Inscribed by the author on a slip of paper, possibly as part of the "enhanced design." Lowry's first of three collections of short stories. The story "Lawyer in El Paso" was the basis for the 1959 film *That Kind of Woman* directed by Sidney Lumet and featuring Sophia Loren and Tab Hunter, along with Jack Warden, Barbara Nichols, Keenan Wynn, and George Sanders.
