An essay in ten short numbered sections, each a directive and some of them only a single line, that is written to empower and counsel women artists. A limited edition production on artisan paper, formatted as an oblong field notebook, fancy cardboard covers spiral bound, with a hole punched all the way through so that the book can be hung with any page facing out, as in a calendar. With a rear colophon explaining the materials. Deming is an accomplished poet and nonfiction writer and a former Walt Whitman Award winner. A wonderful object and message, in fine condition.

The book was adapted into film in 2011 starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear. The title page has been signed by the author with no personal dedication. In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is a small crease mark to the top corner of the front board and very slight shelf wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions.
