Broadway Interlude Achmed Abdullah and Faith Baldwin [Very Good] [Hardcover]
95.18 CAD
Broadway Interlude; Achmed Abdullah & Faith Baldwin; Payson & Clarke, New York, 1929. First edition. From the blurb – This novel is the story of Leo Cardoza, the Trappist of Times Square, whose theatrical vestments never quite concealed his satanic posterior. The checkered romance of Sally Cameron and Bob Foster, if somewhat overshadowed by the amazing personality of “The Guv’nor,” is in itself a delightful adventure into that strange and exciting land of Back-Stage. These two innocents, together with the amusingly decadent old-stagers, Rita Andrews, Ruth Hoyt, and “The Guv’nor” himself, are all drawn with a Rabelaisian irony which renders them suspiciously stronger than fiction. These people are Broadway, the salt of that rich pasturage between 34th Street and 53rd, between Fifth Avenue and Eight. Broadway Interlude is the first volume of a sensational trilogy. Its readers will eagerly await the ensuing Park Avenue Zoo, and Diversities on Lower Fifth. This book, 306 pages, is in very-good condition in a good dust jacket that is now enclosed in a mylar wrap. There is an ownership signature in the front of the book dated ’37.

323.18 CAD
A special edition of two of Aldrich's best stories, bound together with rigid covers into a single volume. Marijane Meaker, using her own observations of lesbians in the 1950s and 1960s, she wrote a series of nonfiction books about lesbians under the pen name Ann Aldrich from 1955 to 1972. In 1972 she switched genres and pen names once more to begin writing for young adults, and became quite successful as M.E. Kerr, producing over 20 novels and winning multiple awards including the American Library Association's lifetime award for young-adult literature, the ALA Margaret Edwards Award. This unique collector's item by one of the grand masters of young adult fiction, is in excellent condition with slight darkening of the spine and the edges.

[Signed] The Hollow Man [Signed, Publisher's Copy] Simmons, Dan [Very Good] [Hardcover]
335.18 CAD
A signed, limited edition of this science fiction novel about a man who cannot help but read the minds of those around him. The trade edition was published by Bantam books. There were 726 copies in various bindings. This copy is designated in type on the colophon as a publisher's copy (it's not clear how many copies Lord John Press's owner, Herb Yellin, designated for his personal use). It is bound in full leather(ette?) in a matching cloth-covered slipcase. 223 pages. This publication was something of a disaster for Lord John Press. Page 1 and page 17 were reversed; the bindings are a bit too small; the slipcases are too small for the leatherbound copies. The ink used to sign and letter the books has migrated over the years. First edition (first printing). The lower edge of the boards is abraded in place because the slipcase is too small and the fabric is too coarse, which creates wear when the book is pulled in and out. Signed by Simmons. Errata slip laid in.
