As new condition dark blue boards/dark blue spine/silver spine lettering contained in an as new condition color illustrated dust jacket. Includes Acknowledgments; Foreword by Mike Huckabee; Introduction: God Bless America?; and Notes. Signed by the author with thick blue Sharpie on the blank first free front endpaper. "Todd combines his signature humor and award-winning journalism skills to expose the Left's war on religious liberty." - Sean Hannity "Todd Starnes combines Southern storytelling with investigative journalism to craft a book that will not only entertain but also inform the nation about the extent of the culture's decay. I read Todd's books, and you should too!" - Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas "Todd Starnes has sounded an alarm that every American should listen to. His unique insights, seasoned with his trademark wit, makes God Less America a must-read for every American who cherishes his freedom to worship God." - Dr. Robert Jeffress, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Dallas "Pay attention, people of faith. Dark clouds are gathering. The winds of intolerance are blowing. There's a great storm approaching. We are facing uncertain times. America's values are under assault. Religious liberty has been undermined. We live in a day when right is now wrong and wrong is now right. The vicious left-wing attacks against the recent traditional marriage stance of Chick-fil-A and Duck Dynasty should serve as a wake-up call to people of faith. It's not about ducks or chicken sandwiches. It's about religious liberty. It's about free speech. It's about the future of our nation. As a national reporter covering the culture war, Todd Starnes is on the front lines of these attacks against traditional values. In God Less America he uses both recent news stories and compelling interviews with today's top conservative leaders to bring to light what is happening across our country. In his award-winning, satire-meets-serious writing style he strikes an important blow in today's culture wars." - from the rear outer jacket "In these pages you will read stories of modern-day persecution. You will be introduced to Christians who have taken a stand for their faith and paid a price. They are the stories of our fellow countrymen - men and women, boys and girls, teachers, bakers, and soldiers. They are the stories the mainstream media doesn't want you to read." - excerpt from the inner front jacket flap ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Todd Starnes is the host of FOX News & Commentary - heard daily on the FOX News Radio network. Throughout his journalism career Todd has covered a number of high-profile stories - taking him from Wall Street to the White House. Starnes has made regular appearances on FOX & Friends and Hannity's America, and his thrice-weekly column appears exclusively on FoxNewsDOTcom and TownHallDOTcom.

Dust jacket is wrapped in a mylar cover, has a small tear to the tail end of spine, and light bumping to edges. Boards have light bumping to spine head/tail. Textblock has light shelf wear to edges. Inscribed "For Neil and Susan- With great affection and admiration. My best wishes, Top", dated "Scarsdale March 8, 2010" and signed by Seymour Topping on the front free end page. Shelved in Case 1 1/2. Inscribed by Seymour Topping to Neil and Susan Sheehan, "With great affection and admiration," and signed familiarly "Top." A veteran foreign correspondent and senior editor at The New York Times, Topping reported from many of the central theaters of the Cold War, including China, Southeast Asia, the Soviet Union, and Vietnam. His memoir, On the Front Lines of the Cold War, recounts a career that extended from the Chinese Civil War through the French Indochina War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the American war in Vietnam. The career's of both Topping and Sheehan were formed through Cold War foreign correspondence; both reported from Asia, and both were deeply connected to The New York Times during the period when Vietnam reporting became a central focus of American journalism. Topping also had a direct institutional connection to the Pentagon Papers episode. As assistant managing editor of The New York Times in 1971, he was among the senior editors involved in the paper's internal review and publication decision after Neil Sheehan obtained the classified study. Although Sheehan was the reporter most directly associated with obtaining and breaking the story, Topping belonged to the editorial circle that assessed the documents and helped guide the Times during one of the defining episodes in the 20th century history of press freedom in the United States. Second Story Books is honored to offer this item from the personal collection of Neil and Susan Sheehan. Neil Sheehan (1936-2021) and Susan Sheehan (born 1937) were a distinguished husband-and-wife team whose careers helped define American literary journalism in the second half of the twentieth century. Neil Sheehan, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for The New York Times, is best known for his role in bringing the Pentagon Papers to public attention and for his landmark book "A Bright Shining Lie", while Susan Sheehan built a parallel reputation as a leading voice at The New Yorker, crafting deeply reported narrative nonfiction on subjects ranging from mental health to social institutions, earning her own Pulitzer Prize in 1983. Their longstanding ties to major publications, particularly The New Yorker, placed them at the center of an influential cultural and intellectual network, and the books from their library carry added provenance through this close connection to the magazine's editorial and artistic community. 1413273.
