[First Edition] Alexander The Gander Tasha Tudor [Used - Very good] [Hardcover]

First Edition (NAP, 1939 the only date on the copyright page). You can see the covers in the photos. They are exceptionally clean and nicely bright. I don't see any soiling at all. There is just the lightest bit of rubbing at the corners. The cover edges are in excellent shape, no rubbing. The spine ends have a tiny bit of rubbing. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. The covers are nicely bound. No binding issues. The pages are very clean. I saw only two little, inconspicuous spots. I saw a couple of minor crinkles. There are no corner creases, no placeholder creases. The last eight pages do have at their center the same tiny nick, no tear, nothing but the nick. There aren't any tears anywhere in the book. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. There is a penned inscription off the top edge of the front end paper. It reads: 'To Frederick with arms full of love from Aunt Elsa + Uncle George.' There is no other writing to be found anywhere in the book. The illustrations are beautiful and are all in excellent condition. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's in quite decent condition. There isn't any conspicuous soiling. There's toning on the spine. There is a smidge of loss at the two spine ends. There is a little loss at the bottom edge of the rear cover just adjacent to the juncture between the rear cover and the rear flap. There is a tiny tear off the front bottom edge just adjacent the spine. There aren't any significant losses or tears. The flaps are in nice condition, very clean. There is a short, thin crinkle just off the rear flap's top edge. There are tiny clips at each of the flap's corners. The price is present and unaffected. I normally place a protective cover over a dust jacket but this jacket is too small. The book will be protected by ample bubblewrap when it is sent off so the jacket will appear exactly as it does in the photos. From the dust jacket: 'Mrs. Fillow had planted some lovely heliotrope pansies that caught Alexander the Gander's eyes. 'Just for dessert', he thought. So when Sylvie Ann wasn't looking he made off for Mrs. Fillow's garden. His adventures are delightfully told in text and illustration. A tale to be read by four to six year olds' (and collectors). 'Tasha Tudor received many awards and honors, including Caldecott Honors for Mother Goose in 1945 and 1 Is One in 1957. She received the Regina Medal in 1971 for her contributions to children's literature. Her books featured simple and often rhyming text accompanied by detailed and realistic drawings with soft colors. Text and pictures are often bordered by intricate details such as flowers, birds or other charming objects and animals. The visual or textual content often refers to traditions, artifacts or memories of the 19th century. Her books are highly valued possessions of an appreciative audience--one that has grown since she was first represented in the 1940s by the Pennsylvania shop The Dutch Inn in Mill...
