Three copies found in OCLC as of December 11, 2023. A book by Dr. Nolie Mumey about his alma mater, the University of Arkansas School of Medicine, from which he graduated in 1916. This book covers the founding of the University and reflections on Mumey's time there, as well as a brief history and overview of the state of Arkansas. Nolie Mumey (1891-1984) was an American medical doctor, Army veteran, licensed pilot, and prolific author. From the Denver Public Library Archives: "One of his favorite anecdotes involved his inability to provide directions to Denver's downtown post office. This proved to be such an embarrassment, Mumey vowed to learn everything there was to know about Denver. In the process, he wrote nearly 100 books, many of which were devoted to Western history and medical topics" (Nolie Mumey Papers, Identifier: WH532).

Ginochhio & Bro With Compliments Of A Caminetti" According to Google Lens, the Ginochhio brothers ran a hardware store in Jackson California where they were associates of Anthony Caminetti, an Italian American son of immigrants who served two terms as a United States representative from California from 1891 to 1895 - the first Italian American to do so! The irony, of course, is that later, as United States Commissioner General of Immigration, he argued that the U.S. Congress should end all immigration of Chinese, Japanese, and Malays because they represented the "Asiatic menace." But, like I said, the 8 vo. 514 page book is rare in its own right and contains much valuable information on gold in California!

Herb Yellin was the founder and publisher of Lord John Press and the most frequent of Updike's fine press collaborators. He named his press after noting that the list of authors he wanted to publish all shared the same first name, chief among them John Updike, his favorite. *Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu* became the press's first book in 1977 with 10 more to follow over the next 23 years. Yellin's friendship with Updike grew with each new limited edition benefitting his already enormous Updike collection, with Updike himself contributing copies of new editions of his books - often inscribed. In a 2010 interview with Yellin he noted that Updike ".liked that if anything ever happened to his own collection, he had my collection on the opposite side of the country." A notable association. A scarce book in this issue.

Author's include such diverse voices as Richardmatheson to Charles Dickens; L. Sprague de Camp & Fletcher Pratt to Daniel Defoe. A very eclectic, and entertaining, line-up for sure. Bound in publisher's light blue cloth with titles in navy on spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with very mild wear to the spine ends and a touch of toning to the top edges. Equally attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.75), has a tiny crimp at the crown but is fresh and bright with no chipping, toning or tears. From the library of science fiction author Dean McLaughlin, with his illustrated bookplate on the front end-paper. McLaughlin, (b.1931), noted primarily for short-stories, was nominated for both a Hugo and a Nebula award for the 1968 novella, "Hawk Among the Sparrows". Laid in is a signed, typed letter from Anthony Boucher, on the letterhead of the Fantasy and Science Fiction magazine. (with original mailing envelope with the magazine heading on the verso), reaching out to a bookseller to order some titles that were advertised, with the possible inclusion of some of the stories to be reprinted in the magazine. A gorgeous collectable copy of a tough to find title, particularly in such high-grade condition. The letter and the association with McClaughlin make it exceptional.
