21st, 2003, by October Books in Portswood, Southampton. The prize, along with a scroll "from the Sorting Hat", was presented by the mayor in early July 2003 at the bookshop and was covered in the Southern Daily Echo newspaper. The bookplate was originally displayed in a frame in Matthews' room for a couple of years before being stored inside the book. Signed copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are exceptionally scarce. This is primarily because Rowling was unable to hold signing events in 2003, as she had recently given birth. Instead of organizing signing events, her publisher, Bloomsbury, distributed a very limited number of signed bookplates to only a handful of carefully selected booksellers, such as WHSmith, for promotional purposes. Most of these bookplates were affixed to copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, making unused bookplates paired with the book -like this one- scarce. Included is the original scroll that came with the prize and a scan of a highly detailed handwritten letter from Will Matthews, featuring the poem he wrote and other details about the competition. The scroll shows signs of use, both the book and the bookplate are in fine condition. A truly remarkable collector's item. This rare signed bookplate with the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series comes with well-documented provenance and an exceptional story. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, the world's sole expert on J.K. Rowling's signature, as well as an interesting collector's card. For storage and preservation, this lovely book with the signed bookplate is housed in a beautifully crafted, custom-made half-leather clamshell box.

Truman / Independence / Jan. 28, 1956." The associated letter follows a hostage situation in 1956, when Mrs. Clark was held hostage at her bank in Richland, Kansas. Truman adds to the letter: "Saw in the noon paper that a bandit had been shot in your town - hope he's the right one!" Georgia Neese Clark (1898-1995) was the first woman appointed Treasurer of the United States, serving from June 1949 to January 1953 under President Harry S. Truman. A graduate in economics from Washburn College, she worked briefly as an actress in New York before returning to Kansas to manage her family's bank during the Great Depression. A committed Democrat, she became Kansas's Democratic National Committeewoman in 1936 and supported Truman's 1948 presidential campaign. Following his victory, Truman appointed her Treasurer, making her the first woman whose signature appeared on U.S. currency. This set of the Memoirs of Harry S. Truman is limited to 500 unnumbered copies. They were originally meant to be released to the public as a signed limited edition set for $35.00, but President Truman had no desire to profit from his signature. In a letter to Ken McCormick of Doubleday, dated July 1, 1955, Truman comments that "I cannot possibly enter into a program which would look as if I were selling autographs instead of a book. I want the book sold on its merit." Doubleday sent President Truman 500 copies of the deluxe set, which he inscribed to dignitaries over the years. Not all of the 500 were distributed by the president, with a few remaining unsigned copies being sold at the Truman Library.
